- Video about the Silvertown Tunnel ... watch, learn, and if you agree then take the steps suggested at the end.

Brilliant vid, currently writing a dissertation with the Silvertown Tunnel being a main theme.
Thanks! And good luck with the dissertation!
If the East London crossing (A406 North Circular road) Ring Road extension had not been cancelled so many times in 40yrs there would of been less of an issue at Blackwall tunnel
It would of only costed £500 million (2005 price)
I live in Woolwich and a toll on the blackwall tunnel means I have to drive even further west just to get out of London to the North. Doubling capacity on the crossing but doing nothing for the approach roads (or, shock idea, adding an additional crossing downstream) is madness.
When possible I take the Woolwich ferry which may take longer in minutes but is a far less stressful crossing.
Never understood the point of the ferry, we live in a modern world, and this part of London has only a few crossing, the ferry should be taken out and we need a bridge or tunnel.
Really informative video. Thanks you!
The problem with tolls is that it prices poor people off the road. Maybe the solution is to allocate everyone with a specific number of journeys per year. Those journeys could be sold or graded but the number could be fixed.
Why not use the oldest Blackwall tunnel for pedestrians and bicycles and the other one for public transport?
That's worse. Especially during the weekend when events are happening.
If those areas already suffer from pollution then building a tunnel is a good idea, but East London needs many more tunnel crossing for bus ,train only ,areas like Thames mead need a new railway/underground routes,
Very interesting points that you make. I am sure they are all valid.
ruclips.net/video/wW1WOQ_OtU0/видео.html. The fly-through skips over a seriously dangerous aspect of this development for drivers. There is plainly insufficient space to merge traffic from the southbound Silvertown Tunnel to the Southbound A102. If you are held up by the regular shunts at the merging of the M11 onto the southbound A406 North Circular at Redbridge, you can clearly see that the tinyest mergepoint they have here is completely insufficient. And somewhat highlighted by the cursory, 3-second attention that they have given it in this animation! Definitely hiding something!
Pollution won't really be a problem in the near future (10 -15 years) since the whole vehicle industry is going through electric vehicle revolution.
1. We need to dramatically reduce emissions well before 10-15 years, by then it's too late.
2. The UK is solely stopping the *sale* of new ICE cars - existing ones will still be on the road.
3. As in the video, tyres will contribute to particulate emissions, it's not just CO2.
Poor air quality and violence are 2 reasons why I like to visit London but not live there.
Beautifully explained. Now please cancel this scheme Sadiq Khan Mayor of London.
It's too late. They are already building it
The solution for pollution and carbon is electric vehicles which are well on the way already. Not building the tunnel is stupid because the balckwall tunnel just isn't good enough
Cancel Suqdik Khazi and cancel HS2
Cancel the Silvertown Tunnel.
Should of built the A406 North Circular road East London crossing.
