I like Ricochet but over the last 4-5 months, we've seen Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and CM Punk stay relevant because their promo ability kept them going. It was crazy when drew and punk were the main draw to RAW when they were both injured and could only talk. Ricochet can't (or won't) grow in his promo ability. Granted he's had less opportunities but all of them weren't that interesting. I think Ricochet is going to have a similar problem at AEW, since it seems both companies only see his physical ability and not any character they can put their marketing behind.
Ricochet is going to be the exact same person in AEW than he was in WWE. The only difference will be he will do more moves that puts his body more at risk of serious injury and Dave Meltzer will praise him for it.

He's been in the company for 6 years and even in NXT he wasn't making waves. He's had many great matches but in 6 years he hasn't had a really good promo or interview segment. He's won the North American, United States and Intercontinental championships, he had kinda interesting feuds with Sami Zayn and most recently Logan Paul and he was cooked on the mic every time. He's incredibly athletic and an excellent performer, but I don't think he's cut for the WWE style. High fliers, with the exception of Rey Mysterio, have a hard time getting really over. It happened to Kalisto, Sin Cara, Cedric Alexander, Mustafa Ali and most of the Cruiserweight division. They're fun to watch but if they're not on the show they're not really missed all that much. Even in NXT he wasn't like Adam Cole, Alister Black, Tomassi Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Velveteen Dream...he didn't have a cool gimmick, he didn't have a connection with the fans, he wasn't a good promo and he didn't have cool vignettes. He's better off in AEW.

Ricochet is great in the ring, this is undeniable, but i can't remember anything of significance he's done outside the ring to build up to a match. there typically needs to be something about a person beyond just the moves they do that draw you to root for or against them. i'll watch a ricochet match and have zero investment in the outcome. not a good formula for main eventer. brad armstrong is the same. they are undeniable talented in the ring but ring work only takes you so far. if you have an element of your personality or talent that you can sell but aren't you need to really consider using it.
Ricochet is a strong solid midcard wrestler. No matter where he has wrestled other than lucha underground he has been a midcard wrestler. If he was anything else other than that other companies would have put their world titles on him.
I would expect Konnan to think Ricochet is underutilized, seeing as how Konnan loves lucha libre, and of course he worked with him in Lucha Underground. But Ricochet has gone as high as he could ever go in WWE. IC, US, and North American champion. He's had a good career. Flips and double moonsaults can only get you but so far. Ricochet has never cut an interesting promo, and we've seen zero character development beyond connecting him to his fiancee- who the internet loves for the most part. I think the worst thing that happened to his career is taking off the Puma mask and be handed a microphone. Let him go to AEW and flip around with his friends and milk Tony for every dollar while his body will allow. Normally I'd agree that WWE (under Vince) shortchanged him, but I just don't see what more could be done with Ricochet- unless he somehow purchases the rights to the Puma character and gets a manager.

TNA is his best option. Going to AEW, he would just be one of many. If not, travel the world and wrestle all the promotions you can. But don't get locked into a contract.
Ricochet will go to AEW, lose the matches that matter (Ospreay rematch, Swerve) and then get lost in the shuffle…the chances he gets lost in the shuffle is higher in AEW under Tony than WWE under HHH

holy god agree with DI. Ricochet is great in the ring, this is undeniable, but i can't remember anything of significance he's done outside the ring to build up to a match. there typically needs to be something about a person beyond just the moves they do that draw you to root for or against them. i'll watch a ricochet match and have zero investment in the outcome. not a good formula for main eventer. brad armstrong is the same. they are undeniable talented in the ring but ring work only takes you so far. if you have an element of your personality or talent that you can sell but aren't you need to really consider using it.
Ricochet is a strong solid midcard wrestler. No matter where he has wrestled other than lucha underground he has been a midcard wrestler. If he was anything else other than that other companies would have put their world titles on him.
I would expect Konnan to think Ricochet is underutilized, seeing as how Konnan loves lucha libre, and of course he worked with him in Lucha Underground. But Ricochet has gone as high as he could ever go in WWE. IC, US, and North American champion. He's had a good career. Flips and double moonsaults can only get you but so far. Ricochet has never cut an interesting promo, and we've seen zero character development beyond connecting him to his fiancee- who the internet loves for the most part. I think the worst thing that happened to his career is taking off the Puma mask and be handed a microphone. Let him go to AEW and flip around with his friends and milk Tony for every dollar while his body will allow. Normally I'd agree that WWE (under Vince) shortchanged him, but I just don't see what more could be done with Ricochet- unless he somehow purchases the rights to the Puma character and gets a manager.

I feel like Ricochet’s failure is more on WWE. He’s a massive talent in the ring and they should have FORCED him to get better on the mic. He’s ok, but he’s not as bad as some people say he is. He should not be leaving, but it’s a failure on WWE.

You have to have great mic skills to sell your gimmick, LA Knight Sean Wicker got over because he has great mic skills and knows how to sell his gimmick successful pro wrestling has a formula it works when executed properly

Ricochet is an acrobat, not a wrestler. Please don’t compare him to Rey Mysterio because Rey wasn’t just a high flyer. Rey had a high level skill set as a wrestler which Ricochet does not.
if he really is leaving WWE the only real loss to the company is that he won't be in the video games anymore. He is always my go-to guy to play as, his move set is awesome for video games.

Ricochet's WWE run wasn't a failure at all. He was an over mid-card babyface and that's the spot for him. Not everyone's world champion.

TNA is his best option. Going to AEW, he would just be one of many. If not, travel the world and wrestle all the promotions you can. But don't get locked into a contract.
Ricochet will go to AEW, lose the matches that matter (Ospreay rematch, Swerve) and then get lost in the shuffle…the chances he gets lost in the shuffle is higher in AEW under Tony than WWE under HHH

About the only good booking I've seen of Ricochet is when he was in Lucha Underground with the Prince Puma gimmick.

Ricochet pulling baddies in the indies is definitely believable. The man got a baddie for a wife in Samantha Irvin. But yeah, simply put, Ricochet just doesn’t have an ounce of charisma on the mic. The dude just can’t talk. Let him go to AEW and join one of their hundreds of factions and someone can cut promos for him

i feel like Owens and Sami are the same with the serious wrestler persona that Ricochet goes for. But look at Sami, he was in the bloodline and being goofy and got over af. Owens was with Jericho doing the goofy entertainment stuff and got over af. Other than that Owens whole shtick is “i don’t wanna talk i just wanna fight” it’s so lame after awhile. You’re performers that are supposed to be entertaining. if all you wanna do if just have “5 star meltzer matches” than go to AEW.
I love Ricochet in-ring work, but my guy promo skills are lacking. I just don't believe the stuff he says cuz he isn't selling me the passion and intensity. That's stopping him from reaching the top spot.
