- An Update on TS Beryl - now entering the Gulf of Mexico
Tropical Storm Beryl has weakened below hurricane strength while crossing the northern Yucatán Peninsula, with current winds at 65 mph. It is moving west-northwest and is expected to re-enter the Gulf of Mexico tonight, where it will re-intensify. The track has shifted more to the northeast - and could continue to do so.
Hurricane and Storm Surge Watches are issued for Texas Gulf Coast, with potential flash flooding and life-threatening rip currents expected through the weekend. I will issue more updates as conditions warrant.
