How is no one rooting for CM Punk? Gall humiliated his ass and his response was to try harder. He has character, he's the ultimate underdog. He might not have the skills but he's got heart, and a backbone. Come on.
Will Heydecker I wanted him to win both times. He always seemed so miserable and that came through his character. I wanted to see him happy.
Getting hurt by convincing yourself you are a fighter when you clearly aren't is not only delusional but outright dangerous. It's clearly not worth it. Having heart is one thing but if you don't have the tools to back it up, it's a lost, painful cause.
It sucks but, he had the balls to go out there and try to do something new and different that he wanted to do. So I got nothing but respect for the man for that.
Most of the mma fighters have legit long history of mma backgrounds while punk only has a few years of training which isnt enough.
@@garysmith7392 why do you punk fans always talk about his balls?
What a humble guy! Seriously haters are the biggest losers. Big respect cm punk
sam charles so great to hear something positive
A highly intelligent guy, and super humble. Always great to hear him in interviews...
he wasnt always humble... it took someone to beat him down in an embarrassing manner to get to this.
Not a fan of CM, I didn't even know who he was... no joke. But : that nonsense hate makes me like him. Win or loose, I'll root for him.
robert bourgoine you don't know who punk is bjtch stop acting like schmuck stfu
How can people don't like this guy, I don't even follow him in WWE but I think he is a genuine dude that has so much passion in mma
Total douchebag in pro wrestling character? Or in real life during his pro wrestling days?
Okay, maybe I should look it up then .. but nevertheless , it seems like he had since became a better person, everyone deserved a second chance
Frengotti89 Punk was really straightforward if he didn't like you he didn't like you. Yes he wasn't the most humble guy around in WWE. Given his massive star power there can't really blame him. And even in real life he had to hold on to that 'Cult of Personality' gimmick. But yes I do agree he's gotten more humble after getting beat up but as far as being genuine and honest he has been that way since I started watching wwe
Frengotti89 the pro wrestling world are a bunch of idiots who don’t like the fact that Punk said what’s on his mind. He always had an oponion and people in the WWE don’t like that
Let's be honest here if he didn't leave WWE and speak out against them the portion that hates him wouldn't hate him they're just the typical WWE fans that hate when someone doesn't kiss the companies ass
I think the crowd is gonna go crazy when he comes out.
wait till he wins via elbow drop from the top of the cage , the crowd will explode
He will win by GTS, get it right.
or by Anaconda Vise :D
And then Stone Cold comes out and gives him a stunner
I think the crowd is gonna go crazy when he gets knocked out
This is a great interview. Ariel and Brooke have a good vibe. Win, lose, or draw I'm rooting for you, CM Punk.
Seems like a decent guy
Louise Weston He's a swell guy.
Right man. Can't help but root for this guy. Seems like a good dude.
Killah Boi Yes indeed brother.🍻🍻🍻
Syaz Madzaini Same here. Let the best man win.
Ariel helwani is like CM PUNKS therapist
I look forward to their annual interviews. It's like a check-in with where Punk is in his life and Ariel is a great interviewer.
Ariel’s interview style is one of a reflective and challenging manner.
That’s why after he asks a question, you’ll usually see the fighters look up, or wait a bit to answer. He’s getting directly to the core.
It’s also uncomfortable at times, which is why you seem some fighters look at him like: “Bruh, what is your problem?”
This is why it seems therapeutic.
**Source - I’m a therapist.
CM Punk looks really old for his age. He's not even that old, he's nearly 40 but he looks at least 45. Why does this always happen with wrestlers? Is it all the PEDs from the past? CM Punk doesn't strike me as the type that does any of that.
he actually doesn't take drugs at all or even drink - maybe its just in his genetics, could be massive stress..all sorts of things could of tremendously aged him.
yeah no chance it could be the travelling all over the world, different city every night being away from the people you care about constantly for a decade. also for a large part of it being the biggest performer on a massive platform having to perform at that level over and over again. then deciding to switch to a sport that lets you travel much less but the risk of serious injury is much much greater, in fact its highly likely you are going to get seriously injured. yeah it couldnt be that, its must be the peds...
Good luck cm punk. Go live your dreams. People should be inspired but there’s so much hate in this world Haters gona hate.
