Great pick up. I really enjoyed this video. It's so interesting watching modern guys dabble in vintage. Comping vintage cards is a completely different ball game. You can never go wrong grabbing Babe Ruth cards
Don is such a great guy and the hobby is lucky to have him. He’s honest and I can say that because since I was a kid he always treated me good. I’d walk down Brighton ave with my allowance and it was always a great time for me. Thanks always Mr. Don. You are a legend
As a fellow die-hard card collector, your videos are VERY motivational. There are SOOO many cards on my wish list and I know I WILL have them one day. Thanks !!
The nationals was soooo freaking big, me and my buddies would always forget where we saw a certain card. After a day or so into the show, we realized there were numbers hanging up in the ceiling so you know where you were at(like isle 300, 400 or 1100....etc).
I really hope your kiddos know and appreciate how good they have it. That kind of money available to them and spent on them. When I was growing up we couldn't even afford new shoes let alone thousand dollar cards and extravagant card shows. Lucky guy! Nice Bambino!
Honestly, a part of me would rather have the lesser of the 2. That bubble above his hand really takes it away from me. That was all my eye could focus on. Also, if you find the last Ruth but only in an SGC slab, pick it up and cross it over. Easy way to complete the collection at a much lesser cost.
When I went to the nationals last year they gave me a floor plan of all the table numbers listed in the exact layout of the overall setup which I thought was great. This would essentially be my floor map. I used a pen to mark my path along the route that I walked to systematically walk through it vs randomly walk around. If there was a card of interest, I circled the booth table number on the sheet and the name of the card on the back of the sheet. It took me a good 2 full days to cover the entire area.
Growing up in the 80's, I thought that when I became a working adult, I'd be able to buy any card out there. But since then all the card values have gone up an extra 0 or two at the end (like $1500 cards becoming $15000). Still can't afford them.
7:20 - It never ceases to amaze me when people put pricing stickers directly on slabs. It annoys me when it's on a $50 card, but a $19,500 card? Are you kidding me?
1. Yes, do in fact check out Market Movers everyone! 2. That Babe Ruth is 🔥 3. Yes, BUY THE DIP 4. Geoff did that box battle dirty at the end there 😂 so many emotions
I wonder how much security there is in and around an event like this. People are walking around with bags containing thousands of dollars in cards and cash.
Your the best Geoff every time your first to post some of the best content! I’m soo excited about this years National, can’t wait to view all of the good content
Geoff, I really enjoyed this video the most from your channel. It captured the pure fun of the National. The end segment with your son Reaves and his friend really resonated with me. I remember being a tad older than Reaves when I attended the 1991 National in Anaheim, and had the same fun and chemistry with a friend as displayed by Reaves and his friend. (I think you and I may be around the same age.) Seeing that end scene brought immediate flashbacks to the 1991 show and moments with my friend with whom I have not seen in years. I was worried that you would miss out on the Babe Ruth card when you came back for it. One of the worst feelings at a convention is when you come back for something later and it gets swooped on by another collector. Glad you got #3 of the four Ruths. Hope you get #4 in your next video. Thank you for posting this video. Great content.
Amazing card Eye appeal so much better. Then other. Hopefully next year is back in Chicago and I'm not to much worse health wise. These Videos give me chills let alone being their. Anyways amazing 👏
I personally like the 15K Ruth. Overall eye appeal was nicer. On vintage lower to mid grade cards I would rather have even wear on all four corners than have three nice corners and one creased corner. The creased corner just pops out. Also the 17k Ruth looked like it had some kind of bubble right in the middle that was a bit distracting. Just my opinion. Nice card though
The 1st seven seconds of this video pretty much sums up this years national. Just add no parking and $80 for internet and you have the 2022 national. Also add walking around in the ghetto with all the cash and cards you brought to get to the convention center.
Yeah man good luck trying to negotiate down on any significant vintage card. Doesn't matter what the "market is on them". Those dudes won't want to budge much on their prices, period. Gotta premium up if you want it.
Yea only a fool is holding super expensive cards now lol. The last few years is when to sell. Down the road a lot of these cards will be down a fortune I wouldn't want to be holding them long term lol Some may go up but most will come down hard.
Att....Midwest card collecters..ya'll know that..their are almost no Hobby/card shops..until now Rk collectables in Coralville ...I go there at least twice a week...and you should too +++
I just went to Houston card show and got all Dameon Pierce rpa 1/1 signed all on card auto with gold ink. The cards look incredible. How much you think it’s worth? Absolute 1/1 rpa , shield absolute 1/1 I got it signed.
Nice video mate Do you think jordan poole will going up anytime soon I invested in a tone of rookies and also the onyx vintage blue auto im setting on 15 out of 50 and i have the black auto 2 of 5 jersey number so 16 all up . Could you please give me some advice what to start picking up thank you sir
most the people watching this video are like,.....lets see i got 20 bucks until payday for groceries. lets see what i can get to make last. ramen noodle time
Don’t get this rational. Upselling grades cause they “look more like another grade” if that’s the case, I’m selling all my PSA 9’s as 10’s from now on. How can we have consistency in the market if this is how we’re setting prices? Also what’s the point of even grading?

