Watch 1-15, 19-23, and 39, For Sumire, Sarada, and Mitsuki's backstory. Go read the manga next, and then return to the anime to see the incredible adaptations in episodes 65, 189, 204, 217-18, and 293.
It’s hard to say because of the fact a lot of what’s considered “filler” in Boruto is actually canon because they are adaptations of light novels and one shots are referenced in the manga occasionally. Also, if you want to see the OG characters then watch the filler.
@@GatewaytoAnime well yes and no, these episodes have their own storyline but OG characters like Ten Ten or Choji or someone will show up and offer sage advice or comedic relief. For example, there is a filler arc with Might Guy and Kakashi and Asuma’s daughter and it’s actually pretty funny.

A lot these take are very understandable coming from people who haven’t watched much of it But many of take like No new ideas, rehashing old plot lines, nostalgia grabbing ect Just isn’t really true it was for maybe the first 10 chapters but quickly starts finding it’s own identity
In an interview, Kishimoto actually stated that it’s really Ikemoto that’s still writing the Manga and he’s just assisting during the finalization part because a lot of things were changed. I just wanted Ikemoto to get some flowers especially with his art style improving so well too 😌

I enjoyed watching this, but as someone who watched both the anime and read the manga of Boruto, some of the arguments made in this video just feel a bit uninformed and not very true overall. I feel like if you guys got someone who knew exactly what they were talking abt when it came to Boruto on the pod, alot of these points would be pretty weak. What I will say though is if you wanna inform yourself relatively quick and get a good grasp of what the story really is, check out the video that Naruto Explained made on Boruto. Its around 2+ hours and covers all the arcs prior to the timeskip. Its a really good video for people who just dont wanna go through 293 episodes of Boruto. 👍

So I do like the podcast but it is a shame that no one here made it past the first arc. The first 65 episodes isn’t really a good way to get a full understanding of the series since all it did was adapt ch 1 through 10. The Boruto manga has 80 chapters. Two blue vortex has 15 chapters.

Anime is good, there up and downs just as Naruto and Naruto part 2, most people who didn’t like it simply because they never gave it chance, and are stuck in nostalgia obviously not everyone but I say majority of the people, I rewatch the series the first time I didn’t like it because I was one of them, but the 2nd time I realize the series was good although there’s a lot of ups and downs.

How can you say no one gave Boruto a chance? If they watch the first season or read the first arc that is giving it a chance, it is not the reader/ anime watcher job to stay interested in it, it the writer job to keep their interest. That scene with older boruto and kawaki hooked me into watching in the beginning, don't remember how many episodes i saw but i remember i stopped when i realized they were just retelling the movie. Considered getting back into it when i saw some weird time shit going on and a certain character i've missed was back, ultimately i never did get back into it, but you guys just made me rethink my decision

I don’t really like watching long time running anime so I usually skip filler and anything not related to the main story unless it adds good development for characters and there was some added scenes in boruto I liked. Just like how one piece started doing it. Episode 65 being better than the movie was crazy when it first came out and still to this day is a hard fight to beat. I really like boruto and his development as a character and can see Kishimoto wanted him to be like kids of today. One of the conflicts between Boruto and Naruto was inspired by his son Frrl.
Boruto was not titled "Child of prophecy" Naruto was.. Boruto was only created after Naruto and was created to further Naruto's legacy which isnt wrong, but it was poorly launched.
I got in to Naruto because I was tired of watching Dragon ball and Yu yuHakusho. I googled what’s close to those series Naruto and a few other anime’s came up got hooked since. Im a huge Boruto manga fan
I started Boruto anime 4 years ago after shippuden, and become a big fan ever since, definitely not as "worthless" as those online haters always said. Story seems predictable, yet every issues catches us off guard. Years ago, who would've know that Boruto will lose everything like that(chap 79-80), manga have done something unprecedented in manga history. And TBV has developed greatly ever since it started a year ago, I always tell people, read it then comment it, instead claim it as "sour grapes".

