Mike, you are a good teacher. Thanks for helping train incoming trade workers. Its going to make a big difference for
NYA Millennial. Here is his video for ICF second level stacking ruclips.net/video/-LgqvLBLVLw/видео.html
As a 40 year veteran Aerospace Engineer, I have lived/worked in 38 Countries and most of those build their houses in Concrete, including the Villa I currently own in the French Riviera. And more than that, living many years in Israel (during both Gulf Wars), I can personally attest to the strength (and emotional support) this kind of construction lends ... have a SCUD Missile detonate 1km from your house and all you lose are your Windows (which got duct taped to prevent glass chards flying) but nothing else moved a mm.
I am originally from Texas ... was there during the Tornado that hit Fort Worth back in 2000. And ever time I see the destruction like we just saw in Kentucky a couple of weeks ago, I just shake my head and ask "why?" ... knowing Insurance (idiots) and the homeowners will probably build back in conventional "wood" methods (and as a young man, I know that as well being a "Framer" for a few years). Same for our Hurricane prone Gulf/East Coasts ... ICF is like a "Boat" (if properly coated). All I can say is thank goodness folks like you are slowly turning the Tide (pun intended) ... I've oft said that if I was POTUS after the horrible loss in Property/Life that accompanies these events, I wish I could have a "Fireside Chat" with the American public and simply read them the story of "The 3 Little Pigs" ... maybe they'd get it.
Y’all make it look so easy, there’s no replacing experience
Thanks
Pretty cool that the ICF block company has a training course and that guy was able to come out and watch your team do this job. Be safe boys.
So true what you said about subcontractors leaving imperfections for the next guy to deal with. By the time you get to the finished product it’s a snowball effect and your house is a mess. I was working with a general contractor awhile back and his foundation guys and framers and drywall crew had all been working with him for around 20 years so they all knew each other and there was good communication and rapport with each other. The end result was straight walls and no nail pops and everyone was happy - including the customer. Makes a huge difference in my opinion.
Mike, this video is truly one of your best instructional videos. I’ll build an ICF home in a couple of years; you’ve helped me a bunch.
Thanks joe and good luck
Really awesome to see that you make time to train and give hands on experience. Thanks Mr. DP and Matt.
it is very wholesome and is the way of the past and the future. trades and all the skills particularly associated with them will be lost to time if those who have the knowledge are too stuck up to teach others
This is such an amazing procedure, love watching. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks
Excellent presentation all around. I’m sure a lot of the trades people, and their customers will benefit the info you shared on this one !! Thanks, John
Thanks
Such an interesting process! My neighbor owned the local concrete outfit and built one but I never realized how much was in it. Always enjoy the videos !
You Sir Mike do an very good job of explaining what you are doing and why " 1/2', 1/4" right of the Line" seen it done wrong before and they messed with it for hours, big fan of ICF and the people like you who care about the guys who are coming behind you, Framers etc. it speaks of the type of work you do and the man you are, thanks for the share, looking forward to seeing Lt. Dan again .
When the job is done. The sky's will part and the beautiful sun will shine. Lol God bless
It's not winter fat now, it's spring rolls
Great work, hats off to the crew!
Would love to build a ICF house! Thanks for the opportunity to watch! Great work!
Excellent tutorial of ICF concrete pour , learned a lot . Great video
Thanks
Very informative. The final looks awesome.
Thanks
Some body was burning the candle at both ends with this early (or late depending on your point of view) upload. I should talk since I'm watching it at 2:20 AM. LOL Love following your vids Mike.
Thanks for the video Mike!
Great job as usual. Be safe and god bless guys.
Love using floor trusses! Electrician and HVAC guys can leave their sawzall in the truck and leave my framing uncut! I use those same brackets for our ledger boards! Great video and job! Have a good day!
Hey Mike, you have a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on, hope those students were all like sponges!!!
Good job all round 💪💪💪
Thanks
Cool stuff! Neat to see this project and how it came out!
Thanks!
Good to see it topped off. That's going to be an energy efficient house.
You run a good crew and passing on your knowledge is great! Wish we used much more ICF here in uk 🇬🇧 it’s rare to see but I like the process and end result ! :)
Good job my friend knew you could do it God bless and your crew🙏🇺🇸👍
It was most interesting, your doing a good job.
Great video and job, thanks for sharing. Kevin
Looking good. Thats a lot of windows to work around!
Awesome knowledge with the video. I didn't know about icf until I began watching your vedios 😃👍❤️
Thanks
That had to be the smallest leaf blower and longest extension I've seen . It's amazing how having the right tools saves you so much time and labor .
Yup
It's all about the tax depreciation. The more equipment, the more tax deduction. Eaglegards...
Yeah, I had one of those come in a dewalt set and thought it sized to blow the dust off the workbench. But really, he's not blowing a 1/3 acre of leaves into a pile, it works for the task at hand.
that would be great for matts company. great products. thanks for the great vids. cheers.
Makes me wanna build an ICF house!
It’s been a great experience!
Thanks was a blast working for you guys
👍 yeah 👀 the wall move & the adjuster extension was spot on helpfull.
