I've known of Punk since 2006 & I gotta say it's pretty cool to have seen his debut in ECW in 06, when the commentators were saying ''this is a different kind of athlete from what we've never seen before'' to now nearly 10 years later & he's about to fight for the first time in the UFC. Good luck Punk, all the best.
Schizophrenic0 based on what body of work exactly? his 0-0 mma record? his 0-0 bjj record? his 2-1 little kiddie taekwondo tournament record? the fact hes 48 years old and arthritic? joe is great at kicking bags that dont move and dont hit back and gets winded doing light sparring. the guy is not a fighter.
Kristov Asunciou hes has been training for a long time and hes on trt and some other shit his kicking techniques are insane and he is explosive as fuck his best friend is legendary jujitsu artist +he himself has black belt in bjj
I never watched CM in WWE, never heard about him until this UFC announcement. Seems like a real dude. Funny, too. He also gets points for liking hockey - the best competitive team game on the planet.
Futballplayer I wish there were more people like you on the internet. And hockey is the best competitive team on the planet. Joe, take your LeBron toe-stubbing, gotta get carried away in a wheelchair for getting a scratch on my arm excuse of a basketball player and leave.
Fantastic interview... Really hoping for the best for Punk! He's exactly right in saying he's going to cop heat for Winning or for Losing. I hope he gets what he wants out of all of this!
CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK! I'm a wrestling guy, I barely watch MMA. I was always a supporter of Punk in WWE and that isn't gonna change in UFC. I hope he does well there. I can't wait for his debut.
Punk nailed it when he said: If he loses in his debut fight, everyone will say "I told you so". If he wins in his debut fight, everyone will say "His opponent sucked". Either way this man will step up on fight day and I know he will give his all despite knowing that people won't be satisfied regardless.
I though it was kinda bullshit that he got to take a spot on the UFC roster at first, but after seeing how humble this guy is being about this whole thing, I can't help but respect the guy. He is just training, and letting what will happen, happen.
I'm always going to be fan of Cm-Punk. That man isn't scared to speak his mind and I respect him for that, what he did in the wrestling world, how he is never changes and him going after what he REALLY want to do.
He was both humble and self-confident(arrogant if your not a fan) during the interview. Not easy to pull off. CM Punk is pretty damn awesome. Great interview to get new fans.
He looks phenomenally better than he did in his last interview. It's great to see him oozing positivity and to have drive again. Good luck for your debut. Many of us want to see you do well!
Positive mental approach 29:40 Punk: You know what I visualize? Ariel: What? Punk: I fight somewhere on pay-per-view Ariel: Main event you think? Punk: Nah I doubt it I love how positive yet so realistic he is lol
Solomon Grundy I imagine he's talking about NOW. It's plain to see he's a lot happier and more easy-going now than he was toward the end of his WWE run. He's probably a lot more chill now that he's the low guy on the totem poll than he was when he was being overlooked for a bunch of guys not fit to tie his laces. Personally, when I look at THIS guy (the one in the video) he does seem like he'd be pretty easy to work with.
+yootoobnewbie He is tbh . yes he's a jerk but that has nothing to do . he's not like Shawn Michaels back in 96-97 or Kevin Nash . He did whatever he's been told to do without questioning until it became too much !
Its great to see Punk relaxed and healthy! Great Interview!!! I miss him in Pro Wrestling but he should stay with MMA because he looks so much happier haha! BEST IN THE WORLD!!!
I know right That's awesome I wish all these great interviews Were on the UFC PPV DVDs or Blu-rays It would make it that much Better to have those features On them films
i love hearing him talk hes really the best even if he didn’t succeed in the mma im still proud of him now look at him back in aew even much happier than he was here which is great i hope the best for him all the way
Larry for President 2016 Been a fan of Punk since he debuted back in '06 He's inspired me to speak my mind and always be positive. Best of luck to you Punk.
I love this guy so much just from watching this. Just the most humble REAL down to earth guy. And such a character! Perfect dude to get behind as a fan. I don't even care if he remains an underdog for a while more. What's this about him being a douche? Hard to see after this, but that is a legit question because i don't know.
