I like su and I do think she changed and is a different person now, but it is hard to blame Lin for being salty. If my sister was a little punk, scarred my face, didn’t get in trouble, went on to become super successful, and then called me a bitter loner that deserved to get dumped, I’d be ready to throw hands too 😂😂
I honestly love the sister fight. They’re both definitely daughters of Toph: stubborn to a fault and ridiculously good at earth/metal bending. And I think anyone with Siblings can agree that fight was needed
Suyin and Lin's beef is interesting because Su is a lot like Young Toph, rebellious and willing to get into trouble for her own gain and Lin is much more like what we've seen of adult Toph, more responsible and level headed. Their dynamic also reminds me of the kind of fights Toph and Katara used to have
Thanks for the reaction guys as always, u know I appreciate it! The first metalbending avatar is a pretty lit title. She got the drip now. Zaofu is such a dope location, one of my favorite things in korra.
I love what LoK did with the old Team Avatar members and their families. They're not larger-than-life ideals and heroic figures, but have flaws like every other person. Aang was fixated on his Avatar duties and status as last living airbender, and ended up neglecting his non-airbender kids as a result. Zuko is still as socially awkward as ever. And Toph ended up a single mother with two headstrong daughters from different fathers whom she let run wild - until the consequences eventually caught up to her. They're all a mess and I love them for it.
So I didn't see anyone else say this, and I know you already finished the show, but I find this an interesting callback detail. I think the reason Lin suddenly up and changed is because she had the same sort of "metamorphosis" fever that Zuko had at the end of book 2 when he freed Appa, after he woke up from the fever, he was much happier and optimistic.
The best part of the flashbacks is that the reason Su and Lin turned out the way they did is because Toph was trying to be the parent she wished she had and never intervened with her kids' affairs, for better and for worse.
Fun fact: Adult Toph is voice by Kate Higgins aka Sakura from Naruto Suyin is voice by the same actress who voice Toph in the original series. You can very much hear it when she speaks.
What did I say last week about adult siblings not generally getting into physical fights? Yeah, I knew this episode was coming. Here's a major exception to the rule. Lin confronted a major source of anger and bitterness that she had been carrying around for 3 decades. (I wouldn't be surprised if she partially blamed the breakup with Tenzin on her scar, and thus indirectly on her sister.) What we see at the back end of this episode is the first time Lin had ever truly de-stressed in her adult life, that's why she seems so different. She'll revert to being the humorless, stern, irritable woman we've grown to love, but she's going to be different, too. Not quite so tightly wound up, more willing to give praise. She's never going to be exactly the same again, but in a good way. I say this as someone that started treatment for a 30+ year long depression disorder back in 2017. 5 years later and I'm still learning (or re-learning) things. Over the past month I learned to smile again. I'm different from how I used to be. But at the same time, I'm still the arrogant jackass I've always been. Just, less of a hostile edge to it. That's what happens when you start to recover from and properly process the bad things that have happened in your life. You learn that being gentle is different from going soft... Ok, I've gone soft, too, but that's not the point. Anyway, we'll learn about Zaheer's info gathering shenanigans soon, don't you worry. Great vid guys, keep 'em coming.
Just want to say that I appreciate reading comments like these since the psychological effects on a person tend to get overlooked, especially in shows like these. 💯 And I'm glad you've improved a bit since then! 🙌🏾
Lin is that strong, all power metalbender. Su is all elegant and graceful. I would give su the slight edge. They both raw, nasty benders. That whole family is.
Su has the better form, but Lin has more actual combat experience, being in active duty for the past 30 years. I could see it going either way, but if Lin was at the top of her game, I'd give her the edge.
"Wouldn't that make her tired, using her bending all the time?" Yo that's actually a good question, I feel like it should but since she does it all the time, maybe she built up the stamina? Idk lol but that's a great question
Me being an earth sign, Zaofu is definitely my ideal place to live at The advancements and how very modern the city is is just very much my style And idk if this is canon, but when the city open at day, the city look like several lotus flowers bloom and when it closes at night, like buds Such a very neat detail And hype for the first metalbending avatar
aang couldnt metal bend because he literally didnt have what it takes. he could barely earthbend at first, but he just doesnt have the extra foundation needed to metal bend. tbh tho, he could probably do it, just never master it.
It is confirmed in the last comic of Avatar: Imbalance that she did try to teach him but he doesn’t have that will to do it. Like you said, Earth-bending was his natural opposite and now metal-bending is much for focused on the refined earth materials.
Also, metal bending is just a hard form of bending as it focussed on specific particles that are harder to sense. Someone doesn't have to be a bad earthbender if they can not metalbend.
earth bending is about resonance and unity in materials and people; so when the guy lavabended he pretty much did the opposite of metalbending which relies on resonance and geometry.
Yeah good that you're saying this because I don't think they realise that metal bending (and lava bending) takes a particular skill. Not every earth bender can just metal bend. It takes a lot of mental control and other factors for someone to be able to do so. Just like with lightning bending.
@@abiokuns7066i felt the need to wait until it wasn't too spoiler, after all everything always starts with the bender's consciousness approach to energybending inside their bodies(pineal gland and the activations of its crystals) and depending on the paths of element lifeforce affinity the results change. always makes me impressed with the bending system and the design of abilities, amon's bloodbending block from behind to symbolize body and aang from the front for spirituality. the lionturtle touches the pineal gland and the fourth chackra to give the bending. like you said lightning bending explanation by iroh and the future spoilers in season 4 for earthbending.
I think su and Lin are both wrong in a way. Lin is wrong cause she chose to hold onto things and be alone. Didn't try to make amends and move on. Su is wrong cause she didn't really acknowledge how badly she acted in the past and how much it affected Lin. But also again Lin should have met up with them to talk. But it be like that with arguments sometimes. No one is totally right.
But su hasn't really apologized sincerely all her apologies end with her making excuses, minimizing lin's feelings, her very low blow when she commented about lin's relationship with Tenzin, her telling korra the edited version of their history, the here n there "jokes" she makes, lying to lin, undermining lin's judgement etc ...i think if i were lin i would have also have nthg to do with toph or su anymore...although moving on would be better for herself....they r not equally at fault Can i also add that in the moment that lin approached su looking for a fight,su should have been the bigger person n taken the high road...she shouldn't have egged her on especially seeing her in that position which she was not thinking straight but reacting from deep anger n resentment...su hasn't changed

And up to this day, I'm still on Lin's side. Su did her hella dirty and only gave half-assed apologies. SMH.
