I would even go so far as to wire the headlights, use some old bar work and make it LOOK like a functional rig. Maybe ice chests or fridges under the hood.
the old dirty 30 body I think you should make it into a car couch or a piece of furniture like that. People use to do that with old Cadillac's. So that way you will always sit in it while looking at your new project while in the shed mate. Hope you like this idea?????
You shouldn't be uncomfortable about the cost of the build. You were able to build your dream car and you did it. That's something to be proud of. That doesn't mean you can't cover or drive budget builds, it's all part of the varied content that keeps us interested! 'Good on ya', as I believe you Aussies like to say!
A shout out to you guys from our neighbors from the west. South Africa. Love your show and what you have done with the 30. My project is only 1 year in but with covid have been starting to get all the parts.... can't wait to see your next build
Love this rig! Not usually a chopped wagon fan but I'd swap my FTE 100 series any day of the week for this. The fact you didn't extend the chassis is what makes so good imo.
Definitely turn it into a beers in the shed bar! Where the headlights go put speakers and make it so the bonnet lifts up to a barbecue. That would be sick
Shawn is an absolute legend.I love 4WD too and just watching these episodes helped. Not many people can spend years learning something and give away that knowledge just like that.Hats of for you mate.
I think I’ve suggested it before, but I reckon a bbq mounted in the old 30 under the bonnet with the cab housing a beer fridge/pantry or whatever would be killer
Shauno your builds have been such an inspiration when I got into getting a 4wd. Whenver I get stuck or in a rut building my rig, these videos help. Definitely make something out of the old dirty 30, at minimum the front end hung in the shed.
Congrats mate 👍👌really great to know what's involved in a build like this . . . . and the final details . . . Including the amazing but not surprising costs involved! Gives us viewers a good idea what's really involved. Bet it cost more without your connections but thanks for being pretty honest mate 👍👌😁 it's a good change from the 4wd supacrap days so keep up the great work and keep on keeping it real 👌 your channel is getting better by the episode 👌👍
You’ve got to do a BBQ/kitchen build with the old dirty 30 shell. Beers in the shed cookery corner in the old dirty 30 would be class. Loving the new build and the adventures.
Make a car simulator and have like a Xbox and a full set up in there and it would be so sick, I know that your probs not into video games but it would make a great video
Watch the old episodes of pimp my ride if you wanna see this stuff... "We thought your ride needed to look more badass and less soccer mum car so we spiced it up and put 4 75" flatscreens in the back and a projector is full stereo system in the boot so youll never miss another greys and anatomy episode again!!"
Hi I am a South African who watches every episode of this show. I am subscribed to the channel. I am an adult male 45 years and I always wanted a 4 wheel drive vechile. Your makes me wanna go and buy one but due to circumstances I cannot. But really I enjoy the show. Well done guys.
Hey Shauno The mods I reckon you should do on the dirty 30 is give the rear a 300mm extension move the rear axle back First then fit long arms etc for better movement. Then your tray in aluminium as you said and the old 30 body men turn it into a winch comp truck and do as many comps as you can. That way you can still drive it, own it and go nuts in it.
Thanks for all the details and info. Very interesting. She really is a fantastic rig, and I didn't realise it actually took that long to get her build. I have one general question for you, and Graham too - are these vehicles really yours, or are they "company cars" that are actually owned by the 4WD 24-7 business. I am just curious.
It’s a work of art Shauno, inspiring us all. Yes, the weight is a big one. I was zipping up and own tracks in Mits Paj sport on OTT because it is so light. So many trade offs in different vehicles. Epic Build mate.
Mate thanks for all the quality entertainment over the years its been awsome. Question what ecu are you running? I was led to believe the standard fte ecu is near impossible to tune corectly. Also how bout turn the old 30 into an awsome BBQ/ smoker? Could pop the bonnet and have a big grill plate combo in there. Could grill up some reef and beef whilst doing beers in the shed.
Love the vids keep them coming so old dirty 30 bq under the bonet slide out frigde from the cab and timber table and kitchen on the tray great for beers in the shed
