Coal ship comparison would be great, since I think that is more accessible for more players than RB. As for cut-off, probably T7 or T8. Those are the tiers were you will begin playing against high tiered ships, you see those tiers in a lot of competitive seasons, and its low enough to be considerate to those who play one-off game modes or operations.
100% go over RB next. The impact of making a badly-informed choice in RB is significant for almost any player who does so, while coal can be easily recovered. The RB also tends to attract more quirky boats, making them even less relatable. Thank you for your work and providing quality content for WoWs
I picked up Z-42 after your previous video on it as I did not really see its value initially. As someone that perfectly fits the "prefers a more traditional DD role with good detection" niche you described, it's been an absolute blast. It absolutely annihilates enemy DDs that try to contest the cap and that's exactly what I was looking for.
i would love a series on coal ships, even if its just limited to tier 9s and 10s, cause after having gotten my first it becomes a lot more difficult to decide on what to pick up
Personally, as a new player, I'd like to see a tech line face off series. One of the toughest decisions in the first part of the game is where to concentrate your efforts for maximum effect. With a side note on which are best for low cost players. As always, your insights are much appreciated M8!
And the end of the day I think the key is getting the ship you're most comfortable playing. If you don't feel comfortable on a ship, no matter how strong it can be, you're not gonna perform
I think you should do coal ships next. Starting with low tier ones as for newer or casual players those will be their first premiums they should buy. Next the mid tiers, as many of them appear constantly in ranked or brawls when they are in those tiers. Then tier 8s, as is the first time when one is consistently dealing with the high tier way to play (and ranked almost always has tier 8 in the roster). Finally tier 9 and 10, as tier 9 MM is today the worst experience (at least in randoms) and tier 10 has ships that are very good even with the avalability of coal being the easiest "premium" currency to obtain, like the F. Sherman.
3:50 you have 18mm fuse arming treshold, so you will get fullpens on Shima aswell ( 19mm ) but you will not get fullpen on any DD if you will be hitting the tip of the nose, where the hull is just too thin, and 10ms of fuse arming treshold is still a 10ms, which is enough for the shell to past through the thin hull and causing only owerpen dmg. but in general, you rarely hit the very nose of the hull on any DD, so in general, we can talk about fullpens against all of them. Superstructure is diferent story...
@@billhanna2148 ok, so PQ fkng disabled links. ( cause I already replayed to you with link ) there are multiple 3rd party web pages with ship stats, where you can check the parameters you dont see in the game. ( shiptool . st
I have really enjoyed these series. I started in open beta but quit back when you could still stealth fire.. I have gotten back into the game but so many of the ships, while new to me still years old. I appreciate the way you break down the ships and explain how to to exploit their strengths. If you do a coal and even premium breakdown maybe T7 and up? And if a ship has nothing you would recommend just say so and skip it.
I really would love to see a Video covering the FDR. As it is the only steel CV atm. I would love to hear an qualified answer review about it and how it fits the 2024 Meta. Maybe you can get some external help and create a video?
Thank god I got both DDs already. In terms of next ressource ships, I'd prefer RB. Steel is the hardest ress to come by, RB points are next. You get coal very easy and taking a "wrong" ship doesn't hurt too much. RB points are very grindy... Another idea would be: what could be the 1st premium ship at all. Not for ressources but gold/money.
Hey PQ, as a slightly wacky third option you could take a look at "Rare Ships" eg Musashi, Georgia etc. Not sure exactly what would fall into this category in some cases but it could be informative since WG sometimes makes these ships available-ish and your perspective might be helpful for helping people decide whether to throw money at loot boxes/whatever scammy mechanic is implemented or not.
I think you missed the strongest point of Ragnar; the precision of its guns. Ragnar, Elbing, and, of all things, Tiger 59, shared the best dispersion in the game with 30% of conventional DD dispersion. What it means is that, at longer ranges, Ragnar’s effective DPM becomes higher than other dds with nominally higher DPM. For example, at 7 km, Ragnar’s effective DPM is higher than Vampire II’s, i.e. more shell on target per minute, because Ragnar shells hit, if well aimed, while many of Vampire’s miss.
You forgot to mention Ragnars incredible/insane accuracy. If you can't aim well you will miss for the lack of dispersion BUT, if you aim well then all your shells will hit, it's brutal in that way. Also Ragnar can't be out detected because the moment you're detected you pop the radar on. Ragnar detect is 7.5K and her radar is also 7.5K. Honestly though, the way I play her (long range sniping and DD covering) I don't usually get detected until I fire my long range guns (15.6k via 4 point AA and gunnery skill). Keep her angled properly and she's one tough cookie! She's susceptible to torps though because of her size and lack of maneuverability. About the same size as a Minotaur. I use the acceleration mod so she can pop in and out of island cover reasonably well although I typically open water her But having that option is great and I do use it that way often.
