    Hi there, I have the Sonos Gen 2 bass with a stereo pair of Sonos Ones. The ground trembles. The bass is incredibly powerful. Either your copy is defective or the pairing did not work properly. I'm considering upgrading my Sonos Ones to the Era 300 myself... I also use Ones in the other rooms. Can you clearly hear the difference between the Ones and the Era 100? Because here, too, I am considering upgrading to the Era 100.

      I find the difference in the Era 100 to be very noticeable compared to the ONE. I would go for it

    One thing about the Sonus subwoofer is its "bespoke" design is very interesting and innovative. It's a good performer though maybe a little pricey, and with the recent release of the RLS Speedwoofer under $500 as a seious contender to subs twice its price. But I cannot knock Sonus products they are very good and probably have the best wireless system out there.

    Really weird spot to test sound for sub video.. Place in the normal daily spot , big difference.

    • @HammoTechReviews
      @HammoTechReviews  Год назад +2

      Remember this is not my first time testing this unit. I used it for a couple weeks prior to this video and moving it anywhere made very little difference to the overall effect of the sub. In fact, in this video it was on a tiled floor, which is where they are best

    Bass is actually directional maybe you need to change the placement of the sub (or placement of you) I have the Gen2 its set to plus 1 and is extremely bassy given a bit of volume

    • @1061shrink1061
      @1061shrink1061 Год назад +3

      Bass isn't directional, it radiates in all directions. But room modes and cancellation effects can have a huge effect. He's got it in the middle of a space with no boundary reinforcement whatsoever.

    So I felt same when I got mine. I did TruPlay set up and then just played about 20 songs at med to high volume. It adapts and learns and now I am getting the thump!!
    So keep playing with it.. mine sounds amazing now

    I don't listen to a lot of music with my Sonos Beam/sub/One SLs or Arc/dual sub/Fives. It is mostly cable TV and series/movies on major from streaming services. I didn't realize I was handicapping the Sonos system by not setting the HDMI to bitstream on my LG OLED C1 series for full Dolby 5.1/Atmos. I had to turn my subs down because they were too much bass kicking me in the chest.
    Could it also be a phone setting or the audio format that may not be taking full advantage of the sub? Was the music selection over bluetooth or internet streaming? I would test using spatial audio music from different genre. Hip-Hop and R&B/soul usually have some serious bass and sub included compared to Pop, Rock, or Alternative.

    • @HammoTechReviews
      @HammoTechReviews  Год назад +1

      It could be the phone I guess. Although I tried a couple different models. The music was streamed through the Sonos app itself but I also used Bluetooth and it sounded the same. I listened for a good week or so with lots of types of music and to me it just never felt as insane as I expected for the price tag.

      @@HammoTechReviews I'm not 100% sure if Sonos is a home theater system that can double to play music OR a sound system that can also do home theater duties? I don't know if you have an Arc or Bean Gen 2 to try the test again with Atmos audio sources?
      Sonos seems to have an automatic tune for certain speakers depending what is paired to them, how they are mounted on a shelf/stand/wall/ceiling, location (wall/corner/sub flat under sofa), Trueplay on/off, and vert/hor orientation. The Arc bass is de-tuned if you use the Sonos wall mount, my Five rear surrounds bass is de-tuned when I added the Sub Gen 3 to my Arc, my Fives change to Horizontal stereo to vertical mono depending on orientation, and the Era 300 center channel is turned off in rear surround home theater duties. I would also try placing the sub near a wall, corner, or even on its side with port straight up before kicking it to the curb (do Trueplay with each move).

      @HammoTechReviews  Год назад +2

      @@mrgold3591 I used trueplay in the room it was recorded in and the sub was tested on different surfaces and corners before the video but i stand by my review in that it just didn’t perform.
      Maybe I should try the arc like you suggest

    Not sure why you're not getting the deep bass from the Sub Gen 3. Even when I got one sub I get so much bass at level 2. Now that I got a second Sub Gen 3, my neighbor are complaining even more 😂😂😂 Its probably the placement of the sub. JBL Partybox 1000 vs Sonos are totally different output when it comes to sound. DJ Speakers vs a HiFi Audio system!!! Definitely can't wait to get the ERA 300.

    I couldn't tell from Best Buy demos in person, or your demos, but i'm wondering how low they get. I listen to a combination of music. Mostly more modern hiphop where bass typically can go lower than most other genres. I'm talking about real Trap, Drill, and hiphop. I was considering this sub for a TV/ stereo for when guests come over without having a complex home theater setup. But, if It can't even go below 30hz, I wouldn't be very impressed. I'm a guy that loves bass, and if a subwoofer can't even get lower than 30hz without dropping off dramatically, then it isn't a true subwoofer.

    Really dont know whats happened there but I have the gen3 sub and putting the bass levels that high should have kicked you in the chest. I have 2 x era 300 as surrounds with arc and gen3 sub but also a pair of 300's with sub mini in the home office for music, and actually find the sub mini being an enclosed not ported sub better for music. The gen 3 is designed for home theater

  • @arn287
    @arn287 Год назад

    Thank you for the review
    For me the Gen3 is more suited for home cinema
    It’s not the same listening as for exemple a phantom Devialet where the bass hits more, that’ s cool to party all night
    Whereas the gen3 is more subtle, and fills all the room.
    I may be wrong but gen3 is more for small to medium room, more subtle

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 Год назад

      The Sonos subs lean more towards a home theater system that you can also play music mostly over the internet. A great solution for those that want a smaller A/V footprint, easy set-up, no wires other than power or HDMI to soundbar, big sound, mix/match/add components depending on budget/needs/wants, and a system that blends into the background with very aesthetic styling.
      The Sub mini is more for small/med rooms. The Gen 3 Sub is for med to extra large rooms with the option to add a second Gen 2 or 3 sub for additional coverage.

    I used the sub and era 300 as well and they do sound better without the sub I aslo tried them with the sub mini and that was a better experince but the best sound is when they are paird with the arc and sub then you will most deffinetly feel the sub

    same experience, not good at all for the music, It gives you fatigue and hating your music. I retuned mine and started looking for a better wifi speaker. To my opinion, a pair of Sonos 5 may sound much much better than era 300 pair; Unfortunately Sonos 5 are getting old and may be replaced soon but who knows! Playing Atomos music was so disappointing and the True Tone just made it worse each time I re-calibrated it. The more I listened the more I hated them. I wish I had a budget for B&O A9 or there was something with good bass and clarity for lass than $2000 for a pair for wifi speakers for music lovers.Recommendations are welcome. To me Sonos Era 300 are just made for their sound bar and on their own they are terrible choice for a Music lover.
