I have not ventured into grimdark yet. I plan to soon but you bring up a good point. I need to make sure it doesn't have animal cruelty or I'll freak out. Absolutely cant stand it. I get sick
I love Joe Abercrombie's First Law series, Best Served Cold is my reading for this month. I need to read Malice (before the end of the year) and yes, Baru is so good! I need to continue the series.
Thanks for the recs!! I'm really intrigued by the morally grey / the good guys don't always win type of stories. I think I'd be more interested in these dark traditoonally fantasy stories as opposed to the more popular dark romance/romantasy, since they tend to be more focused on romanticizing abusive men 🙃🙃
Hello! I read the first book of the poppy war and the publisher decided to not translate the rest of the series! Thank you for all of your recommandations videos!
I have added a few of these to my want list. I got The Lies of Locke Lamora as a gift and have tried so hard to get into it.. but i just can't. Im not sure if I will ever get back to it.
I really enjoyed the first law series and the faithful and the fallen by John Gwynne. I’m not up to John Gwynne’s newest series but his 2 one, of blood and of bone, I’m really enjoying thus far. I really want to read more Joe Abercrombie too. I also enjoyed the fifth season but I honestly haven’t been tempted to reread it yet either. GoT id recommend just waiting to see if he actually finishes it before deciding to continue. It’s a good series and it differs from the show in certain ways that I appreciated but it just isn’t completed and it’s not worth all that initial reading to have to wait forever for the next one
dark books with no hope...sign me up ! i don't know what it is but I adore books that are full of despair and sadness and hopelessness. Thanks for the recommendations. I need to check out some of these books !
Glokta was my imaginary literary boyfriend for yeeears! 😂 I've read all of Joe Abercrombie. Have you heard oh the fires of vengeance by evan winter? Waiting on the last one, it was pretty gruesome 💀

Completely valid, not all have it, but it is definitely in a lot of them.
The Traitor Baru Cormorant sounds so good, you've mentioned it before and im always so intrigued! I think i have to finally pick it up!
It's hard hitting, but expertly done

So pleased you like Baru! It's so underrated
Great video! I loved all these recommendations! I was hoping Empire of The Vampire would make the list! lol 🎭
Haha it had to, for me it was a great book with those darker aspects

I hope you enjoy them if you pick them up. Dark romance is something I've read a little from but not my preferred

Oh no! That sucks, I wonder why they make those sort of decisions 🤔
@@ReadingNymph I don't know but you're right; it's sucks when they do that!!
This is a subgenre I've not delved into yet, I think I might have to, and I have Malice on my tbr shelves!!
I hope you enjoy your exploration into the genre!
Great recommendations.

Glad you like them!
Hi, great recs. Adding to my wishlist and saw on Amazon Engines of war is releasing on 17-Jun-25. 😊
Omg no way!!!!! Thank you for the update!

It's one I know alot of people who have loved it, but like you, I also struggled 😅
Thank you.
Thank you, as always, for watching 💗💗

I really need to read more John Gwynne! I'm always worried it won't hold up to the level of expectation I now have 😅

I have read the game of thrones series but a while back. i don't think we'll ever get the final book so I've lost interest.
Understandable, it's a shame it hasn't been finished, but it's so much weight behind it now that it can be intimidating
One of these days I need to go back and read the rest of the First Law books... cause I was also wondering "what the point" was 😅
Yeah it very much is a 'oh' moment haha
Glokta was my imaginary literary boyfriend for yeeears! 😂 I've read all of Joe Abercrombie.

I have heard of that series, it's not one I've started. Maybe I will try it once I've finished a couple of these series
This was interesting! I have only read the Game of Thrones books and found it soo depressing 😂
🤣 it really is! A lot of grimdark is super depressing
People keep telling me that if I loved Gideon I'll like Baru. One of these days I'll get around to Baru.
Oooh yes. It's so good!
