As soon as PBR came to the game, the devs made the insane choice to downgrade the "tex size" (basically crispness) of the shadows, which is a stupid thing to do considering the resolution stayed the same, meaning they weren't even saving performance doing it. This is why 0.4 looks better in some cases, not to mention that the skyboxes were way more saturated, causing that nice ambient blue in the shadows. I miss it so much but life is expensive and doesn’t have time for a new pc…
the race tracks in industrial site line up with the grassless spots in port so i think in 0.4 it was one map but they split it because it was too much for the computers at the time and since this was a tech demo they wanted it to run as smooth as possible
I remember when it was one map, port and race track. Back in alpha 0.3 I believe they were combined, the first release.
i first played beamng in like 2016-17 and it was a demo version of 0.4, this is super nostalgic
Why the hell water on 0.4 looks so much better then now? Just look at reflections on this moment - 8:35 and compare to 0.27

You need to understand the pigeon back then was actually at times stronger then any other vehicle in the game.
I remember watching YBR when all the engines had the same silly sound.

12:32 The reason it runs bad with a 4090, and not then, is because devs have to update their games whenever a new graphics encoding system comes out, and it just so happens that the new beamng incorporates that.
