I used to get 2-3 canker sores a year up until about 10 years ago when I adapted a paleo-ish diet and cut back on sugar. I can't claim causation, but the diet is the only thing I changed back then.

I used to get them when I would eat sour candies like Sweet Tarts or Nerds... or I if I drank a lot of orange juice. Haven’t had them in decades.

I get them in times of high stress or when I’m getting sick and am run down. When my immune system is taxed.

Supplementing with L-lysine has really helped my recurring canker sores.

They are usually caused by a virus that lives in the nerve root and come out in same place at times of stress or when immunity is down. They are very catching, never kids anyone who has one !!
