So sit back, pour yourself an espresso, maybe light up a cigar, and let’s dive in🌹🤌

An hour and a half on just this scene... AWESOME!
👌🏼🧐
🌹🤌
This meeting (and outcome) was so dangerous, that (especially) after Sonny's fatal mistake, a Sicilian consigliere would have recommended Sollozo be killed to send a definitive message that "no, means NO"... Hagen of course missed all the significance of the meeting, allowing The Don to be shot months later... and the rest is history.
no... as Solozzo said : "blood is a big expense..." , killing Solozo would have meant declaring the war and it would not have been good for everyone neither
Had the Don had "Genco" his original consigilere, he would have seen that coming a mile away and would have devised a plan to "remove" his rivals without telegraphing or making any obvious suggestions. Hagen was really not fit for the position he was in.
@@nagone11 ultimately this proved that Sonny was not cut out for becoming Don and Tom was not a wartime consigliere. Sollozzo was right when he said Don Vito was slipping.
his videos are like the movie we all watch

It was completely Sonny's fault for thinking out loud.
in fact, he made a pretty good point tho... Why would the Tataglia would be ready to secure a guarantee for Corleone's money , if Sollozo comes to ask for money ?
Facts!
Get rid of Vito, the rest will fall into place, basically was the plan, as Vito's eldest exposed himself to be interested 🙄
Clemenza's face at that moment told it all..
Right. Tom too

What Do You Think Was Sollozzo's BIGGEST Mistake? 💭
Not killing the Don..everything leading up to the hit was well played. The Don was the heart of the family, with him out the way their power was finished.
@@nagone11 And underestimating Michael, remember everyone at that point saw him as a civilian incapable of killing forgetting he was a soldier and a captain which in itself showed he was a skilled fighter and tatactian
@@nagone11And Letting Hagen Go Once Sollozo Found Out Vito Was Still Alive, was another mistake Sollozo made.
@ There was no great value in holding Hagen..

everyone points Sonny for comiting mistakes... But the Don himself mades mistakes in this one...
He looks Sollozo down (drug is a dirty business, yes, but why would you say this to someone's face that you know can be bold ? He even wipped his knee at some point)
And he basiccaly said : i invited you to talk business, by respect for tataglias, but he states that he never had any project to say yes at any moment , which is kinda of lame
The Don..was slippin'..
@@nagone11ten years ago could he have gotten to him?

Great content
I don't think Sonny's reaction made a bit of difference. Solazzo knew either The Godfather would back him or he would try to kill him, the excuse to the other families would be that he had offered a better than fair deal which was refused, so the _"hit"_ was _"just business,"_ just as Moe Green's fate was sealed the moment he refused Michael's offer. If Moe Green had agreed to sell, his interactions with Fredo would never have been brought up, but having refused the business deal Michael did bring up the treatment of Fredo so that the bullet Green got in the eye later was considered justified.
Michael wouldn't have hit if Moe was polite and actually tried to negotiate. He tried playing the boss. That got him killed. Michael needed such a big reason to carry out a hit on him
@@sailorbychoice1 totally disagree, if Sonny kept his mouth closed Sollozo would have thought they were all unified and came up with a different strategy.. A united front is harder to deal with.
Vito wanted to keep family clean so Michael could go into politics.
he should've sent Monk instead of Luca, Monk would've been a better spy cause Luca was absolutely known for his loyalty while Monk was unable to fully be let in due to his Irish Father
Monk was not in the novel or the movie.
The bottom line.....
Barzini all along 😉

“And Fredo?….
What can I say about Fredo?
Ummm……..”🤔
Poor Bastard, He really was the Rodney Dangerfield of The Godfather.
An hour and a half on one scene. Also historical scenarios of how to deal with a powerful foe. What I learned was read the room, and more importantly do your research on your ooponent, and read their body language, and eyes to see their intentions. Say No, without saying No is an important tool to buy time, and take the situation to your advantage. These are excellent tools in order to do exactly that.
It was hard to believe that Luca would turn.
All living things have only one main priority that will give away all of their actions. And that is survival..
You know I never hear anyone comment on this very important piece. Ok let's say Vito was successfully taken out. The whole reason that Sollozzo and the rest of the Don's needed Vito was his political contacts. Had Vito been killed then the political contacts would be null and void. The rest of the Corleone's didn't have those contacts
Could Vito have used Sonny's "apparent interest" to get more info about the drug plans, by sending him to meet with Sollozzo instead of Luca?Vito would probably still need to change his routine and increase security.
Inner circle 😎
What is the first thing the Turk says? It sounds like “bay”.
"Bene" it's basically like saying "So" or "good" in this context. Just a quick transition into the main conversation.

Vito played Luca too early, he should have kept him reversed and waited when he need to unleash him, he practically handed him to Solozzo who knew he was a threat that had to be taken straight away
When he learned Vito was still alive Solozzo still tried to push the drug trade deal onto Tom moments ago was ready to give in, but the moment he learned of his adopted father's survival he was against it showing how Solozzo wasn't able to adapt and still tried to use his plan he put in place despite it going off the rail by that point
29:30 Walk without rhythm, it won't attract the worm.
The Dune saga makes good use of a lot of this kind of stuff.
In the video game Luca had back up, Aldo was his man
The amount of money all of the families had an opportunity to gain was too much to resist. Vito was going to be removed as an obstacle sooner or later. Even Tom said the Corleone family needed to move into the drug business.

@@TheCultureMafia It's written in the top corner if I remember right, at that time stamp. I remember thinking in context you must've meant "brushing it right away" or something similar.
Wow
The Turk may be Sicilian, huh?...
You know, the Sicilians are spawned from.... Well, if you could give me one of those Chesterfields, I'll tell you all about it😏
He was going to kill the don. With a no
The don should have said 40 percent, Sonny should jave been schooled by Vito before this but Fredo could have done better.
Fredos shortcomings would have worked in this particular situation.
