What’s pretty great is that the CEO of Activision talked about wanting to Xbox to revive Skylanders and Guitar hero in a recent interview. There’s hope for us yet.
We all know they didn't get it specifically for Skylanders, but as fans, we're allowed to gleam hope from this. They wouldn't buy it for nothing. Obviously it won't be instantaneous, we aren't stupid. We want the game, and we want it good. No rushing. And sure, the franchise was niche, but you have to remember it was a massive phenomenon and still has a dedicated fanbase. If they started making the game, it wouldn't be random with no reason. The fanbase have been championing for a new game last year. There is profit to be made.

From a lot of angles, this whole acquisition is a saving grace for Activision because lets just be honest, they've just been the worst company for the past 5 years... They've drove multiple great franchises like Skylanders & Guitar Hero into the ground, and the work environment surrounding the company shows why things have been going downhill. Phill Spencer on the other hand is like the exact opposite of that. He's set on making the Xbox brand very consumer friendly and cares a lot about their image. With this mentality running the ship, maybe they can actually put things back on track? Like hey, here's a stellar plan: First, you put some of the team from Xbox Game Studios onto the COD projects like Warzone or a singular forever live service COD, and stop all these undercooked trash yearly releases. THEN what you do is you TAKE Toys for Bob, Vicarious Visions, Beenox, and whatever other studios needed, and you put them back to work on the projects they originally used to work good on. That means finishing Spyro 4, and then from there, either work on more Crash & Spyro stuff, OR bring back Skylanders and take the series in a new revived direction. Maybe an open world or a live service type deal??? Hmm??? I mean this really is what needs to happen. They seriously need to take more advantage of their IPs more, I'm not just talking about Activision, I'm talkin about Xbox themselves too. Skylanders coming back to a new generation of kids as well as for us OG fans could be a MASSIVE profit that they seriously need to consider. Of course it's going to take a long while, making something like this would be huge, much more massive and ambitious than anything the Skylanders brand has ever done. Certainly the biggest thing Toys for Bob has ever developed. But that probably is the only way for the series to go moving forward if they want the franchise to actually be sustainable and stable long term. Same thing for like if they brought Guitar Hero back. Same thing. They kept releasing too many GH games and sets, it flooded the market, and the franchise fell off. They would need to do some version of the game that would update with music DLC. And it's come out now that Activision are actually talking with Microsoft about the prospects of bringing back BOTH Skylanders & Guitar Hero. They didn't have the funds to continue both franchises, but with Microsoft they would now. BUT both games will need LOTS of planning, development, and they need to manufacture tech for these games Skylanders, Portals of Power, Guitars, and other instruments for GH. On top of that, Toys for Bob is probably still developing Spyro 4. So before they can even begin work on a Skylanders revival, they need to finish and release their current project. So yeah I know, I get it. These things take time. I'm just sayin that this acquisition is actually the best fate for Skylanders. Microsoft will be able to fund the cost of it.
Hope there's more backwards compatible titles on xbox including Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and Giants :) Also Guitar Hero Games would be nice. Hope for a bright future for ActiBlizz after the aquisition.
As a skylanders fan it is awesome to know that there might be a chance a new skylanders game will be released. However i do not have a xbox and have never used one. What does this mean for me? Well any new game from Crash to skylanders to cod are only going to be available on xbox and let me tell you i am not buying a whole new console just for one game(franchise). Just like you said it is awesome that skylanders may get a new game and that all the other games that weren't used for years might get new installments. But that doesn't mean it is happy news for everyone.
Skylanders Halo dlc the flood can obviously be the undead element, the Covenant can be the magic element, the bruts can be the rock element and humans can be the life element and the forerunners and banished can be the light and dark elements 😂😂😂
That would be the dumbest decision in gaming history. If they would make every new cod only available on xbox they would lose SOOO much money, and that's just cod alone and not talking about the other titles they now own. Not a doubt in my mind that they will make (most of) their new titles multiplatform.

