Missed a lot of good ones here, my top 7 would be super mario 2, pokemon red/blue, megaman iv, ducktales 2, contra, castlevania 2, batman the animated series
Thank you. That's very kind of you to say so! 😊 I think it's partly because I don't have a regular upload schedule or maybe I don't promote them enough as it's just a hobby ..?
Yes! I once owned probably every type of gameboy but either gave them to relatives or lost them. Only one I kept was my red pocket (that reminded me of a Pokédex) and I’m trying to rebuild my old collection... which started with a classic gray DMG. This list is so helpful and it’s now a life goal to re-obtain any old game I once owned. Thankfully I still have mario 2, links Awakening, and red and blue Pokémon games. Thank you for this list to help me get started with other titles to add :)
Great list, Matt. Quite a few I had as a kid there, and loved, like Kirby's Dreamland, Tetris, Mario/Wario Land. Link's Awakening would be my number one too.
Really well presented and it's a good selection of games too. I got my Gameboy in 1991 (sadly no longer with us, RIP) and it had Tetris as the free game. I can't begin to imagine how many batteries I used on just that one game! I remember really enjoying Double Dragon on here, and especially Bubble Bobble.
+Snowkitten aw shame to hear you no longer have it. I still need to try Double Dragon on it! I just love how they made such great games with such strict hardware limitations :)
It lasted for nearly 15 years but big chunks of the display stopped working. Shame really but it lasted a long time! Double Dragon is well worth a play - it's a great conversion. :)
You scared me because I thought you wern't going to include pokemon, I am so glad you did, I am playing through blue version which reminds me I haven't played it in about 2 months!
1:52 power supply? i mean yea, they released a sold-separately power adapter so you can play the gameboy plugged to the wall with no batteries, but who did that?
That Batman game you showed at the end is actually a LOT of fun! I already have some of these, but I can also recommend DuckTales. It's a great game. And Batman The Animated Movie for GB is a fun platformer too.
+Candi's Classic Game Shrine Ah yes the 3DS is a fantastic way to get some of these! In fact, that's how I play the Zelda DX and oracle of ages/seasons games! :)
The Everdrives are fantastic. I own all of them minus the Turbo one, SNES one and Master System one. They're well worth the money. The retron I hear mixed views about. I like the idea behind them though. I just don't like that flash carts won't work on the retron.
Very slick video! My favorite was The Ren & Stimpy Show : Veediots, tho not a classic title & I believe it was originally on the SNES. I just spent an incredible amount of time playing it for some reason as a kid. Probably because I loved the cartoon. lol
+nightnightiko thank you!! And yes that was an awesome show! So crazy! Haha. Did you play it on the super game boy or did you mean it as a specific SNES game? :)
My first 4 GB games were Batman, Burgertime Deluxe, Home Alone, and Sneaky Snakes. I used to steal my cousin's Mario Land 2 everytime she came to my house, suprised I never got my own copy of the game. The 2 games though that got the most mileage were Pokemon Red and Donkey Kong '94.
Tetris killed a many number of batteries on my original Gameboy! I still need to play the 2nd and 3rd Mario games, I only ever played the first one as a kid, they look a lot better than the original for sure.
+Retro Power Up oh yes you definitely need to try the other Mario games. I also highly recommend Wario Land 2 on the Game Boy Color. That game was very addictive and fun! :)
Great list, I like the first Mario land on the gameboy just because of nostalgia and the awesome soundtrack (I do acknowledge the 2nd one is the superior game). Another great video, almost 1,000 subs! I think Joe from game sack stated Metroid 2 is the only game where your goal is genocide, lol. Truly a classic, some great power ups.
+tuffasgong there's so many tunes from the game boy that I remember so well. I just loved the little melodies. So impressive with such limited hardware! + yes gradually getting nearer 1000 now. Might still take a couple of months but I'm already planning a video to mark the occasion :)
I have all of those except Kirby which I still need to find a good copy of. I would highly recommend the Pokemon Trading Card game, Yoshi's Cookie and Dr. Mario
Thank you! I don't have much in my Game Boy collection other than what I had/bought when it was released and available in shops. I have considered collecting more, but at the moment my main focus is Mega Drive and I really want to get a Sega Saturn at some point. However, I may do a short video at some point showing which games I do currently have in my collection :-)
Good stuff, cool to see that Batman game again. I actually preferred playing Gameboy games in the lovely black and white the Gameboy Pocket had over the GBC. So crisp and a massive jump from the green, especially when backlit and widescreen on SP. I think Link's Awakening should definitely have been included here instead. Metroid 2 was ruined for me as I played Super Metroid first ;-(
There are some cheap options available. If you're going to start I would recommend a Game Boy Advance SP as they have a rechargeable battery and a back-lit flip screen which is handy for playing in the dark. It plays Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games, so it's a great handheld to start with :-)
MyGamerXP Awesome!!! :) Though should I just buy a DS Lite since they have a GBA Game Slot? A GBS SP and a DS Lite cost the same amount on Amazon so it doesnt matter which one I buy. Also does the DS Lite play GB and GBC games besides GBA?