John McLain my dream is to play in the NFL should i be able to play for the patriots having no organized football experience?
Luck is For Losers
Lup Starr If we're talking about you then probably not pal, sorry
Tezza Bhoy lol
Yes he built a name that took years of effort. I'm sure if the complainers did the same they'd have a chance of completing.
Fantastic interview. Love how this was shot.
JasonParadise its so weird seeing a youtuber you know in a random video comment section lol
I thought the same thing. I love the change in focus in the shot
I think the camera guy saw himself in the mirror at first and adjusted to that style
the guy in the mirror with the camera is annoying
Guitar hero cover of the interview?
Don't know anything about CM Punk.
I haven't followed WWE since the Attitude era. He seems like a nice guy and humble. I don't really understand the hate that he's getting. He got critized and made fun of when he announced he was fighting. Got mauled and beat down in an embarrassing way but still wants to get back there. There's something inspirational about what he's doing. And what he's done and about to do deserves my respect. Good luck to him. 🙌
Yep.... much respect cm punk0
"I just want to focus on me." If everyone focused on themselves before trying to help others, the world would be a better place. "There's nothing wrong with being nervous. There's nothing wrong with being scared." Love it. This comes from a fighter, and he's absolutely right. Great interview.
2019 and i am still missing him so much...!!!
"Even through the darkest days, this fire burns... always!"
You'll do great Cm Punk, can't wait for Saturday.
I will be cheering for you from California
Cm punk had my respect the second he said he wanted to fight Mickey Gall, still does till today and always will do whether he wins or loses.
Sheikh Tahmid You respect him for making stupid choices? For not understanding the intensity of a UFC fight? For me, I lost a lot of respect for him when he showed he was dumb enough to think he can beat any ufc fighter with 0 amateur or pro background, that’s just ignorant arrogance
Barry Shitpeas Lost a lot of your respect? WOW! I'm sure he's crying himself to sleep now
RESPECT.
PrinceMeed LIVE! RE!!! SPECT!!!! WHAT DID YOU SAY????
Why
Meed! Cmpunk return aew bro!! Hahaha
I'd love it if he got the same pop he got when he wrestled Cena in Chicago. Rogan would probably lose his mind lmao
He will
James M i love Rogan but I hope the same lol
Don't think rogan is doing it
Conor Condon yeah he is. Rogan always does domestic PPVs, he arranged his contract so he doesnt have to fly international or do fight nights.
Besides this is the same card as RDA vs Covington, of course Rogans gonna be right there to step in the octagon for interviews 😂
Sanjay Dutta how could he not? It's mma vs punks drawing power for this crowd.
Didn't really have an opinion on CM before watching this. Now I can't help but to root for him. Seems like a very level headed hard working guy. Good luck sir.
"You can only be brave when you're scared." -- Ned Stark
#lastseasonisnotlongaway
NoLord you know i think you try a little harder when you scared.
-Rocky Balboa
Pfftt...not long away ? Still got like 6-7 months. lol.
I said that to d.b. Weiss when I was robbing him
NoLord true! That’s what so many people get wrong. You are brave if u are scared but do it anyway.
I like this guy, don’t get the hate on him at all.
ColombianTank people will always hate just because they wished they were in his place
Cuz he's overrated and his fanbase is cancer
Its quite interesting when the "fanbase" like us have more composure then calling a group of people "cancer".
SilverrulezGaming don't cry because he actually sucks!
Bünyamin Okur CM Punk is weak lol! He can't beat anyone in UFC because he's just an entertainer. If I met him I would knock him out easily within a second lmao
Off topic, but the videography of this interview is spectacular, especially that full shot of Punk and then he gets focused out and can Ariel in the mirror asking the questions clearly.
jakeinator722 Lol you’re easily impressed, don’t know if ‘spectacular’ is the word
I totally agree with you on how this was shot.
I think the composition was spot on too.
Ariel Helwani is the best interviewer I have ever seen, he really brings out the human side in people, before this interview I couldn't stand punk but after listening to this I actually kind of respect him.
John Watts my experience too
It helps Punk and Ariel talk on a personal level. They've been in touch with each other even when Punk was in WWE.
