    My car-camping setup is #1 - all geared around keeping my wife happy outdoors; and #2 - 1000% different than my backpacking kit. Glad to see new car-camping gear & content. Great work Devin

      Yeah, camping as a family is so different than backpacking. If you've got the space in your car, might as well make it comfy. Thanks for watching!

    I love my jackery battery pack for camping trips. I’ve done 3 days camping and never ran out of a charge, even when sharing it with others. I love how large that tent is. Having a tent you can stand in with a car camping trip is key.

    Love the tent! The rain fly looks like it really does its job and even provides a large vestibule for cooking if you were stuck in there in the rain. Organization is key! I used to be way more organized than I am now... need to find my way back@ 🙂 Cool gear is what gives camping the "Fun factor" for adults I think!!

    I've enjoyed reading all the replies B4 composing the following:
    I remember that video showing the tent being shredded by strong winds. That new family size tent looks like its going to provide you & your family with a lot of shelter for years.
    I have a friend whose shelters were blown down on him TWICE (different) brands of shelters. He's given up on tents of any kind for shelter & uses his cargo van for his shelter. He does admit that he bought some really cheap products. One was a Tepee that he quickly realized wasn't meant to be pitched in strong gusty winds. Apparently it was shredded into tiny pieces & all the poles bent or broke. He was attending a "Burning Man" event & told me there were numerous others whose shelter was also destroyed by gusty winds.
    Perhaps I'm lucky in that I've never had any tent type of shelter get blown down, no broken poles, no tent being shredded, but there is always that first time. Yes! I still love tent camping ever since I was a Boy Scout. To me camping isn't camping if a tent isn't my shelter.
    Warm regards from bone dry Reno, Nevada

    I'm glad you compared to the big agnes spicer tent because I was trying to decide between that and the nemo aurora 4p tent. I want to make sure I can set either of them up solo if needed so that's my main concern, and also making sure it can be fully enclosed to protect from wind and rain

      I was debating between the camel one and this one. I really appreciate you have the ability to have windows you can actually see out of this tent, too.
      Even though you can stand up in a 6 person camel tent, the only opening you have is the front door. You have a back window, but the rainfly is over the tent, so you can't see out. :(

    I am looking at a new 6 or 8 person tent and since you have owned both it would be great to hear a comparison of the Aurora vs the Wagontop. Do you have a preference from the two?

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  2 года назад +4

      The Wagontop is straight up luxury and huge. We use the 8P when doing longer trips. We typically do a week long family trip each year and the space of the 8P allows for a big air mattress to be used. The big negative for the Wagontop is that it's not great in the wind. Even with it guyed out, it's a sail, and so where you pitch it, you've got to be mindful of what the wind is doing.
      The Aurora is amazing, and for quick weekend trips it's a super comfortable and convenient tent for my little family. It's a little tight on space with 5 humans and a dog, but we make it work. I think I prefer the Aurora Highrise over the Wagontop for ease of set up and footprint size, but both are super great!

    Somewhere in this comment section, I think I read that the windows do not have the option to zip up, they have tabs you throw over loops inside, to cover the windows and thats it?
    I genuinely really like this tent, but I think the biggest deal breaker is that having no zippers, would allow wind to blow rain into the tent. :(
    If they upgrade this tent to have zipper versions of doors and windows, I'd definitely buy this in a heartbeat. I really would enjoy the space this has as a 1 person tent.
    This is not including finding ways to double down on weatherproofing a tent, that has safe and efficient warerproofing spray, that doesnt clog the mesh, that allows air in, while also being flame resistant.
    I know every tent setup is different and I wouldn't even mind this taking 30 min to set up the tent, as long as this is a feasable option. ✨️✌️

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  4 месяца назад +1

      Having extensively used this tent for many many trips now, the window design has been a non issue. The tension on the fabric is great and I've had zero indication to be concerned about rain blowing into the tent. Hasn't been my experience at all.

      @@BackcountryExposurehave you experienced a storm in it? I need a chemical-safe tent in a hurry and this is the only one available where I live. But the summer wind and storms in the Alentejo can be intense! I really don’t want to have to resort to the chemically bivvy that’s my only other instant option, but concerned about this 3 season in strong wind and fierce rain. Any input SERIOUSLY gratefully received!

    I see u have the big Agnes spicer 6. Almost no reviews on RUclips. What can you say about it, or do you have a review? I do like the nemo but the windows with no zip, it's a turn off for me, windy nights it will probably be a problem.

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  19 дней назад

      @@nunodeazevedo I have the spicer, yeah it’s not talked about much. Honestly it’s a pretty basic tent. Nothing about it is very exciting. Not as much space as the Nemo, especially standing space. Even if the floor size is about the same. Walls are less vertical.
      I’ve had the Nemo in all sorts of weather and it’s been just fine. The windows haven’t been an issue with wind or rain and it’s been in pretty extreme of both.
      I do have a full review of the Nemo on my channel.

    Devin, I am having a hard time finding a car camping tent that I can button up completely. As you know, here in Utah we get tremendous windstorms. (I had 3 big tents ruined a few years ago at Red Bluff Springs in NV). For me, keeping the dust and sand out requires that ALL doors and windows have a zippered covering. Does your Nemo do that or do you know of a tent that does? My Black Pine Turbo 4 does but it takes up too much room in my Jeep.

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  2 года назад

      How big of a tent are you looking for? The spin drift of dust getting into a tent is super annoying. I like the Aurora Highrise because it does a good job of keeping dust and such out from winds, but I wouldn't put in the category of being super strong against winds. It's a large tent. Something with a solid inner is going to be a good option too.
      Feel free to email me and we can chat more about it. Backcountryexposure@gmail.com

      Have you considered Kodiak Flexbow or the Springbar Tents? They're extremely wind resistant despite the high profile of the structure. Springbar is also locally made in Utah. The only bad thing about these tents are that they're quite heavy being that they're canvas tents. But for extreme weather conditions I wouldn't want to be sheltering in anything else but them or Hilleberg tents.

    • @kevinwhittington382
      @kevinwhittington382 2 года назад

      I already have a Black Pine Deluxe 8x8 that is the only tent that survived the big windstorm that ruined my other tents. I love it but it is big and heavy. We don't have enough room in the Jeep. I am just surprised that no one seems to make a nylon or polyester tent where the mesh can be zippered closed like my Northface VE24 or other 4 season tents.
