Hi! Tom here, Level Designer and 3D Artist at ACE Team. Just wanted to thank you for playing Clash and for your kind words. It's always heartwarming to see people enjoy something in which you poured so much work into. We're very proud of the game here at the studio, and it may not have exploded in sales, but seeing this kind of content makes all the hard work worth it anyways. Thanks again! PD: You definetively gained a new subscriber!
Are you kidding me? Wow. Thank you kindly! Actually, I'm currently playing Eternal Cylinder and loving it. It's one of my son's favorites and he convinced me to play it. I'm glad I did!
I just bought your guys entire catalog on Steam. Keep doing what you're doing. I think you guys are on the precipice of really becoming a breakout dev team.
I'm playing it right out, I'm near the end. It's a great game, not without issues, but great nonetheless. Shame the devs admitted that it flopped pretty hard, on one hand it's undeserved but on the other hand the game probably lost half to ¾ of its potential sales from having an absolutely dumb uninteresting name. "Clash" is inevitably associated with cheap mobile games. If they kept the "Zeno Clash" name, or even just "Zeno" instead of "Clash", I think the game would've had much more success. Even a lot of Zeno Clash fans don't know this game exists, and it's entirely due to the name. A tragic lesson in marketing.
I just got this game recently and man this is a lot of fun. I remember playing a demo of Zeno Clash all the way back on Xbox 360 and was surprised it ran on the Source Engine of all things. Never knew years later they'd make a Souls-like relying on nothing but bare fists which I just LOVE. So far, my current combination is Boxer and Lighting stance, and I'm getting the hang of all the little ticks to really make the combat good. I see lots of clear inspirations of these current styles and they're animated so well. Looking to play through this 100 percent all the way!
Same happened to me: no matter the reviews I wanted to play this game, and your video was the last push I needed to do it. I don't regret, what a beautiful and engaging game! Well, at least for me, it was a total pleasure. I never felt lost, I was delighted by the characters and world design, definitely my type of game, a hidden gem. On the contrary, other games with the highest scores have bored/disgust me to death. I'm subscribing, because I will trust your reviews the best! Can't praise enough this game for the hours of joy it has gifted me with.
this has been on my wishlist for months and months -- not sure where but i clocked this last summer and the main character design alone caught my attention. will definitely be picking it up on the next sale tho so thanks for the video.
I'll tell you what it reminds me of the classic Japan story the Lone wolf and Cub in a Zany brutal world I just love the fact that our weapons are our bare hands.
Protip: You don't have to play the ritual. You can just walk right up to your opponents and punch them in the face and begin the fight, no penalties or anything.
This game looked really good to me and I was thinking about getting it but some of the reviews discouraged me. I'm one of those people that gets lost easily. The way you described the exploration tho makes me want to try it.
Love eternal cylinder. Randomly stumbled upon this when i was seeing when the cult of the lamb was getting a physical release. I've literally purchased the physical version today. I have been loving it. It's a great review, man. I think I will check out zeno clash (if that's how it's spelt).
Niccce, I had bought the first Zeno Clash just before the Xbox 360 store shut down then got the sequel on the PS3. I've knew of those two for a while since Atlus published'em, and I was looking thru Sega & Atlus' catalog. I recently saw this one while on the wikipedia for 2. Different publisher. I'm not keen on the protag's design, but I like the change to third-person. I'll get it.
Wish you a lot of fun on Clash: AoC! I got uncomfortably weirded out by Pseudo's appearance, yet very intrigued. His looks have really grown on me and it's making me want more really weird main characters, like Pseudo or Munch, Abe and Stranger (Oddworld). Pseudo's presence in the game is helped all the more with the writing and voice acting.
I have to say I love this game! I just got up to the point of regrouping with the boy after the fight with the master... and I beat him on my second try! I wish it was my first, but he's really tough and the grab hand thing was hell. Anyway, I was struggling with the Director night fight and I had upgraded my projectile special move for that fight, but it really wasn't worth using and I beat him down with Boxing, lol. However, that projectile special move really cheeses The Master fight... so yeah we all love a bit of chesse in a souls like game right? lol. The one fight I have ever used it and won. I hope this info helps others... cause I think that boss might drive people mad. ; D
I recently finished the 2nd game, its not even that great of a "game" but for some reason the weird artstyle, story and dialogues kept me playing until I actually finished the game. I was looking forward to this one when it was announced, mainly for the artstyle. Theres just something odd and captivating about this series.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not really all that interested in trophies personally, but I know there's lots of people that love them. I hope you get them all!
@Zoznerol true. I'm still in the first hour of the game and I've decided to backtrack to collect stuff I missed and I'm loving the game so far! Such a niche game.
why do I have to watch this video at 1.5x speed? I mean, I don't ever do that (was never one of those who got used to speed up content. I like it on its own time - it's part of it.) But... for some reason, the pace & speech rhythm here are in a way that 1,5x speed makes it natural. (And now I'm kinda puzzled.)
Agreed. It’s not that it’s just too slow, but that the spacing between words and syllables is inconsistent. Kind of a tease. Also when emphasis is placed, it’s so drawn out. It’s like listening to a song that’s not in tempo
@@zathe. interesting. I'll look into that to see what you're talking about. I do know what you're saying to a certain degree. I do these pauses between words. It's apparently a thing I do.
@@Zoznerolya I was wondering if you were purposefully spacing words and kinda stalling to fill the timer but it's 17 minutes, your time, had you spoken at a normal concise speed still would have hit 12ish minutes. I def recommend playing it at 1.25 speed, doesn't that sound like a normal presenter's rhythm? Perhaps it's due to reading a script?
More similar to a god of war 4/5 than a souls like. RUclips reviewers will slap that buzzword onto every RPG for more clickbait views at a disservice to the games themselves.