My favorite interviewer in general is Chris Van Vliet (might be spelled wrong). But I've always enjoyed these interviews with punk, he's given punk his best interviews for years in my opinion
You can really tell he's had a tremendous weight lifted off him.
I feel like he is "ALL IN" for this fight hopefully he is "ALL IN" for the rest of the year
JoeDurp I hope he wins this fight so he can carry that momentum to a wrestling match.
Juan*Flykicks1016
4 Life except for Aj Styles
I wish people would stop feeding that hope. It's not gonna happen. Listen to how he talks about wrestling these days. He doesn't want anything to do with it, but the more you convince yourself it's gonna happen, the more you build yourself up for disappointment.
KaiserSoze679 He's doing a signing at all in the night before at pro wrestling tees shop in Chicago.... Do some research before speaking. He's not as distant as before.
ownedweezybaby Dude, the stuff I'm citing saying he's not interested in wrestling is from this same round of interviews THIS WEEK where he says he can't bring himself to even watch it anymore. Maybe you're the one who needs to do their research. Accepting some money to do an autograph signing and coming back to the industry are 110% different things.
What an absolutely extraordinarily well done interview! You asked insightful, intelligent, and thought-provoking questions, and you did something that modern interviewers can't seem to do: YOU LET YOUR SUBJECT SPEAK. Punk is so intelligent, so sharp- he never ceases to impress me with how articulate he is and how you can see his passion (or now, sadly, thanks to WWE, his complete LACK of passion). Thank you for this!!
The answer for WWE fans: 22:17
he may come back when he feels like. we will hear it someday.
I don't think WWE will ever be a thing. I think he will work for ROH.
I was one of those people saying he’s never gonna wrestle full time (or even part time) ever again but seeing him say that I wanna make a prediction.
He loses his next ufc match and after awhile he’s gonna do a match with a guy he was never able to wrestle before, fall back in love with wrestling and work the indie circuit again. Not WWE and no contracts. He’s gonna have fun on the road workin his schedule making decent money.
Idk wild guess
he doesnt like HHH and HHH doesnt like him!
he will never come back to wwe and he probally never wants to see HHH!!
Well, Bret Hart hated Shawn and of course HHH, and what happened? Yes he returned
He'll wrestle again. Probably not for WWE. but I got a feeling he will wrestle again in Japan or somewhere else.
Herman Falck How there are independents in the US now worth going to. If he's going to do it I bet he goes where Jericho and angle is. Forgot the name of it
Matt Petty TNA? Its changed its name so many times over the last couple years I stopped keeping track
I think so too...
Matt Petty Jericho was never in Impact
He should definitely go to AEW, WWE’s new rivaling company!!👊🏼😎
Chick Magnet Punk the GOAT of MMA
vs.
Michael Jackson the GOAT of pop music
Someone’s 0 has to go!
Best comment I've ever seen
Scenes when it's a simultaneous knockout.
It'll be super funny if it's a draw lol
LMAO!
Is that really what cm stands for lmao
And Now, He is back in his original home after 9 years
CM 🐐 vs. Artem 🐐
Perry a billion dollar fight
Punk vs. Covington
Artem would actually knock him out.
You want CM to die bruh? Artum would literally kill him inside 23 seconds.
unlockthepower agreed. No respect for Artem, he’s fought well
did my dog say it?😂😂😂God bless you punk i hope you win you work hard and deserve it
Lol..I read that at exactly the moment he said it on the video..
i don't know why i am watching this interview now...but this was almost a year ago. i am still waiting for someone to make this man a god damn good offer so we can enjoy him once again in the wrestling industry.
I have always liked CM Punk followed his whole career since his first match in WWE. Love this guy so much he is so humble and real
Looks like Ariel's starting to morph into a hamster.
jimmo85 interesting observation sir
Lol I think that’s the close up
Take it easy with the mushrooms
LMFAO
Fosure lol... but could be more like a weasel!
Good fighter or not, I like this guy, so much so that I'm rooting for him because I feel like he deserves it. I wouldn't normally choose to root for someone in this situation.
Make Punk Great Again
Whenever CM Punk talk to Ariel , he speaks his heart out. Respect for both of them and great interview. Being a CM Punk fan for many years I hope he pulls off this time. Whatever the result is going to be it's not going to change Punk's loyal fan base. CM Punk for life.
