Thank you for sharing this heartbreak Susan. Important lesson!
Absolutely! Thank you so much, Patricia! I always love seeing you. xoxo
Sending a virtual hug Susan. ❤ Thank you for showing us this. Extremely shocking to me that your amazing piece wasn't appreciated by your customer.
Hugs and loves to you too, Carolyn, it's okay on this one and made for a nice opportunity to share the video. I will start on it again Monday morning. xoxo
It's a real shame that your client doesn't realize that's the way it's supposed to be designed. Bonding with stones is no joke! Much love for showing us how to do this and for being so vulnerable to share.
Thank you so much, Alison! I agree very much, bonding with the stones is exactly how I work first. xoxo Thanks for watching and for this lovely comment! xoxo
I totally feel your emotions❣️🙏🏻
I was a tattoo artist for 23 years and there was a rare occasion or two where this type of situation occurred. Guessing you can only imagine working with a permanent medium on the customers body.......
I have to say that having a positive attitude and digging deep into my calm, just like yours, got me through.
Bravo to you for your grace👏❤️😁
God Bless and love to you🙏🏻❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this experience of your art too, Renee! I can't even imagine the amount of calm music I would have needed if this were a permanent medium such as ink and skin! WOW, you've got the grace, Lady! I agree about maintaining attitude and calm... it is a privilege to have 'art' as my full time career and it is a privilege to have customers who want my artistry... I also keep these blessing right in front of my eyes as I work... gratitude is a huge factor in the love I have for my studio and the material I work with. God bless and loves you too! xoxo Thank you again!
Even the main unit is so beautiful
My spirit jolted when you removed the flame unit
Thankyou for showing us the grit!❤
Thank you for your kind and supportive comments, Val! I appreciate you! xoxo
Oh my sweet friend, I almost don’t know what to say?!?!. I don’t know why things like this happen, the timing certainly sucks!. But…the good thing is…you knew you didn’t have to do this alone, that puts you in the right direction. You are a very blessed, intelligent person and you are never alone, you have a new family who wants you close, and you have us, a mutely crew to be sure but we love you so MUCH!!!. How can you loose?!?!, even this piece, you made it into optional parts, I would never have thought of it!. Thank you for allowing us to be there for you because you can always count on us!. ♥️🥰
Thank you for your support and love Consuelo! This is okay, it made for a nice rare experience I could share with all of you live and yes, I needed all of you there with me too! This is the one and only time in 18 years I've done this, so it was worth recording for new artists to know that these things can happen. I appreciate you!! xoxo
My heart is breaking over the deconstruction of such a magnificent piece! Sending a big hug!
Thank you so much, Heidi! Yes, this is the one and only time I've ever done this so I felt it made for a good video experience to share. Big hugs back! I appreciate you!
Hello Oxana, in my personal opinion I think the design is very pretty, maybe the client has another design in mind, that's why I personally design first on a sheet of paper, I show which stones to use in the design and the materials to use, if the client accepts I do it. The client is always right and there is always a first time for everything, because something similar happened to me too, so I learned to design first for those special clients who always buy from me. And that way I can play with my own designs for general sale. Greetings. A hug, you design beautifully.
Hi Sofia! Yes, normally more design time and sketch go into things but this was the one time, in 18 years that I let the customer 'have the design'... she is a long time friend as well as customer so I don't mind this one, but it is a rare experience so I thought I'd share it for newer artists that might not have had this happen before. I do both intuitive design as well as sketched, but sometimes, even that changes during build. I appreciate your input as an experienced artist too! I think it's good for new ones to know it can happen. xoxo Many thanks for the hugs and I send mine in return!
Ps... this is Izzy, not Oxana, but she's a great teacher too! 🥰
IT IS GORGEOUS!!!! This is a sin.
Thank you so much, Amber! This is and will be the only time, so I felt it was worth sharing. I appreciate you!
@@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry and we appreciate YOU.
I always!!! Tell my clients that I must have 'total artistic freedom' when commission designs.
Yes! That's a woman who knows her artist within! This is the only time I've ever let customer have design option so I felt it was a good experience to share. Total Artistic Freedom is always my case in the past 18 years too, but this created a rare video for me, so I will take it at that. Thanks for your comments! I appreciate you!
I feel your pain. This will probably happen to me one day. A large part of my business is commissions and the only ones I truly enjoy are the ones who trust my vision 100%. People want something specially made for them, but don’t really know what they want. I’m not a wrapper although I do work with wire a lot, and I learn so much by watching you and some other wire artists. That said,I bought a set of Tronex cutters. If you haven’t tried them, I highly recommend. You can really get them into any tight spaces.
Tronex cutters... I will put those onto the list for my new studio, I appreciate your comment and support very much! Yes, this was the one and only time I've done this, so I felt it was a nice rare, and raw experience to share with new artists. Thanks again!!
You made such a smart design too. So ingenious omg I am tense and sad watching this 😮
I know... I was really proud of this one, thank you again, Nikki! xoxo
best of wishes to you and your move and new life
Thank you so much, Mary!!