I understand the positions y’all took given what you’ve seen. As an OG Naruto and shippuden fan I had the same responses to the first few episodes but I actually started liking the show more after looking back at the academy setting of og naruto (especially round the academy) wasn’t as good early days as I remembered. With that in mind for those of you who are okay with watching the show it’s kind of an updated version of og Naruto in a lot of ways that you may find worth watching. We all know those amazing og moments that are great, but what’s between them is on average worse than what’s between the most amazing Boruto moments. Especially because Boruto as a protagonist enables a different approach. Naruto was an annoying brat too at that age , but while Boruto might be a nepo, he is way more competent than his dad at the same ages so far at all points. He has most definitively inherited both Minato’s genius and Naruto’s creativity. Combined especially once you get past the academy hurdle, he’s able to combine skills and jutsus in creative ways that are just really epic honestly. Especially his natural affinity for nature releases, those early bits in the academy feel bratty and annoying but they are hints of what’s to come as he refines his skill. Especially with his character growth looking back he’s honestly outpacing all of og team 7 in competency age comparison-wise. Like you guys were saying Naruto was amazing for its time but in its structure it doesn’t hold up the same way. If you give it a chance and skip the same dumb stuff that’s in the og Naruto, you come out with a more modern product. Now as for the jarring part of tech advancing so quickly I totally get it. But the real value of scientific ninja tools to not only teach but inspire Boruto to learn deeply what it means to be a ninja. This is one of the big contrasts with Kawaki (who his dynamic with is fascinating at this point btw) is that Kawaki starts largely with only scientific ninja tools without the same drive and foundation of what it means to be a ninja. This highlights Boruto, especially with his genius+competency, as a true ninja in ways that feel just as deep if not deeper than Naruto’s relationship with being a ninja. Though I wasn’t the biggest fan of Otsusukis before, Boruto and especially two-blue vortex have made them the most interesting plot line moving forward so really look forward to seeing how y’all feel when you catch up!
i think what messed up boruto's chances of success is that the anime starts with 50 episodes of filler. no joke, the first 50 episodes of the boruto anime is filler (which they advertised as canon even though none of it is in the manga source material) scattered with 5 episodes of actual manga canon. They did this because the boruto manga had no chapters out so they were stalling until the manga got far enough ahead for them to actually start adapting the source material again. Out of the 293 episodes of boruto, only about 70 are based on the manga. I watched only the manga bits and it blew my mind. Made me go from a hater to a believer. If you guys ever watch boruto, please just watch the things that the author wanted you to see instead of the slop created by the animation studio to stall for the manga.
I'm sorry to tell you this but the Academy Arc(first 50 episode) are in fact very much canon. They are adapting the light novels that were written by Kodachi.
...the first 50 eps are not all filler. This is completely wrong information. Something not being in the manga doesnt mean its not canon or is filler. Thats like saying the Shin Uchiha arc or the Mitsuki backstory is filler or not canon stuff that people should watch. Boruto being boruto what make boruto series different from his father. I don't want Naruto 2.0 or nostalgia moment. I grew up watching Naruto but i cant put myself the same way, unlike Boruto i can feel his pain more than Naruto. Sasuke already said, Naruto cant feel his pain cause Naruto do not have Parent. do no have someone to think. Do not know LOVE. Boruto does, he know how Naruto treat his family before he become Hokage. He just miss that moment. In beginning, Sasuke n Naruto has serious talk about soul of shinobi still exist or not. That the purpose of Boruto series. We just have to endure the new generation bad habit moment. This is not War Era... Peace Era. Naruto more to Hero moment, But Naruto more to relatable.
From the beginning of the Boruto discussion, I already knew they had no idea what they were talking about. It's like none of them read passed the first arc.
In all honesty, do yourself a favor and delete everything you know from the Anime and read the Manga from the beginning. Even little things turn the anime bad, like the futuristic tech that is just too sleek and modern. And then there's the big stuff, like Filler content making appearances as flashbacks in important canon moments or whole Filler characters playing an active role during the Canon arcs (looking at you Urashiki). There's also subtle stuff that changes things for no reason. Spoilers for the ending of part 1 of Boruto. After Momoshiki awakens during the Code-ark for the second time, Kawaki kills Boruto so that Momoshiki wouldn't cause chaos anymore. Boruto and Kawaki both agree on that, but Boruto is revived and Kawaki is pissed that the Otsutsuki threat inside Boruto is still there. From now on in the Manga, Kawaki speaks no word with Boruto because he needs to figure out what his next move will be or if there even will be one. Only after realising that Momoshiki is still there and talking to Boruto does Kawaki speak to Boruto again and he's furious that Boruto is so chill about the fact that Momoshiki is still there. Kawaki has thus finally decided that Boruto needs to die. This whole silent treatment happened because Kawaki wasn't too sure how to feel about this whole situation, but the fact that Momoshiki is obviously still around makes Kawaki snap and he proceeds to do some shady shit. In the animes final scene Kawaki and Boruto talk for some reason and tell eachother there motives. And I seriously cannot buy that Boruto's going to be surprised once Kawaki goes psycho, because he already told him that he's going to kill Boruto.
I watch and read Boruto because story is about boruto not about naruto if you want to watch naruto story i will watch naruto or read some books of naruto like his databook or etc About the alien part it has all the connections to chakra because of kaguya otsusuki / his son gave chakra to human and how kaguya got it and is there anyone more like her etc is really needed for story about her clan etc and also about ten tails because thats is connected to story like tail beast and otsusuki chakra etc ( if you need to know more about ninja just watch naruto mate dont watch boruto tbh everything in naruto like chakra tail beast divine tree is connected to otsusuki so its really needed ) without that it would be a incomplete story