Plus a bunch of other franchises were bought in the deal. Also Microsoft is known for collecting IPs like infinity stones and either ruining them (Banjo and Kazooie Nuts and Bolts) or doing nothing at all. But on the bright side at least if they do it, Toys for Bon will be on the project.
I'm only worried about them being xbox exclusive from now on, it'd be a poor choice marketing side of things. Yeah I play on playstation but still, shouldn't mean I can't access future titles in some of my favourite series
The whole mess that was BK Nuts & Bolts wasn't actually decided by Microsoft. In fact, you look at the history of that acquisition and what happened after it, and it paints a much sadder story. One filled with spitefulness. See, Rareware REALLY wanted to be bought out by Nintendo, but Nintendo didn't want to purchase them (idk if the reason why was a whole Japanese Nationalism bias kind of business thing over there since Rare weren't based in Japan, idk that's a bit sus since they really should've bought them) they were on the verge of bankruptcy when they decided they had to bite the bullet and shill out their company to Microsoft in order to stay alive. Most of the OG devs at Rareware were extremely mad at this whole ordeal. They HATED that Nintendo didn't wanna ever buy them since they had always planned on their future to be forever linked to Nintendo. Microsoft only told Rare to produce games Rare themselves thought would sell well to boost the Xbox exclusively brand. They had NO creative strangle hold on Rare. But the demotivated devs lost their drive and their reason to really even care, and just pumped out garbage like Grabbed by the Goolies. This wasn't the future they wanted, they wanted Nintendo, and they were hella peeved about it. Now call me a conspiracy theorist, but I have much evidence to believe that Nuts & Bolts was a SABOTAGE attempt maliciously designed to show the frustrated state of Rare and harm public reputation. Cuz realize this- after all the big Xbox exclusive Rare games released in the 2000s, all the OG devs left. The game itself is riddled with so much self degrading 4th wall humor, the game is self aware that its bad, and that's because it could've been a good game and the mechanics were there, but they specifically DESIGNED it to be mediocre, as one last middle finger to the gaming industry before they all jumped ship. Don't blame Microsoft for Rareware, they and Nintendo got themselves into that mess. You wanna blame Microsoft for actual bad screw ups, take Skype for a good example of really scummy business that they were directly in control of. But yeah, there's a fun little history lesson in how to not set your expectations so high like Rare did. They should've know Nintendo isn't the best company to rely on getting bought by, they tend to wanna do their own thing, plus they were on two separate countries...
@@Tavemanic I'm like fairly 100% certain the mainline COD series isn't going to be Xbox exclusive, and I'm an Xbox player and I know for a fact that won't happen. You gotta think of the logic of this in a lot of ways. 1, Warzone has been and is still going to be linked to all CODs going forward, and all of the microtransactions and progress from those CODs is accessible in Warzone. No way are they going to just cut off mainline titles from all platforms when the mainline CODs are linked to the game that needs to stay cross platform. Even moreso, it's pretty likely that at some point, COD will just be one mainline game that is a forever live service like COD Mobile and it'll just grow and grow with all studios working on all parts of it. That seems like the direction we're heading. So... 2, If they were to do that, they would INSTANTLY gain a MASSIVE load of justified backlash, and they are not at all looking to receive and deal with that mess. Remember that in the public eye, Playstation is still considered the one on top of the gaming industry ever since the PS4 eviscerated the 360s legacy. They are still to this day recovering from the PR disaster that was the failure of the Xbox One. Not to mention the Microsoft corporation as a whole & Bill Gates has already been a topic of controversy among political spheres (that's a whole other can of worms we shouldn’t even get into). If they start taking the major games like COD, Overwatch, & Diablo from the competition, they would instantly be vilified as this evil Thanos type threat who didn't make good exclusives to genuinely garner good reputation again, but instead just lazily bought and gatekeeped games like a scumbag. NO ONE will buy an Xbox then. They won't win against the market. People WILL protest. And I KNOW Phil Spencer wouldn't want that at ALL as if PR goes as bad as it did back then, Bill Gates WILL fire him from his role as CEO of Xbox. 3, it just makes sense money wise. Like why cut off millions of players generating millions of dollars from your revenue stream? Who cares if Sony or Nintendo take a chunk of the sales on their platforms, like Minecraft, they are still making money on their competitors platforms at the end of the day. They will ensure their money flow will never run dry due to that. Why would they just cease a major long term income stream like that? It literally makes no sense from all angles. Sorry that I'm going on too long with paragraphs, but Playstation literally has nothing to worry about with COD. Well- almost. The one thing I DO see happening that would really suck for Sony is that I'm sure at some point, a COD Zombies spin off will be made. But since it would be a spin off, the argument can be made that it'll probably be an exclusive. And that honestly sucks. Even if I'm not a PS player and I'd be good, I only really play COD for the Zombies, and it would suck to be the CODZ fans on the short end of this. I feel that, I remember getting mad when Bo3 switched the contract over and we had to wait a month for Bo3 Zombies maps on Xbox. To have a whole Zombies dream game locked off is awful.