Yup
Awesome work Mike
Thanks
Great video lots of information. And I like the new release time of this video
Wrap a little bit of electrical tape around the joint of the socket extension when adjusting the Plumb wall braces. It stiffens it up just enough to make it much easier to get it into the nut. Learned that from an experienced mechanic.
thanks for the video Mike
Thanks
Very informative!
Thanks
Great job DP!
Thanks
looks great, nice work, stay safe..
Thanks bob
Thanks.
Geweldig gedaan top job 💥🤩👍👌💪 Groetjes uit Holland 🥰👋🏼🌷🌷
That came out rather darn nice! Having the right stuff to work with was key.... It proves that the right tools, right materials and right minded people are priceless!
Mikey this was a superb video.
PS: thanks for subscribing to my channel. It makes me want to up my game!
Thanks buddy and did your video with Brandon nice job
@@DirtPerfect appreciate it... thnx again!
Yeah a lot of times those little tiny pieces of experience are priceless especially when you’re coming to something like this it sounds simple which it is but it’s not textbook simple as they would like it
Happy late birthday Mr Dirt Perfect hope u had a wonderful birthday buddy
Thanks
Thank you for your videos.
Glad you like them!
I like the posting time as well.
nice job, great info
Thanks
I wish you were over here in Australia when I saw a guy build his house with icf he had no idea what he was doing and core filling the walls took for ever and blew out around the windows what a mess. You make it look easy and do an awesome job
Who paid for THAT mistake....I sure hope it wasn’t the home owner.
Thanks Mike and Matt for this educational video. Mike, what is the R-value as the walls stand now and do you stud up and insulate inner walls. Thanks again. God Bless.
hey if you ever demo a building with a rubber roof try and save strips of the roof a few feet wide super handy for job site walkways when you expect a mud pit
Great video Mike that’s a big building, how many square feet is it going to be? Show us after it’s complete. Thanks
Think we need start a protest to see the bed install video of lt dan .;)awsome video buddy as always just good tv
Great video
Thanks
Mike, I enjoy the ICF builds. How about an interview with a family a year later in their home to discuss how they like the
their home.
👍
I pumped one of them ICF Jobs today here in Ireland it was only a small one 5 cube in it just an extension onto a House
Job 👍 well done 👌
Thanks
Plumwall would be smart to let you keep that system so it would keep being seen in use on the channel.
Great videos love watching them. I have a question... first lift (basement walls), does the next row of blocks need to be clipped vertically to the last pour? Noticed the concrete is poured above the brackets, so securing with clips can't be done. Or does it hold without the use of clips.
Newbie here in Prince edward Island starting a self icf build in the spring.
Thanks
Maybe a new enterprise, ICF basics by Dirt Perfect. I learn something about ICF every video you do on them.
Thanks
Nice
Interesting to see that the company is moving away from ICF installations. I have learned so much from watching you do your ICF thing.
Been moving out for over 10 years 😁
I know NYA Millennial doesn't want to lose subscribers because they cannot find him. Matt I am sure you will get plenty of subscribers.
DJI drone? It the great video!!!
Yes
We use an orbital sander and a rebar shaker to help vibrate the concrete. Just saying.
I’m surprised the advertising for Plum Wall did not justify giving you the braces for free. They must cost a lot more than I thought.
does your bracing system have brackets for handrail on the inside? when I did a icf commercial job the bracing we use had handrail for fall protecting it just snapped right in then you slid 2x4s through the 2 slots worked pretty good. even though the walkway is under 6ft so you can get away with no handrail its not a bad idea. also watch how the walk boards overlap sitting one way is great the otherway is a loonytoons joke setup
Yes check out their website
So what are you planning on doing scene you getting out of the icf building.? You going to stick to working dirt ? Good video !!
Daniel from central Mississippi
Yup covered up will still do some
Like the new posting time Mike.
lol thanks was a accident
@@DirtPerfect you can have more of those if you like lol.
firewoodfred says " I know how it is with the weather. Been trying to get a wall backfill job done. Every time we schedule it rains and its too muddy. That's life in Brighron Mi".
Happy Birthday DP didn't get a dictionary for your birthday then 🤔
When I did remodeling and add ons we never did whole walls like this. We just used the insulated blocks for the basement, then stick framed the rest. We didn't need concrete in the walls above the basement.
My brother built ICF all the way up like this one. So quiet and warm.
@@anoka114 Cool! Here in Kansas City there are a few basement houses and earth contact, but most houses are stick framed w/insulation. The concrete walled homes sweat so bad they have a lot of mold issues.
@@jamesdiehl8690 with insulation outside and inside I have a hard time understanding how they would sweat.
@@anoka114 It was the type of soil I think. Around here the backfill has so much sticky packed clay and limestone rock in it. Back then builders didn't use French drains around the base. We all thought there leaks somewhere, but there weren't. But you could see black mold growing on the forms. Builders would strip off the inside foam, then they started put a sealer on the outside and adding drains.
So much for not walking in the mud, careful what you say. Look at your pants and boots, mud everywhere 😂👍🇺🇸
Looked like a well oiled machine going on there at that job site...
is that the same “Matt” that you poured 1/2mile of driveway awhile back...?