Boruto suffers from attacks from some ignorant Naruto fans, because of the misinformation they post in Social Media , You Tube. Without even understanding the story , with prejudice and some kind of grudge they make up their own version of the story and posts it (Which is a popular way to drag down content these days). After consuming these nonsense , People just believes what they see and hear in it. Boruto is not just a spin off , It is the direct sequel to Naruto Manga. Maybe most people don't think this but Naruto can be considered a setup to the overall storyline , where the Main Protagonist is Boruto. Toxic fans of Naruto just spreads misinformation with the "Nostalgia" as their backing. What they don't understand is that they are also spreading hate towards Naruto Manga.
But what people doesn't understand is boruto really loves his dad too much literally people see boruto complain but if you see he is complaining his dad not being in the house which shows you how much he want to be around his dad also people confused boruto being idol of Sasuke and they think he loves more then his dad but it's false lol boruto said to kawaki face i will do everything even if i had to sacrifice my live just for my dad to be save boruto was spoiled by Naruto if you see his photos in his room and how much time he was spending with his dad before Naruto become hokage
Naruto had one of the worst endings in manga history, filled with plot holes, inconsistency and questionable writing decisions and Boruto doubles down on that ending.
Wrong. The manga is good but lacks severely in character development due to only releasing roughly 40 pages of content each month. The naruto shippuden manga was on a weekly release with roughly 20 - 23 pages of content with each chapter which rounds out to about 80 - 90 pages of content a month. Literally twice as much content. This is the reason why anime canon exists in the anime. The anime Canon is in fact Canon to the story and some of those arcs do a decent job giving the characters much needed development. As much as I like the manga i am much more invested in the characters when it comes to the anime. Also the anime filler lists that you quickly Google search are subjectively made by viewers. They are not official filler lists. I'm not kidding when I say this but I saw the boruto filler list get altered from like 20% filler to 90% filler within a week. Someone legit went in and tampered with it. The whole point of boruto part 1 was to showcase the relatively peaceful world that had been created which is why it seemed slow at times but if you went in with proper expectations, it wasn't that bad.
The music in Boruto is not Memorable as in Naruto, in naruto you can just post a pic i will sing the whole song for you Some fight scenes in Naruto u can never forget even if you try, like Naruto dropping Neji & Gaara on the same day also rock lee vs Gaara, madara vs everone, pain vs Naruto, itachi vs Sasuke, if i am honest in Boruto i can not remember any boruto fight In Boruto konohamaru consids a lot of losses compared to kakashi 😅, he was dropped by Victor the kara old man, he was dropped by koji kashin, he was very helpless when jigen invaded the Uzumaki household 😂😂😂 Boruto is just not matching Naruto, Naruto is a speech that has been prepared For 4 a long time, then Boruto is like a surprise speech ❤

