The Laser Optimus Prime mold is at its best when used for fake/imposter Optimus Primes.
if you are going to clone a autobot
it is better to. clone or recolor the Optimus prime .
I got back into casually collecting figures right as that mold was being reused for like 30 different guys, I was so confused

They actually had plans to make Legacy series with Straxus as an important villain, but it didn't happen...

I literally just heard of this guy from this video, and I can't decide which version of him I like more, the Bizarro Optimus Prime, or the tormented experiment who turns good, they're both very interesting takes. I'm glad that he got a second chance to be a character, and he wasn't just lost to time like the initial unreleased toy.

I think toxitron has the potential for a great story
Imagine you are a clone of the greatest autobot leader of all time but dubbed "imperfect" by you're creator so you're basically forced Into a war you know nothing about and knowing you're existence is nothing but an accident
He could be the ben riley of transformers if someone attempted it

I’ve always loved this guy’s color scheme, and the fact that the animated one is based off of one of my favorite Superman villains makes me like him even more

It really is amazing which Transformers can go from obscurity to front page news.
If I had a dollar for every time the Laser Optimus mold was used for a villain and wound up eclipsing the original in terms of popularity, i'd have two dollars. Which isn't a lot but yada yada.
The first time they did that was for Robots in Disguise (2001)/Car Robots with Scourge.
I'm convinced, I'm adding this to my collection.
You won't regret it. He's the only one of that mold I want, and he's the only one I have (although my daughter is getting Laser Optimus for christmas.) He's such a cool figure, and his colouring helps him stand out.

To be fair, since Toxitron is a loose homage to Toxic Avenger, it's a cardinal sin that NONE of Toxitron toys ever came with a mop...
If they made a pollution themed Decepticon team, Toxitron would for sure be the leader. Acid Storm and Oilmaster would also be on the team.
It's a shame most of the Toxitron Collection is Autobots... Or maybe that's just how nasty and powerful Toxitron is.

The fact Toxitron, Lio Convoy, Animated Prowl, RID 2015 Strongarm AND a Commander Class Ultra Magnus all released this year fills me with life.
If Toxitron had been in the animated cartoon, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a creation of meltdown.
Eh, I just can't see Meltdown doing this since he DESPISED Cybertronians. More likely his research/condition was reverse engineered to arm someone else's project. Be they Decepticon or a human trying to recreate Transformers.
In the comic, oil slick and a tfa incarnation of scalpel from the bayverse allegedly made him

I love this Pea Green and Purple Optimus bootleg.
But as much as I am a fan of Animated, I'm not crazy about that incarnation of Toxie. (Even though I do love the character of Bizzaro from DC.)
It's the Of Masters and Mayhem "The Toxic Transformer" incarnation that really made me LOVE the character even more, basically turning him into the Toxic Avenger of Transformers. To me, that incarnation is the defenitive version of the character, and I'd love to see that version in more stuff.
Its also amazing he's finally getting his G2 Laser Prime Redeco after all these years

I remember Toxitron back when the comic story was the closest thing we got to Animated season 4. I didn't know he was based on an unreleased toy.

Just got this toy last week on Black Friday, I love it, he's so cool. I dont have the laser G2 Prime so this is my first time with the mold!
Because of the hideously garish yellow and purple colour scheme of the G2 version of Onslaught, I've thought of him as a version of Toxitron ever since I learned about the character. As a result, I ended up coming up with new names for the rest of the G2 combaticons: Biohazard (formerly Brawl) Dioxic (Swindle) Stench (Blastoff) and Test-Tube (Vortex.) Together, they form the Chemicons and can combine into Megatox.
In my opinion, going off of his color scheme he would fit in nicely with the Constructicons from G1 and could be a backup component for Devastator in the off chance that someone got damaged or temporatily got offlined during combat.

Honestly, I’d actually love to see a story where elements of both versions of Toxitron are combined to give us a pretty interesting idea.
Imagine if he’s like a joint creation of Starscream and Shockwave who breaks out of the Decepticon Labs only to run into Grapple or some other Autobot and follow them back to base. Maybe he’d try to ride one of The Dinobots like a rocking horse or something since he’d probably have the mind of a child at that point.
I’d also like to imagine that Toxitron would probably get along swimmingly with ether The Junkions or The Monsterbots.

