Admit it Linus, you just looked up some random items so your history of "adult thing" searches wouldn't show.
+Waga Yuuri Things like buckets and towels and some more water buckets.
+Devil Dude Don't forget opaque storage bags!
+Waga Yuuri I always use incognito mode when I open Amazon links.
+Waga Yuuri You can hide any item you've viewed, and even orders. Don't ask me how I know.
+reinux libs ends Panola
4:20 DO NOT BUY IT. My daughter will pretty soon forget how to walk :-). 4/5 stars.

aliexpress as fast as possible
+esframunas963 YES plz
A whole seller which items from China are plagued to the masses for generally cheap prices, and questionable quality. #DONE
+esframunas963 I wouldn't mind this one.
+Siedepunkt You look a lot like Leo Messi. Just saying because the whole Aliexpress thing reminded me lol I GOT A MESSI JERSEY FOR $10 FROM THAT WEBSITE!!!
+esframunas963 pretty much a importer with things are low prices and maybe fake things....
Bluetooth as fast as possible?
Wireless file charing at close range. The train goes Boom!
+Donald Hyacinthe Already made that.
How about, CPU Threading AFAP?
+Donald Hyacinthe yes , hyper threading
How about, Radio Frequencies AFAP?
The term fulfillment center makes me question humanity.
+The Hoax Hotel a research center if you know what i mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
+The Hoax Hotel They fulfil the orders...
Love ur vids!!!!
Fulfilment centre sounds like a very aperture name
Fulfillment Center is questioning humanity too, as in "how many humans do I really need to function".
Can you do a "sponsored content as fast as possible"?
this video quality though. i feel like hes in the room. how did you get in my house?!
+Dominic Lobban I can see him pixelated(Only 360p)
+Anantha Krishna With 3Mbps connections, 360p is the god's resolution, so many pixels!
Jose Rosas LOL :D
+Jose Rosas Bow to 1080p King 😎
Asif Islam Bow to 4K(ing) ;)
really? you did amazon??
+Alex Preciado Why not?
+Michel Desormeaux it's how it works, which does Involve TECH
+Michel Desormeaux Holy crap, you are just about as annoying as that guy's furry icon.
+MrBoo88 you think I give a crap
+Alex Preciado yes, he "did" amazon ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I just got my E-commerce assignment and this covers all the questions. How convinient.
Thanks Linus.
"speaking of" = incoming ad
+TheNewFlesh At least we know the exact time to close the video (since I have already watched all his 4 or 5 ads).
+TheNewFlesh "speaking of" = close tab +NatanTeam got there first
Hexspa Exactly. However, I always watch the 5 s after the "speaking of" just to see what kind of joky linkage he's gonna do.
amazon prime in the uk is 1-day shipping, is it 2-days in the US?
+BattMarn that's probably because the UK isn't as large area wise. The maximum distance items will have to go is definitely much shorter than the US. It's not that hard to get an item from England to Scotland or England to Ireland, getting it halfway across the U.S isn't as easy.
The U.K. Is about the size of the average state which means that there are more fulfilment centres per km
+Jordan 1 Ireland isn't part of the UK, 2 many items in the UK amazon store (there isn't an Irish one) don't ship to Ireland, 3 shipping to Ireland is so expensive that it's usually way more expensive to order from amazon than to buy something similar locally
+BattMarn
Less than $35 its 2-day
More than $35 its 1-day
Both ships weekends, at least for me, prime is super worth it.
+BattMarn If you use the "free" thing it usually goes via their own courier service which is absolutely SHITE. I prefer to pay the little bit extra and get it for next morning, that way it goes via DPD which is a WAY better courier. They actually employ their delivery drivers, Amazon don't, they're freelancers who get paid per delivery so they're motivated to not give a fuck how it arrives so long as it does, even making it up.
Great video Linus, I like learning how things work, I think if you did an in depth of this as well it would be amazing, but I do understand that this is As Fast As Possible.
Amazon reviews need to be filtered. Most of everything now sold on Amazon has a lot of reviews put out by people that never bought nor tried the product. I'm sick of reading reviews from people that received the product in exchange for their "honest" review. I want to read reviews from people that spent their hard earned money on the product. That's the only honest review I'm looking for in the buyers review section.
It doesn't matter how you got it just whether your biased or not
+Glowey Bacon True. When I read these "unbiased" reviews they all say the same thing in a slightly different way. It's quite odd. Too me, the reviews feel fake, generic and scripted. When you read so many surprisingly positive review for a product that was acquired for free vs a true buyers review you can see the difference. Unfortunately, the review sections are being flooded by these generic review that they are drowning out the real buyer's review. So, when I go to buy something I don't hold too much value in the products star rating as I once did in the past.