That scene with older boruto and kawaki hooked me into watching in the beginning, don't remember how many episodes i saw but i remember i stopped when i realized they were just retelling the movie. Considered getting back into it when i saw some weird time shit going on and a certain character i've missed was back, ultimately i never did get back into it, but you guys just made me rethink my decision

So I’m seeing that most of the complaints of the show/manga is from the beginning and they carry that throughout the whole series without even seeing it
I don’t really like watching long time running anime so I usually skip filler and anything not related to the main story unless it adds good development for characters and there was some added scenes in boruto I liked. Just like how one piece started doing it. Episode 65 being better than the movie was crazy when it first came out and still to this day is a hard fight to beat. I really like boruto and his development as a character and can see Kishimoto wanted him to be like kids of today. One of the conflicts between Boruto and Naruto was inspired by his son Frrl.
Boruto was not titled "Child of prophecy" Naruto was.. Boruto was only created after Naruto and was created to further Naruto's legacy which isnt wrong, but it was poorly launched.
I got in to Naruto because I was tired of watching Dragon ball and Yu yuHakusho. I googled what’s close to those series Naruto and a few other anime’s came up got hooked since. Im a huge Boruto manga fan
I started Boruto anime 4 years ago after shippuden, and become a big fan ever since, definitely not as "worthless" as those online haters always said. Story seems predictable, yet every issues catches us off guard. Years ago, who would've know that Boruto will lose everything like that(chap 79-80), manga have done something unprecedented in manga history. And TBV has developed greatly ever since it started a year ago, I always tell people, read it then comment it, instead claim it as "sour grapes".
They literally told/show you that Boruto would lose everything at the beginning, it was completely and utterly predictable.
Boruto is the GOAT! all canon content is top, avoid fillers and its an excellent secuel for sure!

I understand the positions y’all took given what you’ve seen. As an OG Naruto and shippuden fan I had the same responses to the first few episodes but I actually started liking the show more after looking back at the academy setting of og naruto (especially round the academy) wasn’t as good early days as I remembered. With that in mind for those of you who are okay with watching the show it’s kind of an updated version of og Naruto in a lot of ways that you may find worth watching. We all know those amazing og moments that are great, but what’s between them is on average worse than what’s between the most amazing Boruto moments.
Especially because Boruto as a protagonist enables a different approach. Naruto was an annoying brat too at that age , but while Boruto might be a nepo, he is way more competent than his dad at the same ages so far at all points. He has most definitively inherited both Minato’s genius and Naruto’s creativity. Combined especially once you get past the academy hurdle, he’s able to combine skills and jutsus in creative ways that are just really epic honestly. Especially his natural affinity for nature releases, those early bits in the academy feel bratty and annoying but they are hints of what’s to come as he refines his skill. Especially with his character growth looking back he’s honestly outpacing all of og team 7 in competency age comparison-wise. Like you guys were saying Naruto was amazing for its time but in its structure it doesn’t hold up the same way. If you give it a chance and skip the same dumb stuff that’s in the og Naruto, you come out with a more modern product.
Now as for the jarring part of tech advancing so quickly I totally get it. But the real value of scientific ninja tools to not only teach but inspire Boruto to learn deeply what it means to be a ninja. This is one of the big contrasts with Kawaki (who his dynamic with is fascinating at this point btw) is that Kawaki starts largely with only scientific ninja tools without the same drive and foundation of what it means to be a ninja. This highlights Boruto, especially with his genius+competency, as a true ninja in ways that feel just as deep if not deeper than Naruto’s relationship with being a ninja. Though I wasn’t the biggest fan of Otsusukis before, Boruto and especially two-blue vortex have made them the most interesting plot line moving forward so really look forward to seeing how y’all feel when you catch up!
i think what messed up boruto's chances of success is that the anime starts with 50 episodes of filler. no joke, the first 50 episodes of the boruto anime is filler (which they advertised as canon even though none of it is in the manga source material) scattered with 5 episodes of actual manga canon. They did this because the boruto manga had no chapters out so they were stalling until the manga got far enough ahead for them to actually start adapting the source material again. Out of the 293 episodes of boruto, only about 70 are based on the manga. I watched only the manga bits and it blew my mind. Made me go from a hater to a believer. If you guys ever watch boruto, please just watch the things that the author wanted you to see instead of the slop created by the animation studio to stall for the manga.
I'm sorry to tell you this but the Academy Arc(first 50 episode) are in fact very much canon. They are adapting the light novels that were written by Kodachi.
...the first 50 eps are not all filler. This is completely wrong information. Something not being in the manga doesnt mean its not canon or is filler. Thats like saying the Shin Uchiha arc or the Mitsuki backstory is filler or not canon stuff that people should watch. I grew up watching Naruto but i cant put myself the same way, unlike Boruto i can feel his pain more than Naruto. Sasuke already said, Naruto cant feel his pain cause Naruto do not have Parent. do no have someone to think. Do not know LOVE. Boruto does, he know how Naruto treat his family before he become Hokage. He just miss that moment. In beginning, Sasuke n Naruto has serious talk about soul of shinobi still exist or not. That the purpose of Boruto series. We just have to endure the new generation bad habit moment. This is not War Era... Peace Era.