I’m so sorry you had to do that. Sending you love and hugs. Sorry I couldn’t watch live, I think it was around 12am when you went live, so I was sleeping. I hope your stomach ache has gone, and that you’re feeling much more relaxed today. Look forward to seeing you soon x❤
Thank you, Lesley! Yes, this was the first and only time I've done this so I felt it was an experience worth sharing with other artists. Much love in return! I appreciate you for your beautiful comments, they keep me going!
❤❤❤it was such a beautiful peice, 🎉🎉😢 much love Izzy
Thank you, Nancy, it was, but so will be the next version of it. xoxoxo much love!
Oh my friend...this is an interesting situation! Watching this, is making me want to write out policy and return notes for ANY customer that I personally handle. I understand the tummy aches while taking this apart. Been there.
Thanks, Genni! Thanks for being in there too, I missed a lot of chat and went back to review it... much love! I felt it might be a good thing to share for other artists who I know do commissions too. And it was a good video considering there will never be another one like it. ;) lol! First and only time.
You could use the flame as a base for a rocking guitar base
Great minds think alike! I see the guitar in this frame too, thank you for the awesome suggestion! xoxo
So sorry you had to go through this. It was so beautiful! Please do show us the remake when you’ve finished it. There’s just no accounting for taste, is there?
Thank you, Carol, I will do that when it's finished. I plan to start on it again tomorrow. xox
I allow the client to give me idea of whether they like more weaving, wraps, swirls, etc. But that's it! I would definitely charge what ever my cost & labor is to redo
Actually, that's better said, that's about all I normally do too... if they don't already have a 'flavor' or style I know, then I ask them to check out my gallery, show me what catches their eye... we can normally get a feeling for if they like weave or hammered bare frames, etc from that conversation. Thanks for your input as a seasoned artist here too, DD, it's valuable information for our new wire wrappers! Your channel is beautiful too! xoxo
@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry Exactly! Gallery visit is perfect, plus perfect time to mention gifts. Your a fab artist. Love your STYLE🥰
@@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry P.S! Thank~You💐
とても素敵です😍💓
Oh my goodness! 😢
Was this live? I didn’t see a link for live.
Hi Carolyn, this was impromptu live because I got the word from my customer that she wanted a redesign on this piece, so I was about to cut it apart and then decided that I should record it for us. These are all irregular lives that I've been doing because of my relocation (my schedule is not on schedule and won't be again until end of July when I'm fully moved)... so I'm just sharing as much as I can but will give notice to members as I can... today was a heartbreak for the deconstruction of this piece so I just 'did it' on camera. I'm sorry I didn't give notice, I will try to as I go, at least to Members. Your Membership livestreams are always announced in your Community Tab tho. These impromptus have been completely random. Much love and thanks for your understanding!
@@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry no worries. I just didn’t see a live link😉. That was a heartbreaker!
I can see the main frame reused to make a jellyfish
Brilliant!! I can see that too now! Great suggestion for reusing this metal, thank you!!
🥺
I know. ❤️
Possible to send a drawing before you actually wrap? That would have made me cry.
There is definitely a sketch on her redesign. ;) This was just a very rare exception and case, so I shared it.
Surely as a business, you have to charge for the labour and materials that have gone thru this process. I am gutted for you. That opal is awesome 🤩. Cant she draw what she is seeing if she an artist, so you have better guidance. I am so sorry 😢
Thanks, Nikki, this is a one and only rare time, so I thought it was a good experience to share. Yes, we were planning a few more sketching sessions before the build, but my relationship here in household is breaking up, so that took us off course with this 'idea' to let her design the piece. She is a long-time customer/friend, so she was the single exception I've ever made to give customer the design option, but this type of thing can still happen, so I thought it might help new artists to know, it can happen. Thanks again!
Can you just send her back her stones and end the transaction, rather than re-do it (and maybe have her change her mind a second time)?
Great question, Jayda! Those things need to be established ahead of time... your 'rules' that I speak about... if you give them one additional wrap or redesign, then you need to honor it. If your beginning 'rule' is.. no redesign... then yes, you could remove the wire and send her back her stones (you should have already been paid for materials and half the labor - those are nonrefundable things unless you choose to refund some of the labor but most don't, that I know of... you just also don't collect on the outstanding labor either tho).
This is a long-standing customer as well as dear friend now... I made this an example for my students, members, and viewers but really, if I said I didn't want to or couldn't rewrap it, she would totally understand. She offered to pay more for the redesign also, so this is another mark of a great customer who you want to keep... I didn't even need to discuss additional money for more wire, she offered it).
I'd never return the stones this point because I love this Opal and I want to make this piece and I want my customer to have her design too. My household breaking up is what took me out of convention with this one but it made for a good experience to share with everyone... my guess is that most artists will experience something like this during their career. See you tomorrow at Members Livestream I hope! Thanks again!
Never again, right?
Completely right. ;) Thanks for being here with me.
Awww, that’s rough 💜