MyGamerXP Hello! :D Thanks for the advice!!!! :) Just yesterday I bought a really nice looking Yellow Gameboy Pocket for $15 on Amazon! :D Also yiure really nice ans cool and I was eondering if you would check out my channel!
Gameboy Advanced SP's are really high in price, because everyone wants one. I'd recommend Gameboy Color for starting out, because it's generally cheaper, and if you want to start collecting right away, then that's your best bet.
TeenWithAGameboy Hello! :D I just bought a really nice Yellow Gameboy Pocket yesterday on Amazon for $15!!! :D Yeah, I,know that the Advance SP's are expensive but I dont think I really want to collect them anyways. Also I Subscribed to you!!! :D Would you please check out my channel? :)
I would have replaced Tetris with Warioblast and Donkey Kong with Donkey Kong Land 2. Perhaps I would add to the list a game where you play as a squirrel (don´t remember the title) and Castelvania
I don't mean to take it out on this channel specifically, but why does everyone push Tetris on us? Am I really the _only_ one who thinks Tetris is boring as shit? I've been struggling to see the appeal for decades. Past or present day, I'd take just about any other game over Tetris.
this is outrageous indeed... the kid gets a free gameboy from this robot and the kid then zaps it... your welcome kid...
The robot even created the kid AND the Gameboy!
Super mario land 2 is a must have game for any gameboy collector.
Definitely! One of my all time favourite mario games :-)
I got three games together they were Tetris DX, Frogger, and Super Mario Land 2: 6 golden coins
Missed a lot of good ones here, my top 7 would be super mario 2, pokemon red/blue, megaman iv, ducktales 2, contra, castlevania 2, batman the animated series
"The Pokemon series has evolved ..." oh you, lol.
+Jikyuu haha I just couldn't help myself. Glad somebody noticed! :p
Great list. The original gameboy is a machine with a huge library of fantastic titles.
Please tell me how the heck you don’t have more views or subs?! This is such high quality!
Thank you. That's very kind of you to say so! 😊
I think it's partly because I don't have a regular upload schedule or maybe I don't promote them enough as it's just a hobby ..?

Could
I spent 4 days saving up for this gameboy, and I'm 13 and I love retro gaming
I still remember how awesome it was when I got the first gameboy. The new gameboy and the new games had a wonderful smell lol.
Great list, Matt. Quite a few I had as a kid there, and loved, like Kirby's Dreamland, Tetris, Mario/Wario Land. Link's Awakening would be my number one too.
+onaretrotip aw yeah leaving out Zelda is a decision I was stuck on for days!!!
You teased gargoyle's quest, one of my favorites, but still the list is very strong.
Loved the video, I'm subscribing.

I’m sad my game boy also died by battery problem Rip game boy color (1991-2018
6:30,
Agreed, I got a GBC and pokemon red and absolutely LOVE it! Just the pokemon, and the rival and everything!
Nice list, i already own them all!
+DpoProductions there's so many great games for this system. Do you have any other big favourites? :)
Um solar striker, kwirk, and trax from the top of my head
You scared me because I thought you wern't going to include pokemon, I am so glad you did, I am playing through blue version which reminds me I haven't played it in about 2 months!
My goodness, just because that kid beat that robot in Tetris doesn't mean he should zap the robot with his lightning fingers!
My faves that i own are Boxxle 1 or 2, Kwirk, Amazing Tater, Zelda, Avenging Spirit, Probotector 2 and Revenge of the Gator. Oh and Parodius!
There's a few there I hadn't even heard of before. Thank you. I will check them out! :-)
Have a look at my video of my Game Boy collection, all the games are there plus a few more!
MyGamerXP Probotector is the European version of Contra, by the way. Probotector 2 is Super C, I am aware.
Great list. I have a bunch of these downloaded on the 3DS and had a few in physical form growing up.
+Candi's Classic Game Shrine Ah yes the 3DS is a fantastic way to get some of these! In fact, that's how I play the Zelda DX and oracle of ages/seasons games! :)
Have you thought of looking into a flash cart for the old systems?
+Candi's Classic Game Shrine I have been tempted to get an Everdrive for my Mega Drive and Nintendo 64. I also want a Retron 5 :)
The Everdrives are fantastic. I own all of them minus the Turbo one, SNES one and Master System one. They're well worth the money. The retron I hear mixed views about. I like the idea behind them though. I just don't like that flash carts won't work on the retron.
I always thought Kirby was a ghost he looks like one of the ghosts in Mario 3
Very slick video!
My favorite was The Ren & Stimpy Show : Veediots, tho not a classic title & I believe it was originally on the SNES. I just spent an incredible amount of time playing it for some reason as a kid. Probably because I loved the cartoon. lol
+nightnightiko thank you!! And yes that was an awesome show! So crazy! Haha.
Did you play it on the super game boy or did you mean it as a specific SNES game? :)
Np! Yeah I just played it on game boy...never played it on the SNES. ^_^
I got scared that the number one choice was going to show up haha
I got one when I was 12. I still have all the games I bought and, I'm gonna give them to my son when he is old enough (he is 3 right now)
I remember hating tetris and had to buy mario island with it. later on got addicted to tetris and loved it
Must have... Gargoyles Quest and Double Dragon.