Whats wore is how all reviews for an item show up not depending on a seller, i bought fake 18650 batteries with a 4 &1/2 star review because the review for sony sales showed up for the fake seller i bought from :(
Interesting, heard about it so much but never really knew how it worked :)
4:04 like if you too laughed so hard when you saw this!
Maximus Perez you are so immature and childish
I only shop at amazon too... All my friends ask me "Oh where did you get that?" "Nice jeans, which shop do you go to?"...
People... don't know what Amazon is? Or is this an ad?
+SectorCodec
I would say the video is rather more than just "Amazon is a website what you use to buy shit"
+SectorCodec This isn't explaining what Amazon *is*, rather how it works.
Jackson Fair enough
+SectorCodec Amazon ad, made by linus, sponsored by freshbooks :))))
+SectorCodec u smart, u loyal, u genius... I appreciate dat!
*Raspberry Pi As Fast As Possible* please
You should do a tour of a fulfillment center!! they're amazing!
maybe amazon is santa
but that's just a theory a game theory
A FILM, THEORY!
It was a very good video! as a business major and consumer it's important we learn the origins and business practices of online stores to make better choices! :D thanks Linus!
The delivery mechanism of Amazon is crazy fast!! It worked superbly almost every time for me.
But that said, I don't think that one should rely on a product review or how much stars a product got in a customer rating. It is many times confusing.
For example, how can the same product in two different color variations got different ratings?? Another example is some people rate a product bad because of tardy delivery. And another set of people give a product excellent rating because of super-fast delivery.
But the most hilarious example is many people completely misunderstand the star ratings. They give one star, but in the description, write "excellent product" ; it seems that they thought one star is better than five star.
These little things might seem insignificant, but they do affect the overall ratings. So, before relying those 4.5 star ratings, take a deep look......
I like this for a way to continue the channel's release schedule while keeping it interesting.
GJ guys
Hey Linus , I've ordered a pair of gaming glass with your affiliate code , I love helping the show and I was already a big amazon customer!
Cheers from Quebec, Canada
If I had to guess, Amazon keeps me coming back because of how it can contain just about everything. In one trip to amazon, I can get all my family's christmas presents while accomodating their various interests without having to juggle multiple websites to accomodate their interests, or disregarding their interests to order only from one website.
what about raspberry pi devices FAST AS POSSIBLE how well do they stack up as a regular NON-GAMING PC meant for surfing web and email??
Heh... and expanding on the "even distribution across the entire warehouse", Amazon has now taken it a step further, and they just pick up the shelves with little robots and bring them right to a person who can grab the items without moving around the warehouse at all.
It's pretty amazing.
You should do "Amazon Prime Now As Fast As Possible" - I'm really curious as to how they can achieve one hour delivery! It's available in my area now - I can order something at 8 PM and have it delivered by 9 PM. Crazy.
I admit it, every time I need to buy something I go to Amazon by default. say what you will about Jeff bezos, he's a billionaire that actually earned his wealth unlike a certain orange embarrassment.
now if only amazon.ca wasn't shit..
+MxZeal part of that is due to the overall low population density.
if there would be amazon.fi i would be happy
I like this type of as fast as possible. It's a new taste of the show or mole likely new topic not just technic dictionary. Good job LMG!
now Amazon has robots that bring the items to us, we just stand there for the most part, I work at Amazon in the states
not in all pick centers, in mine we walk around and take items off of shelves
At the price of some of your co workers now being jobless
Awesome. Great way to expand Techquickie beyond the expected.
These are starting to get too simple. Explain something like compute cards like Xeon Phis, AMD FirePro compute/ server cards and Nvidia Teslas. That's a little harder to understand. Amazon? No.
0:16 Jeff Bay-zos
It is great to have you explaining Amazon how they work!
I like how you make the inside of an FC sound glamorous and well oiled. Lol
You took sponsoring on new level xD
Yes.. Do all subject stuff, i like it a lot. Have a nice day.
Amazon is actually my go-to now, even for tech shopping. They don't always have better prices, but they often have something similar enough for a better price. Newegg has better filtering, and B&H has no tax or shipping (since I'm in Cali) but the vast selection and ease of use trumps those for smaller purchases, at least for me.
Hey guys how many days does it take to get our thing from amazon...???
if you worked for amazon before, you would know just how BIG!!!!!!!! their warehouse is. Also never work as a picker there unless you're a cross country runner.
Linus tries to mind control you using the force on 5:20...