It would be hilarious to do a mock "Should You Get a Steel Submarine?" and use Gato to review the new submarine changes; then "Should You Get a Steel CV?" whenever CV changes come in later this year I'm interested more in the RB ships because most of them are sleepers but there's also some hidden gems. Van Speijk has become one of my favorite ships in the game.
I would LOVE a coal ship ranking/comparison. T8-T10. Not a whole lotta reason to go below that as most people will be buying in the afformentioned range.
Re: coal ships, since there aren't any at Tier VIII, I think that makes an easy demarcation point for you. Tiers IX-X are what most play most often and there are four Tier VII coal ships (Flint, Blyska, Lazo, and Duke of York) which you can cover in a quick-ish video just by themselves (with a couple 'honorable mentions' for any other lower tier ships which you personally find interesting or fun), and concentrate on the higher tiers in other content.
Love your content pq, it'd end up being a lot of videos, but for the coal ships you could do a category of 8-10 or 7 and then 6 and under for better comparisons!
Oh but the tier 2 Tachibana is such a beast, no really. A quick comparison of all the premium Fletchers might be fun. Not a big player, so coal ships would be more relevant to me. And maybe for newer players who want a fun ship that can also be a captain trainer.
I go full gunboat on Ragnar, you can bully literally any ship and completely wipe out a CV in 15 seconds if you get close. You can still easily catch DDs out if you grit your teeth for the 5 seconds buffer before you can radar.
I would do a tier 8/9 ranking and a seperate tier 10 ranking. Tier 8/9 ships are mostly for money earning, so I look there more for cosistency like ships I can play for many matches in a row. Tier 10 ships have no premium credit modifier as far as I know, so I look more for fun ships to play for a round or two. (Sherman, Napoli)
Would be nice to see a couple of games with these :-)! RB would be my choice next. I'm going to try and pick up Z42, I prefer more conventional dds to be honest (early in the game Z52 was one of my favourite dds, still like it but powercreep...)
Z-52 is honestly better as a torp DD with her leg mod. She doesn't have the AP arming threshold that Z-42 does, so her guns don't hit anywhere near as hard. Z-42 is the king of cap contesters because her AP can delete any broadside DD in a handful of salvos, even Shima.
I have both of these DDs, they are both worth it to be honest. I got the Ragnar first and then the Z-42. It´s just a matter of preference, do you feel more comfortable having or not having smoke? I´m a DDs main, so smoke is not necessary for me, that´s why I got the Ragnar first.
I have a number of coal ships and thinking about another DD when I get another coupon. Im down to three options Khabarovsk, Hayate or Alvaro De Bazan. I am leaning toward Hayate but would like to see thoughts on these three. If a comparision on two - probably the Khaba and Hayate. Thanks, Im reviewing your videos often.
You chose the DD hunting role, shocker. Tell you a little secret, for all options anywhere in the game, everyone ALWAYS chooses the dd hunting option. Almost every feature of this game is designed to anti-DD.
Z-42 is my boat over the ragtard.....cap controller with 10 guns that slap and ap pen, can reach out with range spam or the best cap contestant besides kleber, Quick smokes are fun running down any one, i found the maneuvering more responsive than most gun boats so you can dodge bigger salvos, but will absorb just about any shell avoid sap and german secondarys (like half the payer base) using range to farm then approach with hydro Still cant beat kleber as a standalone gunner imo but better team boat than gearing or daring.....
As a huge fan this video dissapointed big time, I was hoping you were gonna show gameplay. Watching you merking makes my day. I need my daily dose. Ive already watched all your vids so i need new footage
maybe compare the resource ships against other ships in their ranks since theyre probably going to be bought for ranked and for coal theres not many ships low down so may as well cover them like the lazo i think its called
The real question to me is: why should i buy Ragnar for valuable steel when Gdansk can be grinded for free? Thats not a rethorical, sarcastic question just to say its bad... no, i am actually at exact that decision. On paper they seam very similar (for sure with differances, but stil). so what exactly do we buy with our steel that Gdansk doesnt offer. how do the playstyles differ and whats their battleimpact? Because in the end its not only a decision between Ragnar or Z-42 but it is between Ragnar over Gdansk vs having Lauria, Napoli, Ohio, Stalingrad, etc... (lucky me, i allready have Ohio and Stalin)
Considering how hard it is to get steel dont get the Z42 at all. I have enough Steel to get Ragnar at june, second and I will finally be the most independent from my team I have ever been.
I have both and for me there is a massive difference, Ragnar in my opinion is a S tier Destroyer, Z42 in my opinion is not much better than the Z52, there are very few DDs that can go 1v1 against a Ragnar....
Ragnar is inherently underpowered. It lacks the necessary attributes to make meaningful impact on match result. No burst damage to speak of, split turrets, and yet still retains a fragile platform. Maybe do a quick video for low tier coal ships, like top 5 T7 and below. Then cover T8 and above as much as you want