I never heard of this character. The iceberg of The Transformers is really deep.
Love repaints of Transformers, given us all a new colletible toy to add to the collection. Then hearing from our nearest & dearest don't you already have that. Then we turn around and say it is a completely different character. When that sadly fails you go to an episode of the Basics to prove this is a different character. Then everything is settled or not!
I’ve always known about this character and it wasn’t until the Wreckers story that really made me fell in love with the character. I’ve hunted that Combiner wars one when I started collecting and now he’s got a modern figure and I’m happy to have seen this guy get the love he deserved

The Legacy line has introduced a lot of characters to many fans.
Why did they cancel it? It has so much good stuff it could've become legendary like TFA or TFP or IDW
@DrCocofruit That happens a lot. Shows wind down, characters get cut, or entire plot lines get changed last minute.

Ah hell yeah, toxitron. One of my favorite obscure characters from the franchise. Its also funny how different the interpretations of him are.
Also, mans beat the scrap out of jetfire and spin-outs entire team, which is pretty damn cool.

I think the tortured experiment version of Toxitron has potential and should be canon in Transformers going forward.
I remember the day I found out about this guy. I was just minding my own business, scrolling through Scourge’s wiki page when I saw he was redecoed into another transformer I had never heard of. The rest is history and I know have a Toxitron in my collection.
I have just discovered Toxitron and I already love him.
Would like to correct that TFCC Toxitron toy was actually repaint of CW Motormaster.
Though I just realized, missed opportunity to make Toxitron from TR Voyager Optimus mold.
Also would like to add, in Shell Game continuity (Universe designation: Viron 704.31 Epsilon); Scourge who had challenged Megazarak for leadership of the Predacon/Decepticon, was later poisoned by Tox-En and had his chassis recycled with new mind by Megazarak into that timeline's Toxitron.

What do you think Toxitron would be like if he was as powerful as Nemesis Prime? If he's the opposite of Optimus Prime, Does that mean Optimus like to keep the environment clean?
What would happen if this Optimus Prime lookalike bot chose a garbage truck as it's alt mode?
Optimus Prime believes that all life is precious. Of course he'd be environmentally friendly.

Toxitron is a character they should pull out of the vault more often it’ll be cool to get him as a villain for the next Transformers live action film and have megatron finally come back towards the end
OK now I know what the next collaborative figure needs to be, because we need a Captain Planet crossover figure now. That way we could have Captain planet vs Toxitron.
G.I.Joe's Eco-Warriors would work better.
I don't say this often (some might say "never"), but I think the TFCC version of the character is my favorite, both in design and personality. To the former, because he's *almost* Optimus, but not quite. As to the latter, not only is there just generally a glut of "bozo" type Decepticons and in my opinion it isn't a terribly interesting archetype, but the personality they did decide upon, "mostly eloquent rage machine looking for both revenge and validation," is *greatly unique and intriguing*! It's good stuff!
even after getting a Velocitron Scourge after seeing Toxitron and leaning about the character I knew I had to get my self a figure of him. being a slight fan of the Toxic Avenger helped a lot for this

The concept of a Transformers Bizarro sounds way cooler than it has any right to be
Toxitron would be a fun character for a halloween special in a Transformers series. An old ghost story risen from a toxic swamp to cause havoc in a small town, it would all be a fun reference to classic monster movies and zombie flicks
I liked that idea for TFA Toxitron being an imperfect backwards clone of Optimus.
Picked one of these up a few weeks ago at the store. The color scheme is crazy but cool at the same time. Love the backstory too.

I’ve been curious about his whole deal, especially since my son was super excited about seeing the Legacy figure in the store.
This is awesome! An unreleased figure to comic book comedian to Wrecker Combiner to Legacy headliner, Toxitron sure has went on a wild journey. Fitting that he was starred in a comic titled the Toxic Transformer too. I'm featuring him in a roleplay I'm doing in which he, Jhiaxus and Straxus lead a subfaction of Decepticons.

They should really add Toxitron to one of the new Transformers Series
It would be better to put him in a series for teen/young adult. I love him in "Of Masters and Mayhem", but that incarnation of him isn't suited for a kid shos.

There's also Scourge (RID 2001), the first redeco version of G2 Laser Optimus Prime. Scourge looks like Optimus Prime when Prime got scanned along with a diesel tanker truck carrying 10,000 gallons of rocket fuel. Toxitron is pretty much likes that, but with a tanker truck carrying sludge or polluted water instead of rocket fuel.
I can imagine this guy singing 'Toxic Love' from 'FernGully: the Last Rainforest' as he sprays a rainforest with acid
This guy would have been popular in the early 90s, when Captain planet and GI Joe Eco warriors was a thing.
This character is so obscure, he might as well be a cryptid in his own right. A giant, toxic mechanical yeti who only was spoken of in passing.
Oddly wholesome for such a dangerous figure :) Great show, thank you! Obscure Character Month is my absolute favorite part of The Basics!