I bought an Asus Laptop at Amazon.com two weeks ago and it will be arriving in another two weeks.
I'm so excited. I can't wait.
I liked this video, and would watch more like it!
"an industrial size pack of marshmallow peeps, or what ever." ok, thats a bit too specific to just be random, who less had to look that up after he said it?
Regarding targeted ads: Yeah, even if I'm checking for someone else, since it doesn't know that, I continue bombarded even years after. Example, I have a friend interested in books on guitars. I bought one as a gift. 4 years later, I still get ads. (ARG!!!!!)
"Small discount with targeted ads:" Dang, I wish they would. I've been following a certain 26,800mAh battery for a year now. The price remains unchanged.
Review system: While I do look at the "stars," I also check not only the number of reviews (I've seen products with 5 stars but only two or three reviews that I'm pretty certain were "planted"), I also read the reviews both good and bad. Finally, I compare the count of all 4-5 star reviews with the count of all 1-2 stars. If the percentage of bad reviews is greater than 25 percent, I look for a comparable product.
Occasionally, I'll check to see what other products a reviewer has purchased. If they rarely buy tech toys and instead buy toilet paper, skin softeners, and books, I tend to treat the bad review of a tech product as inexperience with tech products. My wife is one that frequently complains about tech products. Most of the time, it is because she doesn't understand the product.
You can easily fix the targeted ads just remove the items from your viewing history and it should update. And then search for stuff you want and wander around the site for a bit and it will also update the history and make it spam you for that kind of stuff. I probably buy such a large random spread of things Amazon never really figured out what to target the ads based on purchases.
Use camelcamelcamel to alert you when there is a price drop. For example Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh is on sale right now for $79.99USD but if you check on camelcamelcamel its lowest price was on June 16, 2016 for $57.99USD. I recommend Anker for most things as their build quality is good and I've had bad apples from other mfgs but none from anker and I have the most stuff bought from them as well. The small discount isn't really anything to buy based off of, seasonal/flash sales will always give you a better discount.
I just read the reviews in detail to see what they are saying about it. Some negative reviews are just wrong while others have gamebreaking flaws for me which is why the reviews are useful. Super short reviews are not very helpful not to mention are more likely to be fake anyway. Pictures in reviews can provide much more information as well.
If your buying something that is a niche product sometimes there are very few reviews to go off of so it can be much harder to use the star system for those items especially industrial/scientific stuff.
Thanks. I actually found an easier way -- I read it in another comment in this thread. Using Chrome, right-click on the link and choose to open the link in an "incognito window" Works like a charm.
Linus you can feel better, I have been hypnotized as well. Amazon is my main store...guilty.
aliexpress as fast as possible
or
Wish as fast as possible
who else doesn't remember subbing to this channel
f
is Amazon your new sponsor?
Fake reviews are so easily to spot these days. It's like they were written by the sellers themselves. "OUR PRODUCT, VERY GOOD, PLEASE BUY, A+!"
Nice1son
In India , For Me Snapdeal.com has done the same blackmagic on me
i just dont even care if Flipkart.com or Amzon.in has that same product for better price...because i know Snapdeal.com has cheapest rates
Can you tell us about how to sell on amazon?
Fun fact: if you had brought $1,000 worth of Amazon shares in 1997, you'd be worth $250,000!
The rating system is......... quite crap.............. i seen movies that are horrible with 3 stars.... and then there are critical aclaimed ones.... with 3,5 stars.... wow!
some rate movies and other stuff with 1 star cause "didnt get it in 2 days" or "the seller did screw up something" < yeah, totally realted to the product! (report those)
or its just bought reviews "this item ____ is really great... it helps a lot 50 stars!"......... < you cant get more blend, unless you buy 12 cans of white paint and drink em in a row!
RUclips HAD THE SAME SYSTEM- REMEMBER HOW GREAT THAT WORKED? .... yeah i do!

Hey LInus, I work for Amazon in Indianapolis, Indiana. The largest warehouse we have to date is 2.1Million square ft. in Whitestown,Indiana. Also with our new Prime Now program we can ship to your doorstep in less than 2 hours. Thats right, from order to doorstep in 2 hours. Check out the PrimeNow app in your app store and enjoy. Free 2 hour delivery with amazon prime.
-Sincerly, A Humble Dispatch Supervisor for Indianapolis
could you maybe get an affiliate code for the uk?
i would totally use it for my upcoming video card and/or ram purchases
speaking of, should i get an r9 390, or an r9 380x and some RAM?
im running 8gb 1866 mhz RAM atm.