Will you make a top 7 to start your collection for gameboy colour and gba?
My first 4 GB games were Batman, Burgertime Deluxe, Home Alone, and Sneaky Snakes. I used to steal my cousin's Mario Land 2 everytime she came to my house, suprised I never got my own copy of the game. The 2 games though that got the most mileage were Pokemon Red and Donkey Kong '94.
I loved 6 golden coins! still own it in fact. Timeless classic :)
Yeah the whole trilogy is very strong. Three more platfromers to throw on the 'better than Sonic' pile.
Thats a great list and a nice video well done.
+Official GaminGuys thank you! It took me a LOT of hours to make! :)
What game is it where the man collected fruit and eggs in the intro
That is called "Adventure Island". It also existed on the NES and SNES :-)
My favorite are Castlevania 2 Belmont's revenge, Mega Man 3 and ninja gaiden shadow
my faves are pokemon and zelda
Tetris killed a many number of batteries on my original Gameboy! I still need to play the 2nd and 3rd Mario games, I only ever played the first one as a kid, they look a lot better than the original for sure.
+Retro Power Up oh yes you definitely need to try the other Mario games. I also highly recommend Wario Land 2 on the Game Boy Color. That game was very addictive and fun! :)

+ yes gradually getting nearer 1000 now. Might still take a couple of months but I'm already planning a video to mark the occasion :)
+MyGamerXP Definately had a great little sound chip and the Nintendo devs knew how to properly use it.
I have mario land 2 but the copy I got from amazon can save so I have to beat it in one run
Ah, that will likely be due to the battery inside. You can replace those :-)
No Operation C/Probotector? Yeah, it's hard, but it's great! It's just like the NES game.
batman 1 is the best... music, gameplay, short but the best cause still the same pleasur to play !
You make a fantastic video, thank you for making this video
All great games, good picks! I personally had also some great times playing Mario's Picross and some TMNT games too 😄
+Famigamers I haven't tried any TMNT games on the system yet, but I do hope to soon. Big fan of the Turtles! 😊
MyGamerXP You may change it to a Top 8 :)
I have all of those except Kirby which I still need to find a good copy of. I would highly recommend the Pokemon Trading Card game, Yoshi's Cookie and Dr. Mario
What was that last game after Pokémon?...look like a mini Batman shooter😆
Love the video! I stopped collecting for about a year. Hoping to get back into Game Boys! ^_^
Thank you! I don't have much in my Game Boy collection other than what I had/bought when it was released and available in shops. Aw yeah Link's Awakening was a tough one as I love that game so much! It will be in my Game Boy Color recommendations for sure though! :-)
Ohh man the nostalgia here
Lol I’m getting emotional 😎
This is my childhood
Game Boy tennis and Double Dragon too 👍
Nice list, I'd have had R-TYPE, SHADOW WARRIORS and REVENGE OF THE GATOR in there.
Great video!!
Sorry for the silly question. But can you save your progress for the pokemon games as you go?.
Great choices
My Mother got me One for Christmas, with Kirby's Dreamland. then some time later I traded a RC car for Metroid 2.
I enjoyed this. Thanks :)
What about castlevania
That kid and his gameboy were literally birthed by this robot that the kid arbitrarily destroys once he beats it in Tetris.
you deserve more subscribers bro
Thank you, that means a lot! Sharing my videos and leaving likes really helps. I'll also have more videos coming soon :-)
Hi! :D Awesome video!!! 👍 I have no Gameboy or no Gameboy Games but I would die to start collecting! :) Though im just 14 and have no money.... ;(

JayTd yes
Yes, they should do :-)
I would have replaced Tetris with Warioblast and Donkey Kong with Donkey Kong Land 2. Perhaps I would add to the list a game where you play as a squirrel (don´t remember the title) and Castelvania
Ninja Gaiden, a must have for the platform :-)
Super mario land 1, Kirby, batman, Bart Simpson “camp deadly” and of course Tetris.
Good video thank you.
I cant even buy games for a reasonable price these days its like everyone thinks the most common games are over $160
#1 Gameboy Everdrive
Why dose no one ever show love to Paper boy 1 or 2 for gameboy? Like the content new sub.
Another one is mole mania such a good puzzler
I started with red too, but got stock on crystals version forever >.<
There's no better version
The commercial was misleading it said I would get friend. 😑
Do you know what this is worth?
Yoda Stories
I can easily live without Pokemon but to me Mole Mania is essential.
I don't mean to take it out on this channel specifically, but why does everyone push Tetris on us? Am I really the _only_ one who thinks Tetris is boring as shit? I've been struggling to see the appeal for decades. Past or present day, I'd take just about any other game over Tetris.
WE ALREADY KNOW THAT POKEMON WOULD BE 1ST.
I have a new gameboy collection video up on my channel, that i think you might like
I favored Pokémon
i own them
Cool! Any others you recommend? 😊
So who else is picking up Pokémon first?
All games made by Capcom
