This game has always had massive input latency problems. Even the original PS4 / PC versions, the inherent input latency is just super high. For this reason I found this game to be unplayable at 30 FPS back when I got it for PS4. It's not really fair to say that the input latency is "worse" at 30 or anything, it's a fundamental issue with the game and while the framerate can make the problem "seem" worse it's still a problem with the game itself.
Its crazy that a game can run so well on a console cheaper than the switch and smaller than any console before it. The Xbox series S is a remarkable machine
I've noticed a pattern where new games that have a 30fps mode feel a lot more sluggish then last gen titles at 30, GTA V for example, the input latency feels way higher on the Series X version on 30fps mode compared to Xbox Ones default 30fps
I wanted to play this game again after next gen patch but I will wait a bit after they fix it same way as they did with Cyberpunk. It is worth the wait.
@@spenn2007 Because I bought it on Xbox when it came out and recently on PC. But performance is not there on consoles and I want to play with RT on PC. (I also have PS5)
@@GuntromanCZ To be honest, you might never be able to play on PC with decent 60 fps with RT enabled without a 4080 or 4090. Even if they release hotfixes for it because it's just taxing on the hardware plus it's not a true DX12 game means it 'might' never be optimised for RT..I am playing on PC (2080) without RT, Ultra+ 1080p. It still looks gorgeous though..
I have every new console but think it’s funny that Xbox talked about teraflops like it was the end all be all and then comes out with a 4 teraflop machine and said “everything’s fine”
And it is fine, because it is priced and marketed accordingly. It was not fine back when they released the Xbox One, which was technically weaker and more expensive than the competition.
I still don't understand why an native 4k or close to 4k like 1800p at 30fps without RT is not an option on this game for PS5 and Series X. The same thing I can say about Cyberpunk 2077 on current gen.
Yeah that's probably because you don't understand game programming or hardware requirements. There are plenty of gaming PCs far more powerful than the current gen consoles that can't run 4K at a locked 30 FPS in modern games. Especially without FSR 2.0 or DLSS. There is some chance you could get that kind of resolution once FSR 2.0 gets a better hold in the console market though.
The ps5 doesn't support any game at a native resolution, it uses adaptive quality as a matter of fact all consoles do this. Don't believe anyone when the say "native"
People saying the Series S is not a current gen machine are straight up degens...the CPU is a gamechanger, it can run everything the Series X and PS5 can with resolution and graphics settings compromises. Devs who can't optimize for Series S should maybe educate themselves more for all the money they're earning. I'm a PC gamer so I don't generally care about consoles, but people acting like Series S holds back this gen somehow must seriusly touch grass.
Comparing it to ps5 and series x is where you lose sense.(not just you anyone who does) it’s 1/3rd of the power as series x. It’s 150-180$ used, seen sales for 229$. It’s made to do its own thing, budget, casual gamers, not only for that but it’s perfect for kids/people on a budget. But it’s perfect for even very heavy gamers. People just have to stop putting up a 4tflop console vs a 12. For 170$ used you can’t beat the performance for money series s is amazing. But when compared to the full power system it doesn’t really make sense. It’s not made to compare.
I had this game on my PS4 and have not played it since 2016. Got the Series S a tad before Halloween this year, got it for $10 & waited for the upgrade to drop and started all over. I am playing on Performance mode, and I am loving it. Do I wish I had/could afford the Series X? Yes. But this keeps me happy. This little machine is a solid choice for someone like me, who didn't play games for several years until Cyberpunk2077 came out. Ran that on Stadia. It was great. Stadia died. So the S took its place, and this game has been taking up my free time. I am thoroughly enjoying it.
I get this too but pretty much everywhere in the game. Wait till you see a Skelliger’s horned helmet without textures, it’s like it’s made out of foam. Pretty major issue that I get almost 100% of the time with minor NPCs.
So a decent version with expected cutbacks on a 300 dollar machine? I wouldn’t be expecting a lot of games to be doing ray-tracing, it’s a miracle you can buy a console capable of that at all for its price even two years on. I agree on the SSR update being absent is a shame, hopefully they can get added it eventually. CD Projekt Red have always supported this game beyond and above and I suspect this will be no different. I think the performance and input latency will be fixed at some point.
it IS a console, they are designed to be cheap to buy and more expensive long term. They make the money back with subscriptions. As with most thing tech wise the more you pay the better the product. People dont buy consoles for the best exp they buy it as they are cheap.
I was dispoined not to see a Series S chapter on the yesterday video, very cool to see a dedicaced video for the small console. AThe 2 modes seem good, I like RT AO and GI, but on the Series S, it's the first thing to remove.
Why the fuck are we still using the term “next-gen”? These console have been out for over two years now. Are we not squarely within their generation at this point? OR is this just a sales tactic that has overstayed its welcome? Remember the old Microsoft claims from mid-2020 that we would see 4k performance at 60fps or even 120fps? Yet two years later we get to choose if we want 1440p@30fps or 1080p@60fps…When is the next-next-gen actually going to start?
It played really good on Xbox series x backwards Capability Had almost little frame rate problems at 60. The only thing that it had problems with was some minor bugs and glitches. Now it’s frame rate is all over the place playing at 60. I think because they added more npc’s at villages and more foliage and grass that tanks frame rate. Should of let it alone because it was almost a native 4K experience
