The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com
I can never complete Finland without terminal damage on dirt rally 2.0😂
Bro how i am stuck.
Hahahah! Rally meets football. ‘’I kick pedal to metal, and sleep when im dead’’ possible motto in rallydriving
I once lost 0-1 with Manchester United. I had Three players in the shower. It wasn’t funny at all….’’I got cents back from a fortune’’ ……😂😂
This is one of those moments in Rally where your hair stands on end and you can't look away. You're transfixed, hungry for the driver to go around that next turn or over that jump. And at that point unbelievers realize what Rally is all about.
Thank you for the memories, the thrills, and the personality Colin. There will be none like you in my lifetime at least, if not for all time.
beautifully said. Colins name will be remembered for years to come. What a legend
For ever Colin
For ever rallye . Not elektromobil. Not , not, not
Starts with SS6 Valkola 2 - 8.42 km with a time of 4 minutes 28.4 seconds, average speed of 112.9 km/h. He was driving a Ford Focus RS WRC rally car.
Makes sense that only a Finnish driver beats this time. This was spectacular to watch!
Man and machine in perfect harmony! R.I.P. forever a legend.
You still think nascar drivers have this degree of talent?? Dream on!
hmm ignorant statement some could just like some rally drivers couldnt do nascar just like some f1 cant do nascar 2 totally different disciplines nascars are heavy and way faster.....
@@jackclass5446 Turn left turn left turn left turn left turn left. lol
@@jackclass5446 "can't" and "won't" are being interchanged in your comment. Rally racers CAN and would do Nascar if there was incentive. NASCAR drivers (in this era and the eras that brought it to be popular) don't have the same cultural background that supports good rally racing and lack the generational knowledge transfer that other countries have for WRX. Your comment about F1 is just plain, as you said it, ignorant - F1 racers can literally do anything, they see lines others don't see and they know more technique for racing than NASCAR drivers. The latter having only small technique like mental endurance, mental discipline, physical endurance (specific muscle groups). It's really apples to oranges and the entire argument is stupid to begin with so I digress.
@@fkylw F1 and wrc drivers are probably equal, but F1 drivers would struggle in nascar because the cars are so different. Basically, each driver is best at their respective sport.
@@fenwa592 thank you
The last thing we Motorsport fans need to do is divide and discriminate other disciplines of racing
"DON'T CUT" at 9:17
Grist: Four seconds quicker than this morning
...
McRae: Still not quicker than the quickest this morning?
Grist: No
McRae the next stage: 8:30
Quickest=Marcus Gronholm
who's Loeb !!?? Colin will allways remain the best in my heart.
What this man was capable of is truly next level. Ken Block only has moments of what Colin McRae's life was.
little much jesus...
3:30 he slides the focus to 45 degrees to the left before taking the 5right...monster...rip
I LOVE watching Colin McRae in action! I have the Colin McRae Rally 2005 game and the co-driver sounds EXACTLY the same in the game, although here, he sounds like he's being shaken violently while he's trying to talk LOL
Co Driver Sounds The Same Because It Is The Same Co Driver.
He's also being shaken violently that's why he sounds like it
I really want the DiRT Rally Finland update now... cry.
Its out in DR 2.0 even better
The best part about this vid is that when he hears the call "jump" he gives it some more gas!
what a hero, what a loss
R.I.P. Colin!
Colin Mcrae the man with no fears, Maximum attack always R.I.P Colin
excellent save at 9.18
+jsaundersmusic Yup, and that flick at 3:30. Respect.
Rest in peace Colin.
3:25 shows who's da man!!
EPIC! that was much faster than this morning... 4 secs faster!!! WTF??
that was still a kickass driving, even 10-15secs slower would have been kickass driving. Colin you showed every1 that left foot could and should be used to brake. RIP
Mega!!
oh my god this driving is amazing. he looks as if he could take the course blindfolded
one of the most talented drivers ever, survives some of the most dramatic crashes ever, then dies in a chopper, tragic.
One of the best onboards ive ever watched!! Awesome
I have bruises on my fingertips, goddamn Finland, goddamn Mannojlampi and goddamn "Advanced" hardness level.
You give me headech here.
Have you ever heard the word "development"? guess not. The thing here is that Citroen put alot of money to have a good car, against the other team(s), in 2009 season it's only two teams. So compared to none competition from other teams and hard development on it's own car it's easy to understand why they win so much.
FiA have rated there own greatest driver, for exampel, Tommi mäkinen and Walter röhl are in much higher position then loeb ever will be.
Colin was one of the great users of Scandinavian flick. Like you can see from this video.
IF IN DOUBT, JUST FLATOUT...
rally - hurtling through a forest at 100mph less than a meter away from trees and spectators, sharp left and right turns and blind dips and jumps, letting the car slid away from you just so you can go faster around a corner whilst your hanging of a cliff....
nascar - turns left...
Colin dances on the limits for getting off-road and crash 1kmh more and he would crash he drove like crazy RIP
amazing, 8:30 onwards is just unbelievable. Can hear Nicky is scared out of his mind. Most naturally talented driver the world has ever seen and ever will.
hmm that a bold statement......
Ye cannae change the laws of physics, laws of physics, laws of physics. Ye cannae change the laws of physics, Jim. Oh. Wait. I just watched Colin McRea driving through a forest.👍
He was the Nigel Mansell of wrc :)
5 people like scalextric
the best ever co-pilot in wrc...rip
9:16 ! ! ! crazy ! ! !