In all honesty, do yourself a favor and delete everything you know from the Anime and read the Manga from the beginning.
Even little things turn the anime bad, like the futuristic tech that is just too sleek and modern.
And then there's the big stuff, like Filler content making appearances as flashbacks in important canon moments or whole Filler characters playing an active role during the Canon arcs (looking at you Urashiki).
There's also subtle stuff that changes things for no reason. Spoilers for the ending of part 1 of Boruto. After Momoshiki awakens during the Code-ark for the second time, Kawaki kills Boruto so that Momoshiki wouldn't cause chaos anymore. Boruto and Kawaki both agree on that, but Boruto is revived and Kawaki is pissed that the Otsutsuki threat inside Boruto is still there. From now on in the Manga, Kawaki speaks no word with Boruto because he needs to figure out what his next move will be or if there even will be one. Only after realising that Momoshiki is still there and talking to Boruto does Kawaki speak to Boruto again and he's furious that Boruto is so chill about the fact that Momoshiki is still there. Kawaki has thus finally decided that Boruto needs to die. This whole silent treatment happened because Kawaki wasn't too sure how to feel about this whole situation, but the fact that Momoshiki is obviously still around makes Kawaki snap and he proceeds to do some shady shit.
In the animes final scene Kawaki and Boruto talk for some reason and tell eachother there motives. And I seriously cannot buy that Boruto's going to be surprised once Kawaki goes psycho, because he already told him that he's going to kill Boruto.

Wrong. The manga is good but lacks severely in character development due to only releasing roughly 40 pages of content each month.
The naruto shippuden manga was on a weekly release with roughly 20 - 23 pages of content with each chapter which rounds out to about 80 - 90 pages of content a month. Literally twice as much content.
This is the reason why anime canon exists in the anime. The anime Canon is in fact Canon to the story and some of those arcs do a decent job giving the characters much needed development. As much as I like the manga i am much more invested in the characters when it comes to the anime.
Also the anime filler lists that you quickly Google search are subjectively made by viewers. They are not official filler lists. I'm not kidding when I say this but I saw the boruto filler list get altered from like 20% filler to 90% filler within a week. Someone legit went in and tampered with it.
The whole point of boruto part 1 was to showcase the relatively peaceful world that had been created which is why it seemed slow at times but if you went in with proper expectations, it wasn't that bad.