Wanted to start professionally fighting in one's mid 30's is kind of strange. I wish this guy the best in the future -- I feel like he is a decent person, and he might figure it all out.
It's not strange. He get paid millions.. I would fight Mike Jackson for 200,000, and so would most others. Not strange at all. He can't make money many other ways..
aha randy couture did and hes a former 5 time 2 weight champ. first to ever do it and currently holds the record for most title wins at hw. so ya know. never say never
Randy Coture has a much different background from Punk. And I think Punk made $.5M for his last fight? Not a bad payday, but a different kind of difficult lifestyle from wrestling. Punk would deny he's doing this for the money (of course it plays some part). But to think of going into MMA for the money.... that is not what draws most people, is it?
Honestly, I'm not sure what draws people to it. MMA Fighters are even less famous than wrestlers, it seems to me. And I don't know exactly how they get paid, but most MMA fighters don't exactly seem to be getting rich. There might be some allure to being thought of as one of the toughest guys on the planet, but Punk is never going to be that either. This is why I say it is a peculiar decision.
Mad respect to Punk for his sparring session in the octagon.
Punk looks like the type of guy to break out an acoustic guitar at a party.
ThingsAreLookingUp shut it
Anyway here's wonderwall
Excellent! My first of many belly laughs on my day off. You never forget your first though. I tip my hat to you sir!........just the tip!
Come on, he's not THAT douchey.
Cm punk looks like when he was in his wwe run from 2011-2012 but I miss the old cm punk who on,y had sideburns from 2013-2014
great interview, really enjoyed it, it doesn't surprise so many people hate on punk but what he is doing is truly inspirational, I wish I had the balls this guy has to chase his dreams
I really love how this interview was shot and laid out. I really like how it was mostly focused on Punk with Ariel in the mirror. So very crafty.
He is all in 💯
I honestly hope he wins on Saturday. He seems like a good dude.
Thank you, Ariel and Punk, for keeping the tradition going.
I still want Punk vs Mayweather
I'm pretty sure the UFC wants that too. But the only way for them to promote that fight is if Punk wins.
would never happen, EVER. Punk is a solid 170 over 40 years old, he'd never make 155 and Floyds boxing weight is inbetween 145-155. I could never see Floyd going to 170
Luke Outcold you're telling me you don't wanna see a fat ass Floyd?
+Bryan A Me too, if the UFC is going to give us a freak show then they should at least give us the ultimate freak show. I was rooting for Punk to beat Mike Jackson anyway, but now I hope he wins just so we can get the Mayweather fight.
Punk vs mayweather would be at catch weight.
This probably has to be one of the best MMA Interviews ever. Kudos to both of them. The whole composure, the feel and the pace this interview was done is just perfect. And at the perfect time rightly so. I wish him the best, win or lose I don't care about CM Punk the MMA fighter but I care a lot about CM Punk the Human Being. Wishing you the best.
Man I hope things work out for him. I have so much respect for punk he’s such a genuine guy.
Genuinely believe he will beat Mike Jackson Via submission, not even kidding
The Iron Shenanigans the dudes been training with Ben Askren, I mean it cant hurt right 😂
I miss Punk, great to see him in a interview again. Keep up with the positivity bro!
CM Punk is NOT the goat, he’s the bitw; BEST IN THE WORLD
His way of explaining things is pretty interesting.
The way he processes certain situations that need to be addressed and completed like
Dealing with WWE and going on to do UFC and having time out - Wife Family etc...
He knows what He wants and will get...
I gained alot of respect for CM Punk after this interview.
I miss seeing CM Punk in a pro wrestling ring, but wherever he is now I hope he is happy. His life his choice. Great interview.
Come on, There’s no denying he’s not even a ‘good fighter’ or doesn’t really deserve being on the main card, but you can’t deny he’s a great guy and after everything that happened last time to come back ? I really hope he wins!
You have so much guts to put your status on line
Awesome. He's coming out in his hometown with a Cult of Personality theme song. Gonna be awesome. As far as wrestling goes, I really miss him. Any time he had a mic it just drew me in no matter what he said. I love this guy.