You have some awesome subscribers. That extension looks like the perfect length for you.
Yes I do thanks buddy
A little long for MBTS though. Lol God bless
Nice video and info you had said before that fox blocks gave a straight wall with less bowing question do you think it’s because of the 6 inch tie spacing versus 8inch spacing?
Thanks
Other way around fox block sucks they are all different sizes. Does help around doors and windows because of the inch spacing
there is now way i would walk or stand on the bracing i cant most of the time walk in a
straight line. a podcast with living legend dozer man jerry would be a great podcast
Hoping to get him on
I think DP said Jerry is a little camera shy on close-ups in one of the other videos though I could have misheard him.
good video
Thanks
Morning DP and MBTS. That kind of concrete jobs make me mad. Honestly they would have to clean it up
Agree. Maybe they did a quality job otherwise, but no excuse for that mess not being cleaned up. I'll give 'em a pass if the concrete was free. 😉
Good explanation how do they run the wire on outside wall of icf
Just cut a grove
My Nudura class in 2020 was cancelled because of the Corona AIDS in the UK I am looking at taking it once they open up again I am also looking at flying to the USA for a class once the flight bans are lifted.
Hey Mike, When watching you put that first piece of foam on in slow-mo, I thought I was watching a cartoon where you at the end, would get "WACKED" on the head with the board, and see cartoon "BIRDS" flying around your head. LOVE it man keep it up!!!!! Later : }
Lol
you should think about getting a boom truck if your going to do basements regularly. the reach is amazing you will find yourself using it for all kinds of things and if you get one with a nice open flatbed you can carry all your bracing on the truck combine with a concrete pump trailer and your a one stop shop you can hang the pump hose from the crane and have the capability of a big pump truck. crazy thing is though the pump will cost more than a boom truck with a 100ft boom
Had one sold it was just in the way all the time
Good morning Mike I know you are a big fan of ICF . Are there any negatives of using this over a removeable form type or a block type wall ? I saw one RUclipsr/contractor that said he doesn't use this type of system , because in his area no exterminating company would give any type of warranty against termites and other insects because they don't leave visible signs . I guess those critters go behind the foam ?
No
A lot of windows 🪟 my wife would love that.
Mike you did a good job explaining how things work. Now why are you wanna get out of this type of work?
My foundation is crumbling away from water and sunlight damage. There’s a hole about the size of a fist now. Majority of the plaster coating is flaking off. I could use any advice so I can fix it myself. I had 4 masonry contractors to quote me, and they are from 3200 to 9k... any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve looked on RUclips and not really happy with the videos out. Thanks again
I’m surprised that you don’t scabble the top of the concrete (mechanically remove grout back to aggregate) back when I was pouring walls the engineers were really hot on it !
I mean on the cured top of the wall that will become the bottom of the next pour, The idea is to increase the strength of the joint.
just as a point of interest. a couple of weeks ago when you were working on the truck build, i mentioned to you in a post, that i thought the frame looked like it had a small curve in it. you8 said NO, it was straight, and i should look again. well you were right, and as always, i was wrong. believe it or not, it is my screen for the computer. the screen i have is a 32 inch CURVED L.E.D. screen, and watching you or anyone doing a straight wall, it looks like the walls have a curve in them. SORRY for doubting your work
lol thanks buddy
I didn't know you were at Mian level, The Aztec's were good but Mian? Wow,lol
What brand of truss bracket did you use and are you happy with them? Also do you put some type to moisture barrier between he trusses and the concrete in the wall? Wish you worked in the north end of state. Not much in the way of ICF contractors up this way.
Yes
37:28 :) LOL
What is the DeWalt vibrator tool? It looks like an attachment on a impact driver or a hammer drill but probably isn’t.
Does one of your videos show the best way to remove the PlumWall braces without having them collapse or pinch your hand when you pull out the pins. Do you remove the pins first or the angled support from the floor? We will be removing our first use of them this week and want to do it safely.
Yup have a video on it thanks
for those windows how do you get the bottom wood piece to lock into the nudera blocks? or do you get rid of the teeth to place the base of that window on top of the block? And how do you keep the concrete from pushing out do you place straps all around it and seal it?
Strew before you pour
I heard the one worker state that this build was done in Kentucky. I am finishing up plans with my designer and I am planning an ICF Nudura house build in Florence KY. I noticed that you used the same size Nudura on the first floor as on the basement and Nudura recommends 8" basement and 4" first story? Would you be the go to for my build by any chance or have a good company to recommend for that area?
I don’t know who from Nudura told you that but they are wrong and switching sucks ass only do that as a last resort
oh he told me I am just to impatient to wait
Mike, why don't you have them vibrate the ends of the braces for the whole wall, or doesn't that work.
Drywall guy will kill me
Do you put ply board directly up against the ICF wall before you drywall? Or is there some other barrier that we use? Like it gets layered ICF/ply board/drywall/plaster/paint....I can’t imagine you would need to put insulation and other materials when the weight bearing wall is already insulated.
I usually see people put sheet rock right up against the foam, after the plumbing and wiring.
Yep straight to wall
