When Buggy did his declaration to go for the One Piece in the manga a year ago, I was reading it while waiting on a traffic light. I never shouted as loud and I never cried as much. Buggy is the second pirate that I want to find the One Piece. His will moves me.
Buggy felt betrayed, he left his dreams to support Shanks, he felt that Shanks would be the next king of the pirates because he felt unworthy seeing that Shanks was becoming a prodigy every time, that Roger himself supported him and suddenly Shanks tells Buggy that he would not go to Lasgh Tale. It was like feeling that I was going to give everything to help you and you reject it. Now Buggy feels motivated because he sees himself in the same condition as Shanks because both are Younks. That's what fascinated me about the buggy, honestly.❤

It felt nice just hearing Mihawk ask Buggy about fighting Blackbeard, Red-Haired, and Straw Hat. It's nice knowing that Mihawk acknowledges the strength of the Straw Hats as a threat like Red-Hair Pirates.

Crocodile has the wealth to reward the bounty system on the marines and finance their military. Mihawk has the power to literally defeat any swordsmen as well as most other opponents. Buggy has the fame to recruit and inspire countless weaker pirates who otherwise wouldnt rebel against the world government and he has the infamy which will put fear into the hearts of the marines. It doesnt matter that hes a fraud and a clown. As we see here it still has a major effect on regular citizens and marines!!! Thats all fame and infamy is needed for!!! Btw Mihawk once said about luffy that he has the MOST DANGEROUS power in the world... the ability to recruit people to his side IE Whitebeard (literally the strongest character at the time) and the whitebeard pirates, the Okama, revolutionaries, etc... And what have we seen Buggy do constantly? That same exact ability, in fact he managed to get hawk-eye as a subordinate as well.... Buggy can totally get the One Piece first or start being called King of the Pirates before Luffy is, especially if Oda has us dealing with shanks or blackbeard, meanwhile buggy is off sneakily obtaining the One Piece and spreading word of his greatness. And on top of that, if Buggy becomes King of the Pirates, both Crocodile and Mihawk get their wishes granted. Then it'll be a matter of protecting that status hence setting us up for that Zoro vs Mihawk fight. (It would also be cool if Buggy awakens his fruit, and can split other objects. Never overanalyse linguistic details like that unless you know the original Japanese meaning perfectly and the context too and even if we knew the former, we don't really know what Shanks' plan involve so we don't have the latter. Honestly, for various reasons, there are actually a lot of fans (myself included) who think that Buggy is just as likely to become the pirate king as Luffy at this point. It’s honestly anyone’s game, and this chapter did a fantastic job at showing that Buggy honestly needs this more than Luffy does. Like, Luffy gets to go on a journey with friends and be free, he wants the title but he doesn’t need it narratively. As he said to Sanji, it’s more about becoming King with his friends at this point anyways, but Buggy gave up on his dreams and has gone down a darker path since then, only now managing to pull himself back up. Luffy will definitely see the One Piece and maybe even have it, but it’s possible that once he gets what he wants, he might just give up the title. It would be in character for the guy. Honestly I’m low key kinda rooting for Buggy to find it with the SH Crew.

I really liked this episode. I loved the way they adapted Buggy’s declaration of going after the One Piece. And Sabo’s new voice actor started this episode. I don’t remember what the old one sounded like but the new person sounds good. Fun fact: The name of the girl in the cow print headscarf is Moda. She’s a milkmaid. Not only did Bello Betty save her during a private attack during the Reverie but in the manga, she’s a player in Ace’s cover story on his search for Blackbeard. So she’s now linked to both Ace and Sabo.

Btw Mihawk once said about luffy that he has the MOST DANGEROUS power in the world... the ability to recruit people to his side IE Whitebeard (literally the strongest character at the time) and the whitebeard pirates, the Okama, revolutionaries, etc... And what have we seen Buggy do constantly? That same exact ability, in fact he managed to get hawk-eye as a subordinate as well.... Buggy can totally get the One Piece first or start being called King of the Pirates before Luffy is, especially if Oda has us dealing with shanks or blackbeard, meanwhile buggy is off sneakily obtaining the One Piece and spreading word of his greatness. And on top of that, if Buggy becomes King of the Pirates, both Crocodile and Mihawk get their wishes granted. Then it'll be a matter of protecting that status hence setting us up for that Zoro vs Mihawk fight. (It would also be cool if Buggy awakens his fruit, and can split other objects. I can totally see Gear 5 luffy being like wtf? split into a bunch of little pieces, or perhaps buggy does some insane crap like split the ocean, or even the grand line, or even atoms thus creating nuclear buggy balls)
Nah she's right, there's no difference between "at this point" and "at this time" here. Especially in the context of a translation where the translators don't even have all the context. Never overanalyse linguistic details like that unless you know the original Japanese meaning perfectly and the context too and even if we knew the former, we don't really know what Shanks' plan involve so we don't have the latter.
Especially since he probably hasn't changed his mind about going after the One Piece, I mean he said he was going after it a few episodes before that, he just changed his mind on going after it *immediately after Roger's execution*, so everything you said about what "at this time" means is probably closer to the actual truth, which showcases the danger of overanalysing, especially when it's not even the original text.
And yes completely agree with you on Buggy having the power to charm people and bring them together. The funny thing is that Mihawk is the one who talked about this first in relation to Luffy and now he's working for Buggy who has a similar ability. And no matter how violent he and Croc are, they are dancing to Buggy's tune right now. Buggy is the first man to make Mihawk sweat xD Fitting I guess considering Buggy's fruit is Mihawk's counter, that Buggy's personality would also manage to pull one over Mihawk.

Honestly, for various reasons, there are actually a lot of fans (myself included) who think that Buggy is just as likely to become the pirate king as Luffy at this point. It’s honestly anyone’s game, and this chapter did a fantastic job at showing that Buggy honestly needs this more than Luffy does. Like, Luffy gets to go on a journey with friends and be free, he wants the title but he doesn’t need it narratively. As he said to Sanji, it’s more about becoming King with his friends at this point anyways, but Buggy gave up on his dreams and has gone down a darker path since then, only now managing to pull himself back up. Luffy will definitely see the One Piece and maybe even have it, but it’s possible that once he gets what he wants, he might just give up the title. It would be in character for the guy. Honestly I’m low key kinda rooting for Buggy to find it with the SH Crew.

I really liked this episode. I loved the way they adapted Buggy’s declaration of going after the One Piece. And Sabo’s new voice actor started this episode. I don’t remember what the old one sounded like but the new person sounds good. Fun fact: The name of the girl in the cow print headscarf is Moda. She’s a milkmaid. Not only did Bello Betty save her during a private attack during the Reverie but in the manga, she’s a player in Ace’s cover story on his search for Blackbeard. So she’s now linked to both Ace and Sabo.