Have you ever considered putting a dash mat and steering wheel cover on? I know you had trouble with the dash mat in Sooty but it'll be nice to have a little protection on the Dirty 30's dash. Looks pretty mint at the moment.
Love the build, if you went for alloy tray/box, would the tent and solar make it a little top heavy without the extra weight lower down? Or is that insignificant enough that you wouldn't really notice it?? Cheers
Makes me miss Aussie watching your guys vids. Love the country & your vids showing us places I never got to see while I was there. Truck is vicious mate, thanks for sharing
With the old 30 body. Cut the front end off to the firewall, then remove the back cab panel. So it’s a box with an open back. Then take both seats and turn them 180. Or remove seats and put couch in there. Push firewall up against the wall. You’ll need to tack the doors shut for strength.
Im not 100% sure, but it could be because the scrub rails, tray and roclsliders are wider then the tyres. My car has alot of poke, and when i didnt have those on i got pulled over withing a few days of having the new tyres and got a warning, but since putting all of those on, ive been pulled over plenty and its never been mentioned.
Old Dirty30 body thrown back on a frame and build a comp truck, That way it's faults won't matter and don't need rego and u get to once again have great fun with it, Give it a 2nd life.
With the original dirty 30 I think you should use it in two ways 1- beers in the shed set as seems a popular idea 2- tool box powered up with welder and compressed air to help maintain the new dirty 30 it’s the cruiser that keeps giving maybe on a roller frame to move it in and out of the shed ect this way every time you service your other rigs you can thank the rig that got you to where you are today
Cut what's left of the original dirty 3o cab in half along the fire wall. Use the engine bay as a BBQ bench area for the backyard. Bonnet as the lid. Use the cab as a covered seat. Keep the doors on it and the roof. Either take out the windscreen and fire wall and have the seats in the proper facing way. Or knock out the back wal and have the seats rear facing with the dash as a behind seat storage unit
I remember parking next to Sooty at maccas in Wodonga in my then 2014 Navara D40... Got rid of that, now have a cool as hell 80 series. Yeah it's a 1fzfe manual... But I plan on boosting it haha... Cheers for the kind words that day shauno
We have used a front of a car above our bar put a wooden plate at the bottom and integrate lights and rails where we can hang our beer glasses on. Aside from that the headlights and turn signals still work, controlled by a switch, which is also nice gimmick from time to time. It is possible to sit in the inside of the car and we also mounted some good speakers behind the grill. Another idea might be to make the bonnet into a grill/BBQ.
Hey Shaun, great build. I think every four wheeler wants to build their ultimate truck. Not being a Toyota guy the only thing that surprised me was how much it weighs, but hey it does pretty well for weighing that much. Congratulations on an awesome truck, and the response to all the questions. Keep up the good work.
Build a frame under the body and put it on castors. Put a BBQ under the bonnet, a big fridge in the cab and a TV in the windscreen. Replace the headlights with speakers. 👍
Cut the back wall out and a section of the roof, then build an outdoor kitchen into the cab/dash! Set it up next to the shed for the next beers in the shed featuring a cooking with Shauno segment, this time in the OG30 kitchen!
Shauno mate , I would put a little canvas from the tray box to the back just to keep things nice dry and clean. As far as the old 30 body goes a nice couch for the shed.
Love the idea of keep part of it for the shed, 💡instead of the grill and headlights on the wall your shed seems big enough half that thing and make a silhouette mount on the wall a proper memorial for the OG Dirty 30 👍🏼
Mount the old 30 Body up on a pole outside your workshop. Similar to how they done it in Deniliquin, NSW. A tribute to the Ute Muster. Just do it 24/7 4WD Style :)
Bigger tyres would set it off! Also a set of custom covers for the back to keep the weather and most of the dust out would be lightweight but good for that
Could you switch your top mount setup around? fit a decent sized condenser up top there, throw some fans under to help with heat soak and put a tidy front mount in
Use thr old Dirty 30, in the shed. It can be the seats for when you guys do beers in the shed. Simply cut the rear wall off, rotate the seats around, and have the dash and stuff as the backdrop behind the seats.
