When I lived in England in Bournemouth - fish and chips were my favourite. I could eat it practically every day. And English breakfast too))))) since then I'm in deep love with baked beans and toast)))))
number 10: mouse in baked beans 🤯
I’m half British born and raised in Canada.
Whenever I’ve made the trip to England to visit family, I’ve throughly enjoyed a good old fashioned Beans on Toast for breakfast. I order it a lot when I’ve gone out to eat there.
I also love a good Fish and Chips.
I'm here because, as a German, I was interested to see if there was anything else in England besides baked beans on toast and fish and chips. I am positively surprised. This all looks very tasty^^
Ich bin Brite und finde, dass unser Essen einfach und leicht ist, andererseits aber auch köstlich für das, was es ist
For a country that's also known for its unappealing cuisine, these foods look delicious
-A Brit
As someone who migrated to the UK from Switzerland, a place where most people predominantly eat italian and french food and only eat swids food on special occasions I gotta say that I prefer british food over both french and italian. This is going to sound ironic, but I particularily love the spices used in british food. Still love french and italian though.
Coming from Ireland, I can honestly say I can’t get enough of any of these dishes🤤😋
So, what is the best dish in Ireland? 🤔
@@stardustgirl2904 My favourites are steak & kidney pie, Sunday roast and traditional breakfast fry-up
The fish and chips have taken over the New Jersey United States as well. There is one guy who sells fish and chips, nearby my house, Precisely, near the petrol/gas station. I do not know if that fish and chips authentic, but I love them so much. And I had a full English breakfast, and it was bloody brilliant. Love from across the pond.
@@BOBBY-FRANKY I wish a happy Christmas to you and your loved ones in England as well. thank you for brightening my time, since I'm going through a lot.
@@BOBBY-FRANKY thank you for enlightening, your fellow Brit, that was really encouraging. Thank you chap.
@@BOBBY-FRANKY US is my second home after England. It is just a bigger version of it, besides subtle, cultural differences. when I get home sick, I'll just go to an Irish pub and the homesickness will go away. And people do appreciate my dry humour, since the American humour is more direct.
@@BOBBY-FRANKY I will certainly say hello mate. and Irish people are indeed one of the nicest. individuals and I have admiration for them. Woody Allen, he is one of my fave as well.
@@BOBBY-FRANKY even though I am in my 20s, I enjoy classical music. people call me old soul because of that.
I also admire Led Zeppelin, and the Bee Gees. I love the 80s in general, it is just awesome. How about you, Sir?
Claiming the 'Chicken Tikka Masala' the very old indian punjabi dish is originated from England not India is so funny guys 😂😂😂😂
It’s an England dish based off Indian food, that Indian restaurants adapted because it was so popular
Not as funny as your lack of understanding
We have a similar kind of dish in the states, we ca it halal foods. It is basically chicken over rice, and a chicken gyro, which is basically a chicken sandwich, but in a pitta bread. It is invented by Middle East and people in the United States, so there is no fuss about chicken tikka masala.
And have you ever tried that old dish compared to a chicken tikka masala? not the same thing.
If we can accept a Vindaloo is Indian despite being inspired by and named after a Portuguese dish, why is this so far fetched?
It originated in Glasgow though, so it's not even English.
I love The English breakfast. Jacket potato with beans & coleslaw.
Chunky Chips with Tomato ketchup. Raspberry Trifle.
♥️💙

Stew and dumplings, another British classic!
So glad fish and chips are number one
Truly couldn't be anything else!
@@WatchMojoUK I would gladly eat fish and chips over whatever Americans eat
Americans just eat bacon covered cheese chicken
(This is just a joke ok)
Thanks for the spoiler👍

Honestly, this should've been a top 20 list because there are so many great british dishes. Let's not forget Lancashire hot pot, cornish pasties, scotch eggs, cream tea scones, bubble and squeak, sausage rolls, and apple crumble
Top 40 even
Coronation chicken ,Victoria sponge, scone ,rhubarb crumble

Fish and chips is getting popular worldwide, even in Japan! Now if I can only find me some shepherd's pie to try...
Just fried lamb mince add gravy and mashed potato on top, sometimes add grated cheese and put in the oven. Cottage pie is beef mince. Shepherds pie is lamb mince. It's really easy to cook.
This video makes me both miss my mum, and very hungry 🥺🤤

I agree with most of the list, except I think they should remove haggis and add coronation chicken instead.
Sir, good dish, Nice presantation good food prepration 🎉🎉🎉🌹🌹🙏🙏
If I lived in Ireland or the UK, I think I'd take a Toad in the Hole, Trifle, Full English, or Sunday Roast any day, but I DO LOVE fish and chips. Loved fish and chips since I was a kid, and I have a feeling I'll still love them far into the future.
Until the cod is fished out. Anybody want Talapia and chips?
I'm American, and every dish mentioned in this video feels like home.
I love thinking about where I came from.

