I am hoping to get several more videos up soon. Have had a lot of requests to finish the Solar Golf Cart series, and I have some other new stuff I want to add as well. Trying to get better at my time management!

I have a question my solar inverter charger has a AC 120 volt input that is used to charge the batteries while powering your loads and bypass mode you can adjust the incoming amps from 5 amps all the way up to 40 amps let's say I set the incoming amps at 5 or 10 amps can I use one of these solar generators to charge my battery bank ? it's only four 80ah agm batteries..

Can you check something for me on this type of unit... Is the neutral 0 volts and the hot 120 volts? ...Or it is 60 volt each one...the 2nd question is about the ground...I don't see a ground connector...is the ground in ground required equipment floating ???? Thanks.

I am not sure how the neutral is wired internally, but it is the return path for the current, so can potentially see some voltage. It is the reference point so it is 0v by definition (voltage is difference between two points) but it could have voltage when compared to other reference points. There does not appear to be a ground conductor on this unit, which is common for portable units. Even the inverters that have a ground connector it is not hooked to anything unless you attach a grounding rod.

I got one of these to test and review but when I plugged it into the wall the charger gets super hot

Mine will get warm. I put a power meter on it and the plug in charger is pulling almost 200 watts, so I would expect some heat. If it is getting extremely hot I would reach out to the seller / manufacture to make sure it isn't an issue.

Another reviewer said its not a Lithium Ion... its a like a form of deep cycle batt (but not a deep cycle, called something else), so whos right?

Hmm I haven't taken it apart to see how it is constructed, but it seems like it would almost have to be to have that capacity with its size / weight. I don't see battery type actuallyu specified in the amazon product specs now that you mention it.

@maxthereof I checked, and the manufacture states that it is a Lithium Ion battery.

      I found an answer too..
The Cells our generators use are the integrated Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2) - NMC battery pack makes the size of the battery pack much smaller and lighter. This system greatly reduces the risk of potential accidents to occur. Additionally, it is also much smaller than a traditional power station. While there is a downside on cost, the significant upside for NMC is energy density, which is nearly 30% - 50% more than LFP (LiFePO4) depending upon packaging. This means that to achieve the same capacity, the physical size of an LFP battery would need to be at least one third bigger - a concern in portable power sources where size is at a premium. As the demand for evolving performance priorities skyrocket in this decade, NMC(LiNiMnCoO2) batteries are becoming the common types of batteries used for electric vehicles and energy storage systems (EES) nowadays. Because of its low-temperature resistance, high energy density, high cycle efficiency, stable chemistry, and many of the good attributes, NMC batteries have been widely used in some high-end electric vehicles such as Tesla Model 3, BMW i8, Audi e-tron GE, etc… the safety and recyclability of NMC are recognized by the industry.

@@maxthereof Interesting. Sounds like it should be a pretty good battery then.