'If in doubt, flat out'
Colin McRae
The crazy part is that he makes it look effortless
this is perfection, my eyes cant believe how fast this is, and how he nails every single twist; hes going 4 times faster than ive ever been on a dirt road.
its a pity people try and do this every weekend near me in their old holden commodores with 3 drunk teenagers for co-drivers.
OMG at 8.40 .... Colin was awesome !
This onboard view is the reason why I still play WRC 1 on the ps2.
Yeah, I imagine it's different with different co-drivers. I learned that system from the Colin McRae game I have and an earlier DOS version.
ballistic,awesome.
*awesome*
wow!
The Master!
Some of those high-speed corners with spectators on them make me cringe with disbelief that they have that much control.
Yes,Colin used the numbers 1-6 which refered to gears, but he still used 6 when driving 5speed Fabia
Amazing driving. Really shows you how much Colin was always giving 110%! Unbelievable.
You sir are a genius. I wish I could race rally cars :/ Sadly In Southern California its not very popular....
Mesmerizing.....
Legend forever ❤️
I looove the cool voice of the copilot. Like hes reading a newspaper in his livingroom.
@Silenced140 Hi, no it's not about shifting. "Scandinavian flick" is technique used to when entering the corner.
Like you see on the video, braking and then he kind a flips car from left to right hand corner just before the corner.
вот так ездят профи ( память ему !!!
That is the main thing in order to make proper notes. You see, the more experienced the pilot is and the more "eye for road" he has, the more accurate the notes. It´s as simple as that. But doing it is way more complicated.
@Mmpp84 "ruts" - 8:30 - 8:32. Where cars have dug up the road, leaving 2 tyres tracks to follow. Bouncing in and out of the ruts can put the car out of balance, especially at high speed!
going sideways in sixth gear and still able to control it, damn!
best driver
best wrc age
the best........arrecho
Fuck thats fast.
Great!!!
amazing
5 dislikes are from travis pastrana fans who think travis was better :S lol
best in car video ever!
Really really fast... Thanks for this great video from a great drivers.
This is the rally equivalent of the video of Senna driving through Monaco
Amazing Colin!!!!!
EPIC driving
Better to Watch this than the Cars in 2023,Colin was Always Sideways And is Still Missed by Those Who Loved to Watch His Driving 😮💨
1 to 6 is the degree of the corner, 6 being the slightest of bends. plus or minus is throttle on or off. the gear is up to the driver dependant on rpm, grip levels and tyre condition etc.other calls such as distance and line are self explanatory.
Exactly! The driver is suppouse to stay in the center of the road and don't make the corner by the inside of the camber, this because there could be some obstacles like rocks or a tree that it's not clearly visible.
this is true racing right here, that nascar shit requires no talent like this kind of racing does!!! GReat job Colin, i would give my left nut to have the opportunity to learn how to race rally.
this was unbelieveable!
Strictly forbidden to come on stage before rally for a driver! Panizzi was caught on a Monte Carlo stage (though, right close to his house) while being cycling and was severely punished.
I love watching rally, but I know nothing about it... could somebody please explain how the co-drivers "Instructions" are meant to be followed? :P
"4right 50 over crest"... and so on
I love Rally respect Colin McRae!
@addiboo1234 he was a natural and then he moved to Citroen and drove there boring car which had to be driving neat and tidy and that wasn't Colin at all!
Amazing driver!
thanks for the video!!
RIP colin
The codriver reads off the upcoming corners, distance to them and the severity of them.
Look up "Pacenotes" on Google for more information.
wow, great video. McRae forever
so why don't driver go through the track several times him self and learn all the coners and turns ...
MC. Krash
Golpeo de nuevo.. 😁🙌🙌🙌🙌👍
If you look at Hirvonen or Loeb or even Latvala, you can see colins lines are totally off.
204 km/h en medio de un bosque .barrilete cosmico de que planeta viniste ? !!!
what a shame the board at the top of the windscreen blocking the good view.
I know that in Colin's notes the turns were classified from 1 to 6. But does anybody knows what does "maybe" "plus" and "minus" meant in those notes ?
3+ is something between 3 and 4. 3 minus is something between 3 and 2. Maybe it means that it's not sure if for example the car will jump. The speeds during recce (pacenote writing) are not flat out, so sometimes they are not sure about a pacenote.

this is RALLY !!!
3:29 and 9:15 = the uberness
jak by polska miala takie drogi asfaltowe jak oni w lesie to by byl chyba jedyny powod do dumy dla polakow ktory stworzyl rzad :D
Crazy to think for the most part he was in control...
I thought it meant a corner the driver should take in 4th gear.
Thank you :D
@galvai Loeb is far from sucking dude. Colin does rule though.
If it was a reply to me,I meant when he drove Skoda Fabia i 2005
09:16 close there :D
amazing stuff! RIP :/-
Does that gearbox require a clutch ?
4 right= take corner in 4 gear
50 over crest= crest at 50 m
Nobla nagrodę powinien dostać w nowo utworzonej dziedzinie
9:16 oooo fun!! haha
WRC Rally has a number system for curves, 1-6. 6 means it's a slight curve, 3 is about a 90-degree turn, and 1 is almost a hairpin curve.
just chilling at 120mph sideways, yards from trees.
They didn't have the flappy paddle gearbox yet