This is why I'd love to live in the US. Everytime I want to online shopping (Amazon) I have to contact some external courier in my country and had to end up paying twice the price because of the shipping (the warehouse -> their PO BOX -> My country) and some extra stuff they charge.
Once I tried to buy a PS3 game, it was like 30$ on Amazon, end up paying 59$ for it. Plus the extra shipping day, took almost a month.
I love you Linus but i don't give 2 hecks about Amazons history. It's cool if you get paid for this video.
Here in Germany Prime is often next-day shipping without extra cost. HOWEVER, one of the biggest drawing cards for me that wasn't mentioned in this video is Return Processing. Products I buy that are fulfilled by Amazon can be returned for free. Once I start a return, I print their pre-paid shipping label and drop it off at the shipper's station 3 blocks from home. If I'm sure to be at home all day, I can even have the return item picked-up for free.
I loved this video.
Amazon for me in Portugal has some restrictions, as it has less offers than the International one, and not all items have shipping available to my door.
I use the Spanish one the majority of times, and then the German one, which has the best price almost all the time.
I admire the way Amazon grew, specially their server service, which allows many OEMs to use it as OTA servers, for example.
But I also look to China in some of this business. As their major player, Alibaba (owners of AliExpress, for example), have a service with deliveries in 3 hours.
You read it right: three hours to deliver your order.
Xiaomi - a major smartphone player - have partner with Uber to deliver their flagship (Mi Note) through their taxi service.
China is growing very quickly in the online retailing.
I don't shop online very often...but when I do I usually use eBay. I've always used it, because the PayPal thing, as well as the buyer protection...through PayPal. I've only ever had an issue once, and I got my money back for it within a day. So, why pick Amazon over eBay?
Hey Linus and others. Do you think you could do Part 2 of this? Here are the things that i still dont know after watching this.
-Sometimes the item says In Stock but the company its from is for example Tesco, is this in stock of amazon warehouses or in stock of Tesco and they send it to amazon and amazon to me?
-Ive found some companies who sell fakes but look like genuine accounts. There is a fake spare camera battery on amazon.co.uk - it says By Canon, but according to reviews majority of people says its a fake shitty product. How is that possible?
-The Amazon tracking then bombards me with ads on almost every webpage i visit with related products from my last search/purchase. That is very shitty feature if you use amazon for buying gifts and G i dunno, maybe xmas fucking presents and this ads shows on every PC under the same router (full house), is there a way how to reasonably prevent that without paying for proxies or god knows what?
-I am still generally confused by the way amazon works. what is the difference between individual sellers there, are all those stocked by amazon? Why only some products are eligeble for free shipping at orders over 20 pounds?
Thanks
Amazon used to give 10-20 dollar credits for new games and you could have an "endless" cycle of buying new games for 40-50 bucks. It was so good but now they rarely give out that incentive :( That's how I started using amazon more frequently.
If you want to talk about the black magic that keeps people shopping exclusively at Amazon, here's my 2 cents. Their outstanding customer service when it comes to defective items, returns, shipping delays etc. I shop at Amazon because I TRUST them more than any other site or store. I'll buy something on Amazon even if it's 20 dollars cheaper on Newegg or Ebay, because I know if my monitor comes in with a dead pixel they'll send me a brand new one immediately and with no additional shipping fees.
This was a cool video, I didn't know about the "Verified Purchase," feature to try and combat fake reviews. I learned something new. It reminds me of the fake reviews on Steam for video games. You'll see positive reviews but it has "0 Hours played," which lets you know they are paid reviews.
Hello!
I'm looking to buy a new PC, and this pcpartpicker.com/p/ZX3yYJ is what i've created myself. Any thoughts/suggestions? I'm not really on a large budget as you can see. Thanks!
Alright I have been thinking this for a while(since I learned i'll have to have prime to watch new top gear!) and since this video and you guys love amazon so much please do a fast as possible covering what amazon prime is and what all you get out of it, like tv, shipping and special deals. Just something i want to know more about before paying $100. Thanks.
Fun Fact: Amazon Prime Now, the 1-2 hour delivry service, was essentially a middle finger to google who said it wasnt possible
I worked at a Prime now facility and we get items out the door in about 10 minutes.
Whenever I try to go shop on Amazon.com and I find something I want ... Cannot be shipping in Canada.
Have to shop on Amazon.ca ... where prices are higher, where the selection is a lot smaller... where I never find anything I want. So fuck Amazon.
I like the idea of covering specific websites but it would be even better if you went more in depth -- beyond the obvious stuff about the websites. For example, we all probably knew how product ratings work, but we all may not have know about how Amazon organizes their warehouses. Thanks Linus!
