  • I know I can get extremely long winded, especially when I'm talking about collecting cards. My excitement takes over and I can't get myself to be brief. In an attempt to counter this habit, I've developed my "Short" Winded series where I talk to my guest and then I have 5 minutes to answer their 20 questions. This week's guest is Matt from ‪@thacardstory5800‬ who is an incredible Hank Aaron and Warren Spahn Collector. He shares his passion for collecting, why he collects what he likes, and the joy he gets from collecting with his son. Then, we see if I can finish his questions in 5 minutes, which is not an easy task.

    My brother and I must've pulled at least a dozen of those Hank Aaron HR King cards from packs back in 1974. It seemed like one of every 10 cards was that one, although I'm sure that was not actually the case. Too funny to see such common cards sitting inside of slabs these days!

    What a great conversation between two dudes that love cards! Those Aaron’s are absolutely beautiful. Home Run derby repeats in the 80’s definitely had a place for a lot of us vintage collectors in our 40’s… Awesome stuff Matt, I’ll have to check out more on your RUclips channel! Graig short winded as ever… 15 seconds left, wow!

    Great interview! Matt is a stand-up guy, been a fan of his channel and collection since the early days. Way to go knocking this out in 4:45! Keep this up and you might even be able to average out our 4-5 minute overage time. You answered correctly with Nintendo over Sega, also. Very enjoyable listen and watch, gents!

    Don't worry about the length of the video..the longer the better in my opinion...I'm 60yrs old..on disability and had to sell my massive collection few yrs ago due to financial problems..now, with my budget, I can only buy 1 or 2 cards, for around $150 per month..it hurts to know the cards I had..especially my near mint mantle red heart..don't know if I'll ever be able to acquire one of that condition again...I just started up again about 2-3, months ago...and watching your channel has helped me gain interest again in the hobby...and as far as people not caring about the value of their cards, in my opinion, just aren't being totaly honest..anytime someone spends money on a collectable I'm almost 100% positive they would like for the card/investment, to at least hold its value or a better scenario of gaining value..it's just natural...keep up the great content..apreciate your time..

    If you go above your time for the next episode you, would still be batting 400! Hasn't happened since Ted Williams over 80 years ago. That's great company to be in. Matt, is a good guy, but my favorite moment was saying your Dad, has watched back the videos, he appeared in. I love that!!

    Graig with the Fergie Jenkins drive-by. Fergie had more than double the career WAR of Baines, a Cy Young award, 5 top 3 finishes, and 3,000 strikeouts. I know what you mean though, maybe not an inner circle guy, but not a fringe guy like Baines haha.

    • @MidLifeCards
      @MidLifeCards  19 дней назад

      I'm actually higher on Fergie than most. I think he deserves the HOF. He was really good for a really long time.

    I wasnt counting but i didnt think you were gonna make it. Congrats on the comeback. A year ago you ranked football RC's from 65 to 79. Would you consider doing 35 to 64? Doesnt need to be a ranking, just a list. I tried to make a list myself but only came up with 17. Maybe for a preseason episode in august. Thanks

    • @MidLifeCards
      @MidLifeCards  19 дней назад

      That's a good question. A lot of channels do lists, so I've shied away from them. For me, a lot of it is about the vintage players for football. Baugh, Graham, Sayers, Brown, Unitas, Starr....those are many of the big ones...

      It would basically, just be a list of the greatest QB's before the modern era.
