  • Need matching Christmas family pajamas? This is the sewing tutorial for you! Make these pajama pants out of fleece or flannel, add pockets, and sew a pair for everyone you know. Step-by-step for beginners, this video will help you sew the perfect pair of comfortable pajamas. The waist and hem are both customizable to the size needed, and if you create a pattern you can sew these pants over and over!
    *If you are making children’s pajamas, be aware that most flannel and fleece fabrics say “not intended for children’s sleepwear” as they are not flame-retardant*
    //TIPS FOR SEWING
    • When sewing the hem, start on the side seam to make the hem seam less noticeable
    • If you can, remove the arm of your sewing machine and slip the hem and waistband around your machine to make them easier to sew
    • When sewing up the straight side of the legs, match the two pockets together and ease the fabric so the pockets match (that’s why you put the pocket on the back 1/2 inch lower - mine in the video didn’t need to ease as much as I thought)

    Cutting the pockets as rectangles is absolutely PRICELESS!!! I have always hated the traditional pocket pattern! Thank you!

      Absolutely agree. And I love the fact that it didn't matter to her that the packet Pockets didn't match perfectly. Love her let's just get through this attitude. Also loved the way she explained how to ease the fabric so they matched. I've had so many projects where I've had fabric left over at one end or the other never understanding that I needed to ease it so it matched.

    Your pajama pants video was by far the best I've seen. It was instructive and entertaining at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing your time and your talent with us.

    We’ll you had me at Drink and Sew! I like wine myself. This is the best follow along tutorial I have found. I am recently starting to sew, have wanted to do it my whole life. My grandmother used to make all our PJ’s and she made all my dads clothes… he liked being different. As such I’ve always wanted to be both…sew and be different. Thank you SO much for posting your video. You’re a gem!!! And really fun too!

      So I'm realizing that I definitely need more practice in this area before I really feel like I could teach it... but I found some great videos that I hope can be helpful to you in the meantime, since I don't know when I'll film and post a resizing pants video! ERMERGERD I wish I'd have seen your video before I cut up a pair of my sister's pjs :O How freaking fun are you since I also like to sew with a beverage and was drinking a brew from my hometown Frederick MD brewery, Flying Dog while watching your video. My husband brought me a snack of crackers, cheese and salami while I was watching your video (cut up pjs in my lap) and wondered why I was laughing! LOL! Thank you so much for doing this video! I LOVE pockets and I LOVE beer ;)

    Threaded elastic though waistband with safety pin, but even turning the safety pin backwards and wrapping it with tape, the pin opens on me, making it difficult to pull through the whole way. Ideas???

    • @drinkandsewthings4806
      @drinkandsewthings4806  3 года назад +1

      That’s super frustrating! I’ve had to deal with that as well. Usually, I just try to close the pin back up inside the waistband and keep going. However, when I’ve tried to thread cord I’ve also used a straw and wrapped tape around the cord to attach it and that’s worked. I know elastic isn’t the same thing, but maybe that would work?
