Like, he goes out on the lake, takes way his flashlight and calls him a baby. And there's no indication on what he was planning to do that night on the lake. Body dismorphia is a disorder where a person ACTUALLY, visually sees their body as looking different than it does in reality. This is not displayed in Eddie's character. Eddie is over weight. He acknowledges that. That by no means excuses how he was treated, however his perception of reality related to his own body is accurate. He dresses like a child, not a fraternity guy. The childlike dress and job choice imply stunted mental growth due to the excessive bullying he grew up with. If he does have an eating disorder, it displays more as a binge eating disorder, particularly bulimia as there is emphasis on him throwing up. Anorexia displays completely differently. More research is required on your part before making the "anaylsis" that you did.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is an excellent masterpiece by Bloober Team, noting the fact the original Silent Hill 2 was considered a sales failure back in 2001 by Team Silent. The game is a representational artform where I believe (in my opinion) that James is already dead (or somewhat his body is unconscious) after taking SUICIDE (my theory is just one to three weeks after ending Mary's life, also by time loop). His soul is delusional and somehow trapped to find his lost memories in Silent Hill. This to either to be RESURECTED (Rebirth) or become a sacrifice to INCUBUS (Alessa). If reference to Maria DLC, born from a wish, and Silent Hill 4: The Room mythology coincides, the wish is not from James but from Alessa, to make James a sacrifice to the god-like entity that possesses Alessa. In SH4 and SH: Homecoming, the entity after sacrificing 21 souls, the entity requires another sacrifice thereafter. And James, serves this purpose, the DLC Born from a wish, was not actually from James but by Alessa. The Pyramid-head man is actually the executioner, that James is a convicted SINNER, he deserves to die. The executioner, back from the middle-ages in Europe, wears a red (suggest it was from a cult) or brown cone-like cloth (not metal in the game) head covering face to conceal the beheader of a convicted criminal (reference to images found on the internet). The wish, where through psyche-influence people: Maria, a facial resemblance to Mary (but not body figure and personality, also Maria is blonde and blue-eyes, Mary is a brunette and hazel-eyes) to make James regret his action to end Mary's life. Angela is a rape victim, to imply Mary is victim. Eddie is a serial killer, suggesting that James is a murderer. Laura is a child Mary did not have, even said, "You didn't love her anyway." In Silent Hill 2 DLC: Born from a Wish, Maria was drawn back to Silent Hill just to find that her gun and knife was appropriate from the monsters surprisedly found there. She helped Ernest Baldwin to find a "white liquid" from Blue Creek Apartment to supposedly, and miraculously bring her dead daughter back, Amy. She found herself doubting and delusional about the idea of resurrection. After undergoing such terror, and finding out that she was speaking to a ghost, but I believe Ernest is speaking from the other dimension. Also, I think Ernest is an occult member. But, he ask her to be careful about James, that he is a danger (as the cult presumes). She pursues to find him, otherwise. I believe the summoned UNKNOWN god-like entity by the cult is preparing James, and Maria is one of the objects to start this test. The dimension theory where there are at least three (3): (1) Reality, (2) Fog world (in catholic Christianity is called Purgatory), and (3) the otherworld (or Hell). James seems to be delusional and has amnesia, he is in Purgatory. His soul is searching (Silent Hill 4). For Alessa to take his soul as a sacrifice, James must kill himself by suicide. His corruption (SH4) is evident by having dirty fingers and bugged eyes as game progresses. Alessa made a way for other people to influence this (Alessa's wish). The best is ending is about REBIRTH (reference to Tibetan Book of the Dead), and the worst ending to end James life by SUICIDE where he literally drove his car to lake drowning. This achieves Alessa's wish to make James willingly sacrifice his soul to INCUBUS.

Vincent is the culprit of the creation of the "GTA Theory", which consists of the protagonists going through the streets of Silent Hill, killing whoever gets in their way.

See the game tells you very little about these characters and the only way to fill in the blanks, is by own speculation which is very hard because anyone can say one thing and the other says something completely different. The environment design is so bland and mundane looking also repetitive just like the enemies. But the creature design as well as the sound design is what made me gravitate towards it in the first place.

I can sympathize with James & feel really bad for him, cause him taking his wife's pain away is like equivalent to people turning the life support off of their loved ones. Because truly no one deserves to watch their loved ones suffer.