So many great foods I miss after leaving the UK.
I’m American 🇺🇸 we just cook a whole cow back and stand by the grill asking people if they “Want Some Cow Back”
🤔 Are you kidding me?. Fish and chips 🍟. Once the staple of working class people, are now a luxury very expensive food. One would now have only on special occasions, like a birthday treat etc......
You can buy cheap fish and chips from the freezers of any supermarket and cook them yourself.
I fancied a fish and chips on Saturday. £9.50.
I settled on a sausage supper at £6.
My local chippy gives you a filling meal for the same price as a unsatisfying one at McDonalds. Sure if you want to go large it's expensive, but who has the stomach for that? And I'm a fat fuck.

Came here after I heard Horror Stories about British kitchen.
Boy these are mouth-watering.
Never believe the lies!
British food is great but most British people can't cook. So it balances out as a mixed bag

I love your videos and thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍
I'm an expat in Canada. Got week and truly drink on Sat night. My Canadian boyfriend says what do you want for lunch. My reply "fish, chips and mushy peas". They were so good. He won't touch the mushy peas lol

Roast Dinners are the best, but Christmas Dinners are magical
You said it 🔥
That is the only one time that I was able to eat Brussel sprouts (I like them, don’t kill me)
I love fish and chips on a Friday 😋
I'm American, and some of these sound pretty good
Very nice ❤
Haggis is a brilliant food especially with a whisky sauce and Indian Restaurants in Scotland have Haggis Pakora on their menus and it is to die for
As its deep fried and dripping in grease, to die for, is quite an apt description.
Roast dinner should be number 1
I make really good Toad In The Holes. For you veggies, may I recommend substituting vegan sausages. Try putting a good beer in your steak and kidney pie gravy and using flaky pastry, the beer will make the gravy yummy and make the pastry rise higher. If you like mushrooms, add them to the pie. Try putting onions and vegetables in with your roast beef or pork. 😋
Just had a bowl of baked beans. 😋❤️
I think we need to turn the stereotype around that Britain have rubbish food it doesn't our food is great.
definitely!
The stereotype comes from decades ago when everything British, not borrowed like food from India, seemed to be dishes where everything was boiled to death and had no seasoning.
I'm an American who appreciates anything British, and I can go for the full English breakfast right now
I agree there are quite a few on this list I thoroughly enjoy
It’s mostly Americans who judge our food but they eat plastic cheese and food big enough to feed an entire family themselves so their opinion isn’t really valid
Number 20: frog inside frozen vegetable bag
I was born and raised in Chicago, but I heard about the full English breakfast. I hate to admit this, but my mouth was watering seeing all that great food. Question, though: what exactly is “blood pudding”? I’ve heard of it, but never saw it mentioned.
Now, there are many Americans that have roasts on Sundays, maybe once a month, but since I’m Italian, we usually had Italian dishes on Sundays.
During Lent, we NEVER had any type of meat on Fridays, but some sort of fish, or spaghetti. I think it’s time that I continue that tradition.
I think I will look up how to make, from scratch, of course, some of these dishes. I normally don’t make fried foods, but fish and chips sounds yummy. Now, my husband’s ancestors came from England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, German, and a few other countries. Me, as far as I know, I’m German, Irish, Italian and Lithuanian. Since my grandma had an affair and became pregnant with my mom and my uncle, I honestly don’t know what other nationalities I could be. My mom and my uncle are the only two, of her family, that have olive skin, black hair, and hazel green eyes.
Anyway, I think I’m going to try some of these dishes. I hope that I can find the ingredients here in the States…
❤
Its called black pudding.
Black pudding, or blood sausage, is blood and meal, spiced then cooked in a sausage skin. The word 'pudding' is usually reserved for the dessert, but black pudding is a word derived from French 'boudin', meaning sausage.
Some of the best British food in my opinion:
Sausage rolls
Roast dinners
Fish and chips
Toad in the hole
English breakfast
Roast dinner will always be #1