Excellent camera work in this one!!! I love how this was filmed. it didnt go un-noticed. kudos to all the amazing people behind the scenes at MMAFighting!!
So happy for this dude. Win or lose, I'm still a mark for Punk.
CM Punk remind me of woods from Black ops
Cm Punk is definitely coming back to wrestling, and its AEW.
Hope so to see him in ALL OUT. Attacking Chris or mox. If he does the wrestling world is gonna get a revolution
I think your stupid in the head 🖕🖕
@@theblacksheep5209 Time will tell
Congratulations to you CM Punk, however I like how this interview was shot. CM Punk is in the foreground and the interviewer is in the background speaking in the mirror. Awesome effect on how they went back and forth. Again congratulations and very dope interview
People think he'll never come back to the WWE, just remember
Vince McMahon and the WWE had some bad relationships with Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior but managed to close those doors and patch things up with them and or their family .
They also have managed to bring back guys when there was a strained relationship. Hulk Hogan was involved in the steroid lawsuit against Vince McMahon in the early 90's then he (Hogan) left to work for his rival (Ted Turner/WCW). So did Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.
He patched things up with Brett Hart after years and controversy regarding the Montreal Screwjob.
Point is if it's GOOD FOR BUSINESS, Stephanie McMahon and Paul "Triple H" Lesveque will bring him back if he (Phil Brooks) wants too. I think he will make another run at wrestling whether it's in the WWE or another wrestling circuit.
As many WWE returns CM Punk will be the biggest ever, my heart will fill with so much joy I might even cry. UFC is cool but CM Punk belongs in wrestling... if only WWE company respected him.
Who still watching this in 2019
Lets Win Cm Punk, I've been your fan since 2010, i just want to see CM Punk win a fight in UFC❤
Damn. Ariel looking thick! Eating lobster & steak every night making that ESPN $$$. & Unfortunately Punk Looking extremely tired. Hope it works out for him! 👊🏻🥋.
Mugga Marco Punk has looked tired for 15 years now. It isn’t too much out of the ordinary
Massive respect to Phil for getting back in the saddle and doing it again. To leave a world where he was king to restart takes massive balls and deserves respect. Robin Black had the best response to it as a guy who did something simular.
Amazing interview
I had no idea who he was prior to his first UFC fight. What I can say and it's completely obvious, is he didn't just loose, he was decimated. He was completely humiliated in front of the the entire world and in the aftermath there was no rock on any corner of the world he could have hid under. Everyone told him he didn't have a chance, and for a lot of people, he may have seemed arrogant whilst also dismissively naive to the skillset required to step into the ring, and not only be competitive, but also somewhat safe, whilst also being conscious of putting a show on for the crowds. People didn't just say "I told you SO", they laughed in his face and ridiculed the man for a very very long time after. He would have taken more criticism than any non famous person could ever imagine. Initially he would have experienced such a level of humiliation and despair/depression, that he would have been embarrassed to see anyone, even hiss closest of true friends. I cant think of any one ever that has ever been roasted or lambasted by not only the industry he was trying to fit into, but also (and more-so even), by everyone all over the world with the never ending jokes and the memes. Bloody funny at times until you stop and think of what it could be doing to another human being, even if that person wore spandex and tussled about with men in a previous profession.
One thing i am sure of is that very few people in this world could handle the last couple of years that CM has had. I was sure that at some point, we would hear on the news, a piece about another self imposed loss of life. If your impartial and really think about it, you'd come to the conclusion that there are very few people who could get through what CM had to endure. It must of been hell on earth for him. Most people lack the strength to, not only pull themselves up after such a humiliation, but to find motivation and the drive to keep going, and the strength of mind to put themselves at risk and on display again, especially in an environment where (even more than the first time) people are going to criticise and belittle you . Without Doubt, this decision under the circumstances would have been the scariest , and i would guess, also the toughest of his life. After the first fight, if you were a friend to him, you would have to advise him for his own sake not to get back in the ring. With not only, everyone around him telling him he just didn't have what it takes, but also the bruises and psychological scaring from the actual horrifying event (which proved people right), he chooses the path that will see further ridicule, criticism, and humiliation.
