For a potentially boring subject for us non-nerds, this was a highly entertaining start... That Sebastian fellow seems a fun guy... A fascinating, informative and most comprehensive vid on setting this up, Lionel. Good of you to share your knowledge on the subject...
Thank you so much for this video, I've always loved how these videos looked and always wanted to know how they were made. 🤝 I even got a piano with its own led bar lol.
Maestro Lionel this was terrific! Of course I don't need this info but for the ones who do, I don't know how you could have been more comprehensive than you were. Even offering the instructions thru MusicalBasics.com. Great job! 😊😊❤❤❤
Hey Lionel, thanks for yet another amazing video 😂 I was just wondering whether the computer had to be connected all the time for this to work or could the program be sent to the Arduino and run from there?
Hey Lionel, great video. I have a request for you to make a piano tutorial for your colors of the soul composition. Please make it more intermediate level because the arpeggios in the song are quite hard anyways thanks and have a great day
thanks so much for explaining this i may be just going to add the led's. i was thinking it would be awesome if someone actually built a keyboard with the led's and a screen included on top of the piano so you can see all the notes in real time
So, Baudrate (also known as modulation rate) is in short, the symbols per second or pulse rate in pulses per second. So in this case, the number of changes per second the controller sends to the LED's. So basically, its the speed.
having used after effects in the past(and while it is very easy to use and learn) I know how much work it would be to make one such a video, the rendering, but also the previeuws and such. but most of all also the manually placing of all those effects, you didn't mention that, but in after efects you need to place move, animate, etc. all those efects manually and individually. I wouldn't be suprised of the editing for so many notes in one video might have taken similarly as long as the rendering unless you ofcource found or made some kind of script or plugin to do that for you as in placing effects based on sound or midi. so honnestly making your own sotware to do it is a no brainer if you need to do it more than once, even when new to programming and having to learn it on the go, making a software to do it would probably take less time than doing it by hand in after effects (either in the first or second video). since using any modern game engine sotware like Godot or unity (unreal engine might also work and be easy if you are a complete programming noob, but unreal engine is easy for basics for complete noobs, but when you want to make it do some more custom complex things it becomes a hell to work with as in super hard, since it uses C++ which is a easy programming language, but they don't use the real c++ instead a custom programming language they just call c++ since it has a few of the thigns o c++ in it, so you have to learn the entire engine in unreal engine). in godot or unity3d however one can set up something like it very fast, getting the midi input would be the hardest but you can easily find examples or complete implementations of that online. that said in your case you don't need to make it, since the software you mention seem to do it all good and well, doesn't really seem to miss obviously important features or such. as for the price, I guess for many a wattermark isn't that problematic, and for those to who it is, the $8 per month(monthly actually is higher by now, but yearly is cheaper than $8 per month) is probably okay since that would be people like you who use it either use it professionally or atleast find it important to make it look professional. the one problem I see in it is that it only has subscriptions. honnestly if I where to make my profession depend on something I would really preffer to buy a permanent licence instead of a monthly or yearly, even if that is a licence for a current version or such. since in a software like that you do not neccecarily need every update, but you need it to always work without having to have internet acces or other such things which come from subscription licences, next to that if you need updates after the update period is over then it is generally better to buy a upgrade for the licence, or in many cases even buying a new licence can be better than monthly or yearly subscriptions. even though I don't really use such things, mostly came here since around 6 years ago or such I made a led piano system, wasn't meant for led effects however and was meant to study in songs more easily and rapidly. and ofcource I have worked in game engines before, so know how easy they are to work with. have actually also used game engines/game engine made software in the past for special effects on videos, since after effects and such where super heavy, yet that way you could much more rapidly get similarly looking effects, and especially in real time as in not that heavy on the hardware, one great benefit of game engines is that they get visually almost equal quality, but at much lower cost in processing power.
This effect makes me think of a weird combination of braille that lets you visually see the music, and an old arcade game where aliens are dropping bombs on the Earth and you have to catch them all and disintegrate them into smoke the moment they land. It's kinda tense to watch and see if the player will catch them all. Yes, I know, my head can be a weird place 😂 Thanks for the detailed explanation. I did wonder how these videos are made.
I hope we hear more from Sebastian, for a hacker he seems like a nice guy as someone else said. With a name like Pumpkin Spice he certainly can't be all bad laughing out loud. [Hilarious segment, kudos Lionel.😊]
Just a little question from and ignorant musician. When we see you playing in a video, are you playing or is the MIDI playing and you are just playing the keys? Like in your Jedi video - played without touching the keyboard. Also how do you connect the the SeeMusic to the computer? Is this thru the Arduino ? I assume that you play the music first and it plays back. I have seen recordings with the graphics going up from the keyboard but could never figure out how it knows the notes before they are played (like a piano roll would show it) Also how are the keys connected to the LEDs? Is there a pressure switch in their somewhere? Is this software for Windows (which version) or MAC? Might be good for an old XP system.
The hairless software is running on the PC and talks to the arduino? It would be easy to use a raspberry pi and python to directly read USB manually instead of using a third party software.

Fantastic video mate. Isnt there a software that produces fake hands also?
Question: Once you set it up with the computer, do you need to have the computer on at all times for it to work?

Hi, thanks for the vídeo. Is it necessary a chroma key scenarium to get better visual results of the hands?