Im a be honest if Microsoft would decide to make skylanders they wouldn't go with a new game just remember what activison did crash bandicoot remasted it did well so they did a new crash . Microsoft might do the same because Microsoft do alot of kids games and alot of adult games so a skylanders is possible within upcoming years as a remasterd .to see how it will do in modern day ( possible talk of skylanders game would possibly be game con this year or 2023 at the earliest)
If they don’t do anything with the game then they will most likely put ssa and giants on game pass or just make them an available Xbox 360 game. Not saying it will but I that there is a good chance
I have an xbox 360, skylanders might be an xbox exclusive and then maybe they wont do skylanders on xbox 360 and focuz on xbox one and xbox series x/s and i cant afford a new xbox. Thats why i am kinda scared ngl.

How can Skylanders be in good hands if they were purchased just because of Call of Duty alone? I just don't get it. I don't understand it at all. It would've been best if the whole purchase never took place. Spyro and Crash may have a good chance of getting another game, but Skylanders is a "Toys to Life" concept where they will have to come up with something new and with Skylanders it'll be challenging (Which is why a remastered version of the game is out of the question). Skylanders is dead! Pure and simple. Skylanders was great in it's time but all good things must come to an end. I'm sorry to say but it is best. The franchise would've wore itself out. They are up there with Banjo-Kazooie, and Conker. Unless they can take tips from Super Mario, Skylanders is no more.

But since it would be a spin off, the argument can be made that it'll probably be an exclusive. And that honestly sucks. Even if I'm not a PS player and I'd be good, I only really play COD for the Zombies, and it would suck to be the CODZ fans on the short end of this. I feel that, I remember getting mad when Bo3 switched the contract over and we had to wait a month for Bo3 Zombies maps on Xbox. To have a whole Zombies dream game locked off is awful.

Im a be honest if Microsoft would decide to make skylanders they wouldn't go with a new game just remember what activison did crash bandicoot remasted it did well so they did a new crash . Microsoft might do the same because Microsoft do alot of kids games and alot of adult games so a skylanders is possible within upcoming years as a remasterd .to see how it will do in modern day ( possible talk of skylanders game would possibly be game con this year or 2023 at the earliest)

How can Skylanders be in good hands if they were purchased just because of Call of Duty alone? I just don't get it. I don't understand it at all. It would've been best if the whole purchase never took place. Spyro and Crash may have a good chance of getting another game, but Skylanders is a "Toys to Life" concept where they will have to come up with something new and with Skylanders it'll be challenging (Which is why a remastered version of the game is out of the question). Skylanders is dead! Pure and simple. Skylanders was great in it's time but all good things must come to an end. I'm sorry to say but it is best. The franchise would've wore itself out. They are up there with Banjo-Kazooie, and Conker. Unless they can take tips from Super Mario, Skylanders is no more.
