      ​@@Nicole-yo8ux 너의 한국어를 어떻게 있어요? I have practiced for probably a year on and off but I still don't know how to understand that much.. That sentence is supposed to mean how is your korean.. I am not sure if it does though.. do you have any tips? it made me happy that i could understand your comment

      Okay so my understanding is that the difference is that 는데 can also mean that you are putting out background facts. It doesn’t have to mean "but"
      example:
      아까 밥을 먹었는데 지금 배불러요 = with the background facts that I earlier ate food, I am now full. / I earlier ate food so im full now.
      오늘은 친구 생일 인데 케이크를 먹었요. = With the background facts that it is my friends birthday today, I ate cake / It is my friends birthday today so i ate cake.
      Not sure my sentences are 100% correct but i hope you understand the concept at least
