Hello Ravi! Yes, of course. A COLLOCATION is when two words naturally fit together like: -make a decision (not "do" a decision) -heavy rain (not "strong" rain) - give advice (not "tell" advice) So collocations feel natural together. A COMPOUND NOUN is when two words are always together to form 1 noun like: -toothbrush (tooth + brush) -ice cream (ice + cream) - post office (post + office) These might seem the same, but the words in collocations can change: - I need your decision by tomorrow. (I don't have to use "make" with "decision". It depends on the context.) BUT, with compound nouns, the two words mean 1 thing. We say "ice cream." It will always be "ice cream." If I change a word like "cold cream" nobody is going to think of the dessert. I hope this helps! :)
-I would wish for a thousand million dollars too. - I would wish for being a little bit skinner. - I would wish for not having the sickness I have right now. That's it. 😊.
Hi Arnel, how's it goin' ?. Just one question Arnel, I just wanna know whether this structure is correct grammatically or not ?. -" I would wish for havING a million dollars. ". Thanks in advancefor the answer.
Hi Fredy! That's a good question. Many times after "for" you can definitely add a gerund. In this case it's not correct. You can either use FOR +noun OR TO + verb. I would wish FOR a million dollars. I would wish TO have a million dollars. But, usually when we are speaking about wishes, using FOR + noun is the most common. Hope this helps! :)

Hello from mexico
How can I buy your start up book
Good morning ma'am..I have a doubt about collocation and compound words. Could you please clarify the difference between them..
Hello Ravi! Yes, of course.
A COLLOCATION is when two words naturally fit together like:
-make a decision (not "do" a decision)
-heavy rain (not "strong" rain)
- give advice (not "tell" advice)
So collocations feel natural together.
A COMPOUND NOUN is when two words are always together to form 1 noun like:
-toothbrush (tooth + brush)
-ice cream (ice + cream)
- post office (post + office)
These might seem the same, but the words in collocations can change:
- I need your decision by tomorrow. (I don't have to use "make" with "decision". It depends on the context.)
BUT, with compound nouns, the two words mean 1 thing.
We say "ice cream." It will always be "ice cream." If I change a word like "cold cream" nobody is going to think of the dessert.
I hope this helps! :)