Hes a dick when you call him by his real name but i dont if he still gets mad about that since hes in ufc now Also he during the end of his wwe run he was a real asshole to work with, mostly because he was frustrasted with his placement, direction of company, hurt etc He also not the one to sit back and take ur shit, you call him a bitch to his face, hed probably punch But now that hes more happier hes cooled off a bit.
I remember CM punk on Total Nonstop Action, ages ago. He was always popular with fans. Even when I stopped watching wrestling I would see that CM Punk is now in wwe and he is on main event titles. Seeing him in this interview he seems really cool
Kenneth Price its not that lesnar is gifted and punk isnt , its that lesnar had an actual background , lesnar was a wrestling champion in college before joining the WWE , CM punk has literally no background , he hasnt wrestled outside of entertainment he hasnt trained MMA or anything
I don't watch WWE, so didn't really know who Punk was until he signed for the UFC, but he seems a really chill, humble, likeable guy who understands the reality of his situation. Kind of the opposite of Johnny Hendricks.
So he signed with the Top MMA organization yet still hasn't fought yet?? Does he have any Collegiate Wrestling Experience? How many Boxing matches does he have under his belt?? Any Muay Thai fights or Kickboxing??? I know he was WWE but any actual fight experience? And why is it taking so long for this guy to actually compete in a real match??
Ichinegro Negrosaki now that agree with but at the same time he was offered something and took it.....i dont think his problem was with rock taking those part time jobs or brock it was with the fact they got the offer but not with them taking it.
Ichinegro Negrosaki That's my point!! :) I think this just Makes the UFC look bad... If he came in and fought within 3 or 4 months or even 6 Months and won, great... but... It's been 8 months... and he is still not on a card and won't fight this year... So When??? I thought he was going to come right in from the WWE, within some time and fight, not over a year!
mikey caputo Yeah! I see... hahahahaha... A LOT!!! He signed on to a top organization and then said, "Umm... yeah... I don't know how to do this... can I have a few years to figure it out first?" Hahahaha...
Agreed. Brock had an actual life time of real competitive Wrestling and Top NCAA Competition after High school competition... and he had 3 Professional MMA Fights in other top mma organizations...
Adam Hauger He spent nearly his entire life fighting at night with the WWE. He basically cheated Circadian Rhythm. IMO Punk looks a lot better than when he was with WWE.
Adam Hauger You try working with one of the top MMA gyms in the country 3 times a day, after spending most of your life engaging in one of the most athletically demanding activities known to man 300 nights a year. See if you don't look tired. lol
Loved CM Punk since he was in RoH. I'm glad more people are finally starting to get behind him. He always keeps it real and is one of the most entertaining guys to listen to even if it's just a conversation in his living room. Ariel Helwani did a great job here and that's no surprise. Punk's journey leaving the WWE and going on to bigger and better things in UFC is in a weird kinda sorta way mirroring what I'm going through with my life in the past year although yes we are in two different worlds. I wish you nothing but the best Punk!

Oh this is fucking great! Thanks Ariel! Btw sound is pretty bad, it is decent but something is a bit wrong maybe it is Punk's house creating some echo. Might want to take a look at that. And cant wait for CM Punk's videos about his training.
I like what Helwani said at the end. "I don't want to wish you luck the rest of way," Cause Punk said himself "Luck is for losers" and who needs luck when you're the "Best in the word"? Looking forward to Punk's debut. Glad he's happy with life. That's all I ever wanted from him really; to be happy. (insert dumb comments here)

Lucky79 He reminds me of a Gracie. The guy who does the Gracie breakdowns.
harrythedevil He's been in one of those videos.
I think Jake Gyllenhall would be great. They kinda look similar too
CM Punk vs Joe Rogan. That would be bigger than UFC 100 and 189 for sure.
***** joe would kill cm
***** Joe Rogan says he'd break the drug-testing protocol. CM Punk could and should fight Jason Ellis.
Lol that'd be perfect!

I have a feeling, that this is gonna be a real life Rocky saga!!! Cm punk ftw
Love the research that goes into his interviews. Amazing journalist.
Cool interview. Really honest and a great insight
There was a part during this interview where he says if he wins people are gonna say he had a shitty opponent, and if he loses he sucks. I agree with him on that.
