Thank you for the detailed demo of this product. Just got it and was trying to figure out how to install the two filter caps (maybe read the instructions) but the video showed me so I saved some time :) Also, I thought I was buying a product made in the USA since I own a Vitamix blender I assumed all vitamix products were made in the US a bit of a disappointment. Thank you again :)
Great video Henry, thank you! The only addition I would make for setup is this: when you are installing the 2 filter caps in the back both filters must be taken out, the filter cap placed on each & then the RIGHT filter must go in first. I just purchased my FC-50 & it took me a few minutes to figure it out, but hopefully this will help others. But I really do appreciate your video!
Thank you for watching, and I always appreciate extra helpful feedback, although the way I installed the filters in the back was exactly as described in the owner's manual. The manual states to install the filters first then place the cap on top of them afterwards. Nothing mentioned about right or left goes first. I read all owner's manuals before I attempt to make a video so my viewers get the proper info. 🙏🏾
Well done sir! I saw a video from a food blogger and she kept her Food Cycler in a closet plugged in. She kept her collection bucket with filtered lid near her sink. When she filled it up, then she would take it to the closet and turn it on. Opened my eyes as I don't have any counter space. So move this large heavy machine from the not so awesome to awesome column. 😂
Thanks! Just got one of these and your video helped me set it up perfectly!! I have the User Manual, but I am always afraid I will misinterpret something, so I like to find videos that clearly walk through everything step by step--and yours did exactly that! Also loved that you showed the end result of various food items after they have been processed as that is really what everyone is curious about. You definitely knew what information your target audience was after.
tx for posting the video 1. how often do you have to change filters ? yeah, i know it varies :-) but your scraps won't vary that much so it would be good to know. if you use it daily that could mount up fast since the filters are not cheap 2. last, doesn't this scrap stuff still need to break down before you can actually consider it compost ? the ads are a bit misleading in this regard :-)
I was looking at a video trying to clean the bucket of my machine as it was getting coated with a brown residue that was difficult to remove. I have now found out the best way to clean the bucket of this mess is to put dry white bread in the composting load and it works very well, just include the bread in a normal load.
I like the fact that it's heavy and not light and plastic. Don't ruin the product by complaining and the manufacturer will make it lighter and cheaper.
Just came across this product on sale and had no idea these kinds of things existed in the home market. Thanks to your video I now have a great understanding! Very well made, clear, and concise! Thanks!
Thank you for puting in the time to do this video. Very informative and well worth the watch. This has convinced us to purchase this product in the near future.
Thank you for the step by step walk through of this device. I’m tech-phobic. In spite of reading the manual I always feel insecure that I’m not doing things properly and risking damage to the appliance. Thank you.
Living in NE Ohio, we are proud of Vitamix making their outstanding food processors in our area, so it is very disappointing that the #FoodCycler is not also made here. #VITAMIX
Yeah, the machine is expensive enough. I am NOT going to pay for filters constantly. I yanked the one out of my fridge years ago because they wanted $50 for it. Pass. I haven't died yet from the ice it makes.
I compost outdoor but I do not want to waste nutritious fruit seeds & pits ( I throw them away to prevent sprouting in soil), I hope to use this machine to process. Not sure if this machine will work well on this.
This is great you can make teas Or blend the dried fiber and encapsulated for extra nutrition and fiber also give it to your dog Mix a tea spoon with the food so good for them!
Kind of makes me wonder how much power it uses though? Anything with a heating element usually uses quite a bit of electricity. Composting is power free at least.
Thank you so much for the informative video. I have just one question. Initially when I open the box, are the tables included in my purchase or will I need to purchase them before I can use the FoodCycler FC-50?
I have a question in regards to paper products..... does this compost my paper plates and paper towels?.... What a great video, Thank you for sharing Henry!!
if I have a food dehydrator and a food processor, I could do the same, right? I know it's more work since the Vitamix Foodcycler is an all-in-one machine.
Hi Linda! I would perhaps not put a food dehydrator in the same category because that type of device is used for creating dried foods or potpourri. I don't see a use for a food dehydrator as a way to dry food scraps such as onion skins or banana peels. It takes 24-48 hours to dehydrate foods as opposed to 3 to 8 hours with the Foodcycler. Same with the food processor I don't think it's an ideal product to break down food scraps. The smells in your home from the food scraps won't be very tolerable. The foodcycler is an enclosed system with filters to absorb smells during processing.
@@BlendingWithHenry thank you for your detail explanation. I didn't know food dehydrator takes such a long time. in that case, this food cycler seems like a good way to recycle the food scraps minus the smell/ methane.
its 100% edible leftovers going into the Vitamix food cycler. as long as you don't put rotten food or carbohydrates in it will the end results be edible and healthy for diabetic people?
Just got mine and am pretty happy with it. I've been told you can buy activated charcoal in bulk cheaply online and reuse the filters. Will find out when the time comes.

Henry I really want this!! Do you think this will have deals on Black Friday or cyber Monday ? Your video has convinced me that I need this. I dispose of all the noted food on the descriptions every single day into the green bin. Plus, recently, I started a tomato and habanero garden and they’re growing fast with my old fashion compost, but I can do better! I’m so excited for the future. And good point about “unwanted visitors” lol. I get tons of flies and snails when I sprinkle fruit fiber around my garden.

Vitamix did not provide those tablets for review. Perhaps because the FoodCycler is not being promoted only as a composter, but rather a way to reduce food waste as well.
That's cool as well but I live in an apartment and the stink would be unacceptable. This quick decomp method reduces waste and methane and I can use it for my window plants.

WHAT Henry... This is Brand NEW!!!! WOW... So Cool
It is supposed to be environmentally friendly, but 3-8 hours of energy? What is the avg watt hours?
Approximately how often do you have to replace those three carbon filters? At $25 and $11 a pop, that could get expensive.

Is it exactly the same as the Breville unit just rebadged ?
They look similar but I haven't tried the Breville.
How much energy do you think it used pre run?
Are you able to share what the differences are from using a dehydrator vs this?