for me i like what i have see of him, so - it's inspiring, if you hate him - it's complete stupidity again. Win, loose, or humiliation again, he has my respect for the accomplishment of even being here again. I wish him the best for the fight, but no mater the result, he should be proud of his achievements to get back up there. After the first fight it seemed everyone was saying it was impossible that he would never fight again. The highest physical attributes of any sport can be learnt quickly, if you have the desire and a brain. It takes the best of the best instructing or teaching you in every minute detail. He may or may not now have a much higher skillset than he had the first fight which may help him to a limited degree, but.... .... ... Ask any superstar athlete and they will say, real success is more about the absolute resolve or desire to win,. It is also about developing a winning strategy by committing to memory your technique combined with the knowledge of every single minute detail of your adversity. However, the absolutely most vital aspect to success that professional athletes will tell you, is to possess a strong, confident and completely focused mindset, because that will be what you draw from when it gets tough or you get tired, or panicked whilst being choked out in the first round. Without it you can be good, but never truly great.
CM'ss got a great team around him, and considering his path to get here again, he's equiped himself with an unbelievable desire to prove himself. Maybe this time, at the end of the fight, (even though many still say its an impossibility), overcoming all odds and standing victorious may change peoples minds about what is or is not possible, For me, I hope he wins, I know of the skill of his team but i have no idea as to his personal improvement from last fight. But I'm going to put $200 on him to win. I think, not only does he want it more, but he needs it more. If he wins, I'll distribute the winnings of my bet to the black dog institute here in Australia. Or he could still lose in humiliating fashion, but Hopefully people may respect him as they would any other fighter who is defeated in the octagon, and only take the "Mickey" from him to the same degree that they would when McGregor or Diaz were defeated.
At least he had balls to get in cage .so many wrestlers wouldn’t do it
Excellent camera work with the mirror. Thumbs up camera guy!!
Mr Punk dont Need WWE!
there is going to be a wonderful speech after CM Punk wins UFC 225. just see. it's in his eyes.
I'll never believe he's out of WWE for good.
Cm punk, now one of my favorite fighters
You ladies sure are commenting on Ariel figure. Didn't know he was such a dude magnet.
2021 and he return to wrestling in AEW!! Thanks Punk
OMG thanks so much Ariel helwani finaly a cm punk interview
Punk is great because he lives strong and won’t let anyone twist his thoughts. Good way to live.
If he comes back to WWE i will jump out of my balcony and yell 'cm punk is back boyyyyyyyyyyyyy' im not even kidding...
AND FINALLY CM PUNK IS RETURNNING TO WWe
Maybe this is just the wrestling fan in me, but I gotta imagine deep down Punk still loves wrestling, but wrestling the way he knows it and remembers it. NJPW should come at him with a serious offer to fight Kenny Omega, the way they got Jericho. Punk can do what he wants when he wants with pro wrestling after his fight on Saturday. If he had a vindictive bone in his body, he could really stick it to WWE. If he legitimately showed up at NJPW and ROH for the occasional match/feud, I bet record numbers of people would tune in...
mont3818 All in ?
Love the interview! Amazing job again Ariel
I'm really pulling for cm punk this weekend although I hate the fact that he's mad married to my woman AJ Lee!!
20:30 The start of him talking about if he is coming back to wrestling (if that is all you are here for). The interview as a whole is great tho
Seems like a genuinely good guy , it's gonna be hard to watch him get destroyed again ....his stands a punchers chance that's it
It would great if he wins the match, then gets on the mic, and just says "I'm all in!"
Losing is not an option, loses again
Come BACK to Wrestling! CM PUNK!!!
The Ariel in the mirror was cute.
Lol so random and funny :D
Cm Punk Please Don't Lose In Our Home Town Chicago 😭
Has Ariel already been getting those ESPN checks? Looks like he’s eating good.
"You can only eat toast when it's been in the toaster" - Ned Stark
CM PUNK Gonna Win The Fight 😊😁
If you lose Punk, come back to WWE,You know it's still in your blood, you still love wrestling,no matter how much you say you don't,we the fans miss you so much Punk
90% of people respect he tried
this interview felt like after all out press
He shouldn't be fighting in the UFC but you still got to respect the guy.
CM Punk and Ariel Helwani are always a good vibe together