Yes in my series s frame usually stays near 60.. but in places like vehen marshes, or during evening time gameplay frame rate constantly changes between 52 -60..sometime goes as low as 49 fps .
Absolutely! This forcing us to update the entire game just to find it doesn't work as well as it did before. Pathetic and seems like a Cyberpunk kinda insult to lovers of the game.
This dude is either blind or lying through his teeth. I just saw first battle of the gane in the performance mode with FPS counter on one X and the frame rate was hitting low 50s.
I downloaded the Witcher 3 before the update thinking I downloaded the upgrade. I was confused thinking nothing changed. Downloaded the PS4 version by mistake 😵 lol. When I downloaded the PS5 upgrade I was blown away.
whatever you guys are saying, series S is the most loved console :) its cheap and delivers good graphics which is what we are looking for (gamers on tv).... who don't care for 4k pixel perfect quality :) sitting on Cauch from 3m distance i can't spot a bad quality :)
I think it's astonishing that a game like this runs as well as it does on a £210 console (£190 a few days ago!). Performance mode all the way for me though - I already put up with 'Geralt on ice' on the PS4.
120 FPS on the last 3 call of duties. 120 on doom Eternal, beautiful 1080p 60 on Forza horizon, runs Microsoft flight sim is amazing. I see them for 150$ used it’s great.
Thank you for making a dedicated video for this amazing platform. Series S is the most impressive next gen machine in my opinion, providing the best dollar to performance ratio. I am sometimes surprised to see the results MS have been able to achieve with such compact form factor and almost non existent fan noise. Now only if it also receives some top quality single player games like PS.
@@possiblyunmatched1323 How? It costs nearly twice as much, when you can find the S for near $200 US, and at times doesn't deliver any more fps, just some enhanced visuals. For my money, I'll deep six RT every day for a good game with 60fps. That being said I wanted a PS5, yet still can' find one locally and now they are $450 US. For value, the Series S is still at the top, IMO of course.
3:00 if i recall correctly the game Control had even worse input lag. But still in general we lost something on the way to modern day. Next-next gen consoles, RT, Big TVs etc. but on the other hand we have these horrible almost 200 ms input latencies in games. This is mind boggling.
If RT is of value to you I respect that and I do get it's graphical benefits but I feel that RT is really over hyped for what it brings to the table on consoles. RT is much better on (and more of a focus) on PC in my mind and I think it's reasonable to infer that the large majority of players don't notice these differences in general unless they are looking for it. I think high performance options should be of a greater focus for devs in this generation of gaming. 60 and 120 modes should be the focused standards IMO. Heck I think most of us would settle for a 40fps option given the next gen graphical intensely we are starting to see creep up. As far as Series S goes I'd be happy with it being a 1080p 60 next gen gaming machine.
@@MysticCodermetro exodus 60 FPS RT, Doom Eternal 1800p 60 FPS with RT,Miles morales 60 fps with ray tracing, rift apart 60 fps RT. It’s obviously just down to optimization not a “gimmick” 12tflops can definitely push ray tracing, devs have just been lazy at developing. Even if it’s only 30 Fps ray tracing takes so much power. It’s amazing 500$ boxes are capable of doing it to begin with.
I play on both pc and ps5. On pc I always leave RT off no matter what, I’d rather take 120-175fps at maxed settings over 50-70fps with RT. I have a 3080 so I can run it just fine. Same with ps5, I always choose the more fps mode options. I honestly find RT reflections pointless and don’t really see the appeal in most cases. RTXGI however does actually make a good difference tho, metro exodus does a fantastic job with that.
I noticed in the beginning when he said devs have to strip out key features from series s like ray tracing. They should strip it out of the more powerful consoles either because it barely works right, sub 30 fps is pretty unplayable when you could be at 60. Someone here is gonna come up with an example that works and before you do, I know there's a couple out there so don't bother. Fact is most games shouldn't even bother with ray tracing if they can't keep the fps up.
Arent the RT modes on Series X and PS5 dropping to 24fps anyway? Considering Series S keeps all the other upgrades, and even has higher foliage settings than Series X in quality mode (bug or not), but still manages to maintain a locked 1440p 30fps, I see that as a win for the tiny beast.
The Complete Edition is NOT the name of Next Gen version. The Complete Edition has been available for several years and is the version of the game that includes all DLC's and paid Expansions.
I would imagine within a year they could miniaturize it to a handheld. Look at other console revisions size changes. The S starts off already very small. Look at the PS2 models. Started at series S size and shrunk to 2 cd cases thick.
The problem with this is power draw and heat dissipation, Series S draws upwards of 75 watts during gameplay. By comparison, a Steam Deck draws 15 watts and its battery can keep it running for hours, but for high performance content, as little as 90 minutes.
I personally think that XBOX Series S is so good for the money! You can play next-gen games on 1080p or 1440 p with 30 or 60 fps, and somethimes we have games with RT. For a casual gamer like me is a perfect console! I will upgrade when xbox series x elite will come out, or get a ps5 pro!
You'd think CDPR would have learned their lesson with Cyberpunk. But nope, here they are again releasing things before they're ready. I know all pubs do this, but damn Cyberpunk was a colossal fuck up.
The latency on 30fps mode is awful, really unplayable. I’m playing the 60fps mode, on a vrr tv, my only complaint is the draw distance for foliage, otherwise it feels great.