Take the OG 30 shell, pit a small frame underneath it with easy roll castor wheels. Remove the windshield, put 2 seats in it. Then mount a camera to the Bonnet facing back into the cab, then use it for your beers in the Shed! Beers in the cup holderes, comfy seat, put a little flat bit of wood inside the dash to mount your laptop, done!
The old shell could be ur new kitchen in the shed. Engine bay : stove / bbq area Cab : pull out kitchen and fridge space Fix up the rust and clear coat to maintain the dents.
Great work with this car. I would love to build from zero a car too. For the old Dirty 30 The idea of cutting the front and hang it on the wall is great. The cabin could be like benches for a garden and the hood as a BBQ grill. 😎.
Shauno, you should make the old dirty 30 body into a fire pit/lounge. Build up a fire pit in the engine bay and make a bench seat inside the cab so you can sit in the old rig and look over a fire.
I think if you were keen to live out of for longer and wanted more under cover space you should consider a canvas canopy for the rear half. I’m building a dual cab atm and to keep weight down I’ll be running a dog box and for longer trips have the canvas canopy to go on the rear half of the tray
Having the old dirty 30 as a beers in the shed desk is a bloody good shout but I reckon it'd be good content if you, Jocko and Graham put your heads together and made a Frankenstein build... Not road worthy but that cab on a hilux chassis with a td42 powering it and as many goods as you can throw at it. Enter as many comps as you can and see where it goes
Convert the OG30 in to dual perpose. Front in to an outdoor bar and grill, other section in to a beers in the shed section where the camera and laptop can sit on the dash and you can sit in it and look out the front window. Just cut the back section off.
Set up the old 30 as "drive in" movie set up. Dad did it with his old falcon when it was rear ended and written off, was a great thing with some softer seats fitted.
I reckon you should mount the complete side view of the old 30 on the wall (trophy style), with a print background of your favourite location you shared with it
The key to all projects, take so much time on it you cant keep track of all the money you are spending so you arent scared to scratch it later. My fourby is easily over 12k right now or something probably.
Turn the old Dirty 30 body into an bar and BBQ grill. Fit the grill under the bonnet and a fridge/bar at rear window and additional storage or fridge access through the side doors. 😁
This vehicle is the craziest vehicle on RUclips. This is a daily driver friendly on the weekdays as it can be used for work and on weekends it can be used to travel around the world. Sheesh Shauno...
Fully gut what’s left in the interior and set it up as a dog house for Mia and your other dogs. That way you can see it daily and the dogs get to enjoy it while they’re in the shed with you
I could see Shauno is more concerned about revealing the build cost to his family than to us... By the way, you could seal the under hood floor and make it a tool box, cabin can be air tight parts box.
Shauno first off, hailing from Arizona I love the show and love the dirty 30. I think you should take it out back of the shed and turn her into a grilling machine. Open the hood to a beautiful dirty 30 grille wire up the lights and such and have to the lights and all.
You should convert the old dirty 30 into the "Beers In The Shed" set. Take the windshield out and make the bonnet the desk, It would look amazing!
Fully agree to this. A little side show spot.... great idea!
I would even go so far as to wire the headlights, use some old bar work and make it LOOK like a functional rig. Maybe ice chests or fridges under the hood.
Yes!!
Yeah i agree with that
the old dirty 30 body I think you should make it into a car couch or a piece of furniture like that. People use to do that with old Cadillac's. So that way you will always sit in it while looking at your new project while in the shed mate. Hope you like this idea?????
The old dirty 30 can make a “beers in the shed” bar out of it
Oh mate that’ll look real nice
Agree, bar is the go
that would look so good
or a barbecue haha
You should convert the old Dirty 30 into a off road trailer like that one dude did a few videos back with his patrol
This!!!!
This is also a great idea... damn it.
Make it into a garden ornament next to the shed. Open up the bonnet and BBQ under the front
Its about time Graham rebuilds Shorty! Then there will be 2 iconic Legends!!!
I’ll mark it out as a new fishing spot!
I agree! I was a much bigger fan of shorty than I am of the DMax
A shout out to you guys from our neighbors from the west. South Africa.
Love your show and what you have done with the 30. My project is only 1 year in but with covid have been starting to get all the parts.... can't wait to see your next build