Its crazy that people would empathize more with a guy like john wick or punisher than james...its shows how acustomed we are for actions...

I feel as thought her behaviors are unintentional manipulation, I just feel she genuinely feels love towards him, just fears being alone ie how Mary probably felt when James left her hospital room to go do whatever he needed while she was sick. She just needed to keep him close and she lashed out when she felt unloved or abandoned.

I have a thesis, based on nothing but a feeling and the jacket James is wearing. The game is supposed to take place in the late 1970s to the early 1980s. James is 29 in the game. Timewise it would fit that he served in vietnam, 10-11 years before the beginning of the game. One could argue that James is very timid and doesn't have the confidence of a former soldier. The thing is, James puts on a persona (alá Carl Jung) to mask who he really is. At the end of the game *SPOILERS* when he faces the two pyramid heads his voice changes. The drops the act, so to speak. Then the choice of fire arms. I think that the weapons were conjured into Silent Hill, just like the monsters. Born from a wish, so to speak. What fire arms could you find? A pistole, a shot gun and a rifle. The only thing missing from a soldiers arsenal is the assault rifle M16. James also knows how to use them immidiately, which supports this silly thesis. I know non of this is canon, but it's fun to speculate. Thanks for reading. Cheers.

Why I prefer Leave over In Water is James fought SO hard through the town to survive and find out what he did, and learned to accept the terrible thing he did, is way more powerful than him deciding to end himself. He had a final chance of redemption and could move on with his life

only person we didn't see her with is Angela.

I always wanted to think she survived and the town helped her problems. The TV in the room with the daddy most likely showed her what happened. Her going up when James was going down, I thought she was able to process the trama after the final acceptance.

I think Angela is looking for her mother because she wishes for her to be alive just like James with Mary. She has already dealt with her guilt of killing the father and brother in Silent Hill but she hasn't wound her mother yet because the can't deal with the guilt of killing her. That might be because her mother might have not been as bad of a person as her father and brother. She could have never sexually or physically assaulted her. Yes, she did say it was Angelas fault what was happening to her but she probably said that because she couldn't bear the guilt of letting that happen to her daughter. And i think the fact that Angela sounds so exited and relieved when she mistakes James for her mother points to this. Like she can finally rest from her guilt fully if she found out that her mother was still actually alive. But the flames keep getting bigger in her hell as she can't find her mother and she walks off into them as she has to face what shes done. And it's too much so she commits suicide like Ito said but the game never shows this so i'd like to believe that she keeps going on her path confronting her demons.

I really really like the new James, he is not too expressive but still has this confused dude complexion. They choose an amazing actor for James.

The point we should really understand from Angela's final scene is that... it's sad to watch someone burn themselves and refuse to get help or help themselves. It's so sad watching that. I always felt that way, and I always felt that James was finally realizing this. In fact, James is the only one of the three (Eddie, Angela, and James) to overcome his shame and guilt.

For me the only good thing about this game is Sakura Head. It was a suprise plot twist on who she really is . The only reason why anyone should finish this game .

I think the reason Konami green lit all these products is to interpret what Capcom achieved with their Resident Evil remakes. They’re trying over the shoulder, 1st person, mobile, etc. My guess is that they’re testing the waters with current players. I think that’s why Silent Hill 2 got a remake because of all else fails they can rely on that to bring in money to cover whatever losses they had with the new entries.

Definitely the worst "Silent Hill" entry ever. Highly repetitive and terrible writing. As soon as I realized it was about "bullying" and after the same chase sequence about three times I had to stop playing.

You are viewing this game from a capitalists lense. When, and in my opinion, I viewed this game from an artistic perspective. It was an ambiguity overload, riddled with a fragmented plot. Lacked character depth. Had too many pacing Issues. There was an over-reliance on symbolism which created an inconsistent tone. It's Silent Hill in name only, from the perspective of an out of touch team.

This game looks rough. The visuals look cool but what little I saw of the story seems kinda laughable.

I find it interesting how Eddie doesn't seem scared of Silent Hill or the monsters. Of course, this is obviously due to the fact that he has lost it and reason and common sense don't matter to him during the game's events. Otherwise, a more stable and logical person would've been focused on trying to survive and escape Silent Hill.

Characters like Eddie prove that the human characters can be as disturbing, if not more so than the monsters in Silent Hill. Plus, people like Eddie can exist in real life, which makes his character that more unsettling.