Yeah, this. People seem to forget that Xbox Series S IS capable of ray-tracing. Not powerful RT, but it is capable (see the Metro games). Developers seem to not want to have the trouble of developing a low-tier RT for their games on Series S.

I kind of wish CDPR allowed to console users to tweak FSR modes like on PC in both this and in CP2077. So series S on default is 1440p but a console user could put it down to balanced or performance and then they could maybe include raytracing like that. Absolutely, and the 4 teraflops of the Series S are a totally different architecture, so are more efficient. This is why comparing TFlop ratings amongst different architectures is a fool's errand. I still contend that the Series S is nearly has powerful as the One X on the GPU side, despite having half the CU count. The game can run on the Switch which is less powerful than last and current gen consoles.
I know teraflops are not accurate measurement of performance but nvidea is doing 83 tf, while this machine is doing God's work.
I've noticed a pattern where new games that have a 30fps mode feel a lot more sluggish then last gen titles at 30, GTA V for example, the input latency feels way higher on the Series X version on 30fps mode compared to Xbox Ones default 30fps
Wow an actual 60fps mode? That's pretty impressive.
I wanted to play this game again after next gen patch but I will wait a bit after they fix it same way as they did with Cyberpunk. It is worth the wait.

The same thing I can say about Cyberpunk 2077 on current gen.
There's like 3-4 games where I'm like, yeah, ray tracing is there, other than that it's been a big flop for the consoles.
I'd like a 4k 40fps mode without RT
Yeah that's probably because you don't understand game programming or hardware requirements.
There are plenty of gaming PCs far more powerful than the current gen consoles that can't run 4K at a locked 30 FPS in modern games. Especially without FSR 2.0 or DLSS. There is some chance you could get that kind of resolution once FSR 2.0 gets a better hold in the console market though.
The ps5 doesn't support any game at a native resolution, it uses adaptive quality as a matter of fact all consoles do this. Don't believe anyone when the say "native"
@@StrengthScholar0 no one plays 30 fps on pc and why have such an ass pc connected to a 4k tv/monitor? That sounds like a gtx1080ti lmao

One more issue I faced - Textures not loading on some NPC's especially in Novigrad in dialogue only. In gameplay every texture loads correctly.
Thought it was funny when Happen's pants didn't load in correctly. Looked like he was wearing pure silk

What a beautiful game in all ways 😍 👏 thanks for the update 😀
I've given up thinking of RT modes as a next gen console feature in reality
It played really good on Xbox series x backwards Capability Had almost little frame rate problems at 60. The only thing that it had problems with was some minor bugs and glitches. Now it’s frame rate is all over the place playing at 60. I think because they added more npc’s at villages and more foliage and grass that tanks frame rate. Should of let it alone because it was almost a native 4K experience
Yes in my series s frame usually stays near 60.. but in places like vehen marshes, or during evening time gameplay frame rate constantly changes between 52 -60..sometime goes as low as 49 fps .

I disagree that raytracing is a key feature. It kills the framerate for little gain.

Why is HBAO missing for the updated PC version for those of us still on 10 series cards that don't have RT?
xbox series s could easily be a portable console at 1080p/900p, its components are so easy to trim for this
I would imagine within a year they could miniaturize it to a handheld.
Have you already did it?

Absolutely, and the 4 teraflops of the Series S are a totally different architecture, so are more efficient. This is why comparing TFlop ratings amongst different architectures is a fool's errand.