@@Zoznerol That's so nice to hear! The Eternal Cylinder is a favourite of mine!
@tomwoz3569 did you work on that one too?
I think this game deserves a adaptation of it’s version
I just bought your guys entire catalog on Steam. Keep doing what you're doing. I think you guys are on the precipice of really becoming a breakout dev team.

Just bought it, so mission accomplished

You make a great point with the name. It does sound like a trash mobile game 🤣 but I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would.
@doomdoomdoomdoomloom I just learned the writer is actually the writer for another two of my favorite games: Talos Principle and The Eternal Cylinder
What's the playtime until completition
@goldenglowmaster8510 I think it took me just under 20hrs.
@@goldenglowmaster8510 Took me around 18 hours for 100%
As a long-time Zeno Clash fan I'm just happy people are starting to catch on.
Hopefully. I really enjoyed the game.
The art style looks eye catching yet the designs look ugly but not in a bad way
I love the art style so much! That's what drew me to the game in the first place.
It deserves a high respect do you not think ugly is fun?
The game is really worth inspiring
And it deserves much more like make a animated movie based in the world this is set in
I would definitely watch that!
@@Zoznerolif you ask me this is just a franchise trying to grow and it needs to set the mood with a strange hero type

I got it on a Christmas sale. Definitely worth it.
Its been on my back log for a while. I have to play it if only for the art style. Man its wack and I love it
Everything is so ugly but in the best way possible! It's a gorgeous game.
i found the game the same way, it just got recommend in the store randomly, its been in my wishlist for a while now, ill might pick it up myself now
Hey you! Long time! How you been? Hope everything is going well.
Great vid going to order it now!

It really isn't all that confusing. There are a bunch of branching paths, but the way forward is always fairly obvious.
This game looks intriguing, never heard and might pick it up!
I picked it up just for the art style. It really surprised me how much I enjoyed it.

It definitely looks more akin to an Evil West or Gungrave Gore in it being a unique old school hack n slasy experience with varying inspirations.
Is Gungrave Gore worth playing? I saw it free on ps+ and it seemed like stupid fun.
This game feels like playing one of the those odd late night adult cartoons that used to run on MTV back in the 90's and I'm absolutely here for it.
I can totally see that
Loved Zeno Clash on XBLA back in the day :)
I really want to play it. Looks fun.
A cult classic masterpiece. I absolutely loved this game and it's incredible soundtrack.

This looks sick. The Zeno games are like the progenitor of the Oddworld games and deserve to be at least as big.
Since the oddworld games came out years before, they would be the progenitors, but you're right about this deserving to be a big.

Neither. This is how I speak. There's a couple of people here and there, such as yourself, that say it's a bit slow. Whatever. It's a tiny percentage.