As an Anglophile across the pond I have yet to have 'regular' Haggis, here in the States due to the whole 'Mad Cow Disease' scare of the 1990's - same for not having Seso tacos since then, but if/when I can ever get to the U.K. I want to try it.
Traditional haggis is illegal in the US because the slaughtering process can allow stomach acid to contaminate the rest of the contents. That's why sheep's lung is illegal in it. You can get American made haggis without the sheep's lung.
Calling yourself an Anglophile then going on to reference a Scottish dish; they’ll love you north of the boarder 😂
I just wanna say in some ways British food and German food are quite similar
Kippers, one of the best things ever
When I was in London the one thing that I wish had gotten was a Sunday roast if a ever get a chance to go back to London (or any part of the uk That’s the first thing I’m going to get)
I actually love a good savory pie, but haven't had steak and kidney pie since I visited in the 90s. I do often make a steak pie or beef pie. And if anybody knows of a good British restaurant or some place that serves good British food in New Jersey, please let me know because this list has me salivating
I don't want to eat kidneys 😮🤢🤮
I'm hungry now ;(
🤣 us too.
Butter and Cucumber sandwich 🥪 😋
I've never had one, that's too posh
@@branthomas1621Too posh? Are you living in the 1700s or something?
Chicken tikka masala is not a British dish
It is a copy of butter chicken and it is a Curry which is older than Western civilization
Moreover it was invented by south Asian born in South Asia not Britain and it's geographical origin is also unclear as many claim it to be invented in punjab
Stop stealing other's food just because your food is nasty 🤢
I can confirm that trust me it agitates me when they like to steal our South Asian foods when it's not even there's it doesn't belong to them they don't own it belongs to the people of South Asia.
Also they claim chicken tikka masala as a "British dish" then funny enough why does the racist people call us (Pakistanis, Indians and Bangladeshis) pakis when funny enough these same racist people loved to gauge down there ugly pig faces on our delicious and exotic cuisines.
Fucking hypocrites 😡
I love all of the foods mentioned with the exception of haggis. I've just never been able to convince myself to try it.
I can't stomach offal but haggis is genuinely tasty. Its basically just a very peppery mince.
My dog absolutely loved haggis. He was almost tremble while it was cooking and I've give him a couple of slices (I slice it up..) I've even caught him digging in the bin to get the wrapper. Now and then, I'd treat him to a full one and there was never a happier dog.
The biggest empire ever wasn’t built on nothing…
In todays Britain, so many cultures exist it’s hard to distinguish what is British. It’s quite a celebration of culinary delights.
As someone from the USA, Shepherd's pie & chicken Tikka masala are the only dishes I'm familiar with out of this video.
Tikka masala is Indian bruh😂

Ah, well that explains why my maternal grandmother and my mother who were both English would not let us eat fish and chips except for on fridays, when I was a child in the 70s; in Denmark where I grew up, then we did not have that rule...here chips were only eaten as take aways when you were literary far away from your own kitchen and had not brought sandwiches with you, which meant we only ate them around once a month or so. But really, as delicious as they taste, then chips are horrible for your health.
That first entry told me Jamie Oliver has no clue how to make a proper Yorkshire pudding.
Is that a pair of god damn hotdogs on the thumbnail fry-up....

British food is delicious
US Cuisine>UK Cuisine
Across America good food meant French food. Everything is buttered and sauced whether it's a duck or a lowly snail. But French restaurants are hard to find in many cities now, hard to cook to order, and expensive. Same for German, the best comfort food, even though America has a sizable German population. Chinese restaurants used to be everywhere, but they have given way to sushi restaurants. Italian restaurants can't be replaced, a big bowl of Napoli pasta is liked by everybody. There's a good sprinkling of Thai and Indian food, anything from Africa would be a rare novelty. Mexican restaurants seem to be winning the food war, they are everywhere, family establishments and large chains. What you never found were English restaurants. But English food is what mom and grandma used to make, so was much too ordinary to go out and buy.