The greatest shopping experience ever for me, I've been a Prime member for years and one the best things about shopping there is the great selection and customer reviews.
I'd rather wait 2 days and get a better item at a good price, than get something right away of lesser quality and at a higher price.
About 10 years or more, I started out just buying a CD or two, but now a Prime member I have purchased a wide variety of items and have about 12 shipping addresses to send items to... with my church being one of them, and 4 payment options also stored in my account memory, and my wife and I have Amazon Prime store cards, and speaking of which; I think I'm about to go there for a few more items shortly... customer service is great also I might add.
i love amazon.. even though they started charging state tax for my state this year, I still use it on my big orders.. Like in a few hours I'm buying a ps4 bundle for $299 and can't wait.. Deals baby
Interesting. A few things about amazon that I didn't know.
I like interesting business changes that improve their profit margins and sales volume.
Please do a few more vids on advertising and market manipulation!!!!! :)
I liked this, however amazon.com also includes AWS. Amazon.com did give birth to AWS because of scaling. love for you do some this. personally lambda.
amazon is shit, im never buying from them again....i ordered usb car charger, witch was like 2 dollars or less and usb micro cable, so i can charge phone in my car, even tho shipping world wide was free i had to pay for shipping and post office, witch ended up costing very expensive at the end....it was like 10 € or something stupid.....im from slovenia btw.
I like the idea of this tech quickie. I think it would be cool if you did like a quick history of every big name in tech. Google, HP, IBM, Apple, etc. just a little rundown of how they started and how they became what they are today.
Absolutely liked the video. Would be cool how you show how businesses work. Like a How It's Made kind of thing from Discovery. Neat stuff!
Amazon prime is dirt cheap in India. It costs ₹499 less than $8 per year. Although it has only prime video currently apart from shipping but it gives free next day delivery on eligible items.
Reliability, name familiarity and customer service that is second to none is why Amazon is king. All of this can be replicated by any other company except for the name recognition, that is the most difficult part. Just try and compete with McDonald's or Walmart, it's the same story from a different market segment.
Hm, doesn't Amazon do drop shipping also? I mean when I buy stuff from Amazon i receive packages from all around the world? So does it just advertise some product and let the supplier do the rest of the work?
You forgot to mention their customer service ! It's a big part on why I and probably others use Amazon frequently . Any issues whatsoever whether it's my fault or the third party , Amazon will always help out the customer, or cough up a nice refund or replacement.
This is a good topic for Techquickie. Retail as shaped by modern technology. You could do episodes for anything - medicine, sports, business - anything shaped by modern technology.
Lol I've been living on Amazon and newegg for the past week. Thanks to Linus Tech Tips I'm building my first computer.
I don't buy exclusively from Amazon, but it usually is the first place I check for anything I need. It's the ultimate convenience.
Well "Verified Purchases" are sometimes also faked.
The "fakers" simply buy a lot of the items with different accounts on amazon, but get the money back from the seller, which never sends the item.
I like the idea of covering sites and services if they do something unique. Another idea for one could be you could cover Amazon's Web Services (AWS) They have a lot of cool tech that would be interesting to talk about but I doubt you'd get it all done in the one video! or perhaps a talk about reddit?
Keep buying from Amazon. You're supporting my 9 plus year job. Amazon has come a long way. I only wish I could get amazon prime for free.
Linus I got a challenge for you to prove your skills. Build the absolute best computer you can with $500-$600 US
I actually liked this video. I'd like more content explaining how (tech) companies got their start and how they did things then compared to now.
Really interesting video guys, looking forward to more like this.
yup amazon is really a bunch of wizards with great products and reviews lol... ashamed to admit it but if i need something 9/10 times ill go to amazon first. i should really price check
Could you explain how ethernet powerline pass-throughs work? Like this one.
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833181534&ignorebbr=1
pay 70$ for a Prime subscription, orders are shipped with-in 2 days.. regular free shipping they take there sweet time 2 - 3 weeks.. it just doesnt make any sense,,
You didnt mention what a horrible, stressful place it is to work. They force staff into 60 hours of work a week by saying its "compulsory overtime" and fire people who understand their rights as workers.
WHY WERE THERE MORE THAN ONE SANTA CLAUS???????
+TinchoX It's just...WRONG!!!
+TinchoX It's so typical. They just want to make sure we stay confused! Oh well....
They just don't care.
+TinchoX Thank god I'm no longer four years old!!
Google.com as fast as possible?
Your missing the entire Amazon Robotics part. Basically removing people from 90% of the process. Very cool stuff that saves them a ton of money.
