The only time I have ever left a theater wanting to turn around and go right back in, and that is after 2 hours and 40 minutes. I have been stuck in Wicked since I saw it. It was incredible!💚

I just realized when Ariana sings “These things are sent to try us” she’s standing in front of a window shining light through it indicative of a halo lol. Such an angel!
I'm totally with you! It's my fave musical moment, hands down! And it's hilarious because I had no idea Fiyero was gonna be Jonathan Bailey, and I was kinda salty with him for his role in Bridgerton, but I LOVED his performance and now I'm looping the song nonstop 😂😂
Ariana’s vocal chops were excellent in No One Mourns The Wicked and her acting chops were on point in Popular - overall the movie was fantastic and definitely worth the 15 years we’ve waited for it 😂
Going into the movie, I was extremely skeptical a good movie adaptation was possible, and was fully prepared to hate it. Walking out, I LOVED IT!! Only knew Ariana as a pop singer and had never heard of Cynthia. They both did an amazing job, and at bare minimum, deserve to be nominated for their work in this movie. And if you think the choreography in this song is good, wait til you see 'Dancing Through Life.'

If you love dancing then Dancing Through Life is going to blow you out of the water. I’m still thinking about it a week later. Its possibly the best dance number I’ve ever seen and Jonathon Bailey is phenomenal in it. I’m not normally impressed with Fiyero actors, but he was just outstanding!
I have seen this 4 times already and haven’t watched a movie this much since I was younger. It’s done and I itch to see it again. I can’t wait for part 2
I’ve seen the stage production a couple of times about a decade ago; so I had high hopes for the film and it exceeded my expectations. Easily the best film adaptation of a stage show by far. I’m no expert but I’ve seen shows state side as well as in London and this film production is awesome. Freakin’ brilliant!
I saw this movie the day after the Norwegian premiere two weeks ago and was absolutely blown away! And I currently have this song stuck in my head, it's so catchy and both Ariana and Cynthia complement each other so well, their voices blend perfectly! 🤩🤩
I saw Wicked on Monday Nov 25 and I couldn’t stop crying.I was overwhelmed with the entire movie. We saw it in Ultra Laser sitting in comfy chairs.which helped this 70 something body so I could have the time of my life. This is the best musical in every way and I intend to see it on IMAX next time. Elpheba and Galinda were made to perfirm together. They are a tour de force. Dancing Through Life is on RUclips FYI
3:25 They both mentioned in an interview that it was lucky their voices worked well together as not all voices work great together in harmony because of tone of voice etc
New here. Just happened to stumble across this video. And I love vocal coaches reacting to stuff like this. I've never taken a single voice lesson. But I've always wanted to. So, the closest thing I've ever had was watching RUclips videos like this one. And I always feel like I learn a lot from watching videos like this. Like you I'm a musical theatre nerd. However, years ago I judged "Wicked" before seeing it. And before I even gave it a chance. I was like ten at the time. After some time, because I've always loved singing and I'd watch lyric videos and sing along to my favourite songs, some "Wicked" songs popped up. I clicked on one and gave it a fair chance. And after that I was hooked. Now I was on the "Wicked" train. I listened to "Wicked" for a very long time. Interestingly, I still haven't seen the musical. So, I've always listened to the songs out of context. This is the only musical I've never seen and enjoyed listening to the songs to. I've still yet to see the musical or the movie. But I am so hyped to see it. I hope the entire story is just as good as the songs are!
The actress for Elphaba, Cynthia E., does an amazing job with Defying Gravity, to the point where I would be shocked if she didn’t do any more singing roles after Wicked Part 2 (yes, the split the movie into two parts) releases next November. You may want to check that out.
5:14 Lol I love how you started hopping your head side to side here alongside the beat. Honestly I kinda do the same whenever I get into a song except I…do it with my whole body😂😂😂
Ariana was in musical theater before her acting roles on Nickelodeon, which would be before her appearing on _Glee_ (the musical competition/reality sitcom [Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth were on the show also in character roles, which led to the creation of MIKA + Ariana's Popular Song which sampled the hook melody & memorable "Popular! I know about Popular." line & signature "La-la"--ing from...well... _Popular_ from the 2003 musical & was added to the re-released _Wicked_ soundtrack for the Broadway show's 10th anniversary]). Ariana Grande was on Broadway at age 13 for the "Thirteen" musical.
There has been some controversy over Ariana getting the role of Glinda in wicked since she has a big title over her name. But people are forgetting that she used to be in broadway with all the nickelodeon shows she starred in. As well as watching the Wicked musical and adoring it. The popstar sensation of Ariana Grande masked the true identity of what she used to be in the past.
That's because people think she was given the part due to her fame, which the director has already spoken about. He had her audition 5 times. She literally had to work twice as hard as anyone else just to prove herself.
According to one behind the scenes video, yes all the vocals were recorded live on set. The music was all on in-ear monitors for the performers. Also, the composer wanted to rework either What Is This Feeling or Popular as a hip hop song but Ariana said no. She was intent on protecting the character and didn't want to play Glinda, not Ariana Grande as Glinda. Though I will admit I'd like to hear that remix.
After seeing how very difficult the singing live process for the studio musicians was in Les Mis (Sideways has a fantastic video on it, plus how it backfired in Cats) I hope they were able to learn from that and improve it for this. Certainly at least it seemed like they didn't muck about with the tempo and beat too much, which I imagine would help? I wondered if they did song recording in the studio after as well as before to fill in gaps etc.
Uuuuuuu I Love Wicked the Musical, and Ariana and Cynthia did not disappoint at all! I would totally recomend the opening song "No one Mourns the Wicked" the movie version it's just wonderful like duwkjsqnsuwb

Read the first book of McGuire, a gay Brit. I cried so much at the ending. Of course, Stephen Schwartz and his "book" writers changed the ending, but the sensational Broadway play kept most important elements of this metaphor for being made to feel like an outsider in your own homeland. They waited a couple decades for the right director and leads. What a risk Hollywood took to release a musical with its 2 female leads (box office poisons) with no-so subtle gay themes, no less just after a campaign of total hate, entitlement, white grievance, and scapegoating while billionaires took over total control of a once free democratic nation.