Love the positive energy Geoff!
you can tell that gentleman at the end has been doing this a while. He took that stack of cash without even a little excitement haha. I would lose it.
Great video. Love seeing the pursuit of vintage sets. Good luck on getting #4.
Thank you for post this I was unfortunately not able to go due to myself and my family getting sick.
Hope u guys feel better
Get well soon brother
Hope you get better soon!!
Thank you for letting me and my friend get a chance to talk to you today at the national.

Awesome man!! Good Memories were made there!! Glad your having fun 👊
Always feels great walking into a card show! Especially the national. Which I have never been.

I would grab the green 2.5. it was a beautiful card
That Babe Ruth is awesome! The overall look is impressive.
To really complete the run of 1933 Goudey Ruths, you also need the 1933 Goudey Sport Kings #2. Good luck in the chase!
Love this video, super fun!
thanks for the showing of this awesome event. Jesus bless
Awesome buy! Loves the vid and have a great time at the National. Go Gators! 🐊
Pulled a Ray Allen Pink wave Prizm from a 21-22 Prizm, can’t find one on eBay to compare price too? Any ideas on how to find a comp??
Thanks for the great content! It allows us french collectors to get a taste of the National 👌
Great eye appeal on that card for the grade. Good pickup

Great pick up , That color is unreal !
The eye appeal factor for vintage is a thing…. Need a Eye Appeal grade grading company 😂

Is ebay accepting vault submissions at the show?
Loving the content!
I'm working on my 1983 Wayne Krenchicki set. Tough to find but the price is right ⚾👍
I bet it would be harder to find Wayne than Babe at the National :)
Curious, but what's the story about him for you? Totally an odd player to name, so I assume there's more of a sentimental reason behind it.

Fantastic video and fantastic Ruth card.
im going sunday. are sellers accepting crypto ? what percent of sellers would say are?

Another great video and love the investment in vintage cards. For a second I thought Geoff was going back to the carnival game.
Congrats on the Ruth

It’s crazy to hand someone over a piece of paper with a picture on it, incased in plastic for 16k.
Do you have to pay NJ sales tax on big purchases at the National?
What was the name of the vendor you purchased from, is he online?
Thanks for the content. Awesome video.
HELP: what’s that backpack/slab case that Geoff is using???
Firebox Cases, but they are often sold out. Zion Cases is another option.
Thanks!! 👍
Looks like the last one sold on July 21st for $12,500……appears $16K was high….but nice pickup!
Where did you find that at?
I had the Ruth in a 4.5. Paid $2250 for it in 2001
What a pick up. That Ruth is a a beauty.