@@4WD247 hey Boiz love the show

Well done Shauno, cracking build. It's looks amazing. Shame we don't have the facilties to build motors like this in England. Living my dream
If england can make an F1 engine......
If it weren"t for that plank Drakeford South Wales would have had that Ineos Grenadier plant !
I think the OG Dirty 30 needs to be converted into a BBQ and/or bar
Yes totally agree turn the front of the old dirty into a BBQ
Bbq under the bonnet and old steel tray with a fire pit for the back would be mint
Definitely turn it into a beers in the shed bar! Where the headlights go put speakers and make it so the bonnet lifts up to a barbecue. That would be sick

Love the new 30 but I do miss the old one. Got a question, In your opinion what's the best snorkel? Front Facing, Rear Facing Or Side facing and why?
Congrats mate 👍👌really great to know what's involved in a build like this . . . . and the final details . . . Including the amazing but not surprising costs involved! Turn the old cab into a bar for your shed, always able to share old memories over a cold beer 🍺

Beers in the shed bar is a terrific idea Jamie Rogers, or make a swing out of the cab and wall hanging out of the front grille etc.
4WD 24-7 is one of the reasons why I always look forward on this day every week!

Dont believe they own the old name roothy does
@@jarradblair1793 4wd supercenter has the rights to it all going off roothys videos of the old dvds

Whilst I agree, the OLD 4wd monthly stuff is also gold. I still regret getting rid of my mags, every issue from No 3 up.
Proberbly one of the more honest reviews I’ve seen, well done.

@@larryworrell6324 pretty close. Still amazed how he realized and built this.
Thanks for the lengthy in-depth video, Shaun. I prefer the round headlights on this vehicle. Especially with that bullbar.

Loved this episode I'm a Hilux man meself but the whole build stories on this dirty 30 have me blown away
The answer is $100,000-$120,000 for shauno it was "less"
Put it in a garden bed and plant around and inside it, and make it a feature, get the headlights ect to come on with your outdoor lights
Shaun you should turn the old body of the dirty 30 into a BBQ and keep at your house 👍
With the original dirty 30 I think you should use it in two ways
1- beers in the shed set as seems a popular idea
2- tool box powered up with welder and compressed air to help maintain the new dirty 30 it’s the cruiser that keeps giving maybe on a roller frame to move it in and out of the shed ect this way every time you service your other rigs you can thank the rig that got you to where you are today

Good choice with the headlights, circular looks way better. It's a classic look that you don't see any more in modern cars
Agree. The square quad lights never looked as good on the 60’s. Big single rounds had a more classic style that suited the body.
Build a frame under the body and put it on castors. Put a BBQ under the bonnet, a big fridge in the cab and a TV in the windscreen. Replace the headlights with speakers. 👍
I like the beers in the shed idea, but I can also picture a pretty cool backyard BBQ.
Cut the back wall out and a section of the roof, then build an outdoor kitchen into the cab/dash! Set it up next to the shed for the next beers in the shed featuring a cooking with Shauno segment, this time in the OG30 kitchen!
Turn oneside of the cabin into a fridge, the other side into storage for BBQ equipment and mount the BBQ under the bonnet... Jobs done

Use thr old Dirty 30, in the shed. It can be the seats for when you guys do beers in the shed.
Simply cut the rear wall off, rotate the seats around, and have the dash and stuff as the backdrop behind the seats.
Without a doubt, turn the front clip into an outdoor bbq near the shed. Open the bonnet and have a nice big grill for those big Queensland fish.
You should put canvas on the back half of your canopy maybe? Would make it really neat. Love the vids
Engine bay : stove / bbq area
Cab : pull out kitchen and fridge space
Fix up the rust and clear coat to maintain the dents.
I think you have built the best all around 4 wheel drive vehicle. Excited to see the truck in the next video 👍🏼.
Nice explanation on the auto versus manual debate.
I saw one the other day where they made a pizza oven out of the front of an fj45 using the engine bay as the oven and snorkel as the chimney
Hey Shauno you took all the best bits from Toyota and made one good one! good stuff.....
Would you look at putting canvas walls on the rest of the tray to give it more covered space while also keeping the weight down after the axle?

Mount it to the wall. BBQ in the engine bay and fridge and stereo in the cab.
It’s something I’ve wanted to do to my Datsun 120y coupe.
I feel better im not the only one who has spent 4 years on their 4x4.
When i first got it i said 8 months it will be on the road
I would recommend using the dirty 30 as a "gate guard" in front of your shed or at your front gate
Why not put a canvas sort of canopy behind the dog box it will keep the eight down and give you more storage area that is protected
That Snatch t-shirt looks neat mate!
I could see Shauno is more concerned about revealing the build cost to his family than to us...
By the way, you could seal the under hood floor and make it a tool box, cabin can be air tight parts box.
You should find a corner in the shed and make a nice bar with it. Sit inside have a few drinks and enjoy all the memories! 🍻
Hi from the UK. “GOT TO BE A KEEPER”. Turn it into a BBQ/Seat for outside the shed or in the garden matey🤣👍
Shauno first off, hailing from Arizona I love the show and love the dirty 30. I think you should take it out back of the shed and turn her into a grilling machine. Open the hood to a beautiful dirty 30 grille wire up the lights and such and have to the lights and all.
