What do you think your Superman?”
“You know… I always wanted to be him.”
He always wanted to be the hero, and he never gave up.
I love that Cheryl’s father died and Douglas son died.
Both lost the figure, and though they dislike eachother in the beginning, they start to lean on eachother and fulfill the “father/child”
    Relationship both are seeking.
    They become what eachother need.

There was a bit more to one of the last scenes not shown here, where Douglas raises his gun to shoot Heather in the back as she leaves, but after a short exchange, elects not to. To me, this adds a bit more context to the bad ending; Heather didn't fully trust Douglas because of his apparent willingness to gun her down to prevent 'God' from being born. And so, with her possessed mind, she finishes him off in the end.

I had the biggest crush on him when I was younger and I still do I’m 20 now it’s just the way he says sorry, I automatically fell for him.

Great video 👍 I think that Heather reminded Douglas of his son, because she said : "You don't have to feel responsible. I know it's not your fault".
I think Douglas's son attempted to rob the bank in order to help his family's financial situation. I can picture Douglas apologizing to his son for not being a better provider before the bank robbery and the son saying : "You don't have to feel responsible. I know it's not your fault."

She really is. She’s not entirely evil as you’re lead to believe and by the end you get the idea that her cruelty towards Heather was an act of self sacrifice as she admits she deserves no mercy for the pain she caused Heather and expects to be condemned to Hell for her actions. Truly fantastic writing.

Absolutely correct, especially if you take Claudias perspective into consideration.
From her point of view everything she says and does seems plausible. She knows for a fact she has powers and Alessa had powers, she knows for a fact that her version of god exists (in some whay shape or form). So why not believe the rest?
And as you said what she does is not done for herself but (at least from her perspective) for the salvation of mankind. Those are not just the words of a mad woman (as other media might typically depict it) but we get to see how she comes to her conclusions and her background that shapes the way she sees the world.
Truly great writing and imo the best developed antagonist in the series.

15:07 I’ve always interpreted this as Douglas revealing he was the one who shot and killed his son.

@@SamuelBlack84 it’s implied it was the police. The head canon I have is Douglas was one of the cops called to handle a bank robbery. He gets there and finds the robber on the run and ski masked up so his face is hidden. Douglas tells him to freeze but the guy is scared and reaches for his weapon. Douglas fires, fatally wounding him. As he approaches he hears the robber utter “d...dad”. Douglas recognizes that voice. He rushes and removes the mask to see it was his son. He tells his son to hold on and radios an ambulance. His son, choking on his own blood says “I’m....s.....sorry” and dies. Douglas finds the gun his son had wasn’t even loaded and him reaching for it was an act of suicide as he didn’t want to go to jail.
This has been my head canon since 2003

I think the Japanese novelization says that he got the news of his son's death while he was at work, as well as whatever broke his leg was a manifestation of his guilt over him.

This is actually not true. The second time you encounter Douglas is after the first boss and right before you enter the Subway.

Awesome video, but the second tine Douglas is encountered is after the nightmare version of the mall. Harry's death is the third time I believe !
