I could listen to Silvia all day long. Her accent is so charming. I will be buying my first espresso machine in January and I will choose the Zero 65 All Purpose as my grinder.
"literally" meaning figuratively in this case. Since they didn't really go to Etsy, which I assume is what you meant to type instead of "went of Etsy".
thank you very much for this video (and thanks to Silvia). Will the new special grinding burrs be able to be mounted in the Zero 65? If I understand correctly, the SD Pro has diamond burrs, but not the new burrs... is that right? Finally, since Eureka is fighting retention, is this also the case with models with a hopper (admittedly, there are still some left) and is a model due out very soon (before Christmas, I've got the pen in my hand to write to Santa...)? Thanks again Tom
Me too. I'd like to see a comparison of flavor profiles between the stock burrs on the Eureka and DF models too. I think when it comes to aftermarket burrs most already know what they are getting into.
Hi Tom thanks to and Silvia. I recently got a Mignon Facile and modded it with Aro Espresso's adjustment ring and a single dose bellows. Poor man's Zero😂
Tom when will u get it for review?? (zero 65) I need to grind so fine for my dedica i can hear burrs touching a lill i need help... i dont think thats is normal.
Yea I think I will hold onto my kingrinder k6 for now, these are pretty expensive if you live in Eastern Europe. People in my country buy cars for €600 (or at least many try to), not coffee grinders :D
@@RonaiHenrik I did hand-ground espresso for about 9 months before buying a Eureka. The only time it was annoying is when I was making two drinks back-to-back. I still hand grind certain coffees, actually.
@@RonaiHenrik recently upgraded from K6 to Baratza Encore ESP after being fed up with hand grinding. For me it’s a nice middleground before I spend hundreds more for something like this. When I got the K6 I thought I’d ride it out until I would have saved for something fancy (couple hundred), but I’m really happy I switched. I even prefer the taste, seem to get less fines.
Is there a reason to get this same grinder like previous same size burs ,incline just different dial?also there is no variable speed change as they promised!!
I know but the issue is, I don't know how they'd mount the lower burr, as its carrier is directly on the motor...no room to really screw in from the bottom that I can see.
due to the burr design with the top only being blind burrs, upgradability would be none in this case unless eureka or some third party manufacturer decided to cater to the new eureka line up.
i own the new 65mm all purpose non-pro model for 2-3 weeks. I like it, but it has some problem: after each grinding the adjustment setting breaks and burrs start touching. So i have to make adjustment (find 0 and make a setting) absolutely every time i grind. I try to investigate the problem with the seller in these days.
@nzdravevski yes, dial stays in place. If I want to eliminate the sound, I need to turn it back to 0 after each use and readjust again 🤨 in my opinion there's some problem with the spring that shall make the dial-burr connection firm.
@@1lp1v yes, then I can confirm it is the same issue, mine goes back to normal after burr touch too. Please let me know if you get some more information
I have the 65 all purpose as well and I notice also a strange sound with the burrs. However the problem is solve as soon as I scroll the dialing a bit to the coarser direction. I don't need to readjust it to zero.i wonder however what is causing this.
This video doesn't really explain the differences between the two 'new' models. It doesn't explain why the ORO is more premium (A little wood / tilt, lacking a portafilter fork) doesn't exactly make it more premium in my mind. Also looking up the prices they're actually about the same here in Canada anyway! She claims the burrs are NOT steel but 'pure diamond' yeah that's going to be an expensive burr! In reality that just means the burrs have cryogenically hardened steel burrs! No Diamonds involved! Some websites claim it's a burr coating which I don't believe is actually the case. It's just hardened steel burrs. Outside of commercial use, I don't think that's really a benefit to most people. It means the burrs will last longer before being worn out and needing replacement. But it's a question of wearing out in 10-20 years or 50 -100 years maybe. I had to look up on local espresso gear shops website to really understand the differences between the two models here. The 65 AP seems more like the old Mignon line where it stands up straight (I don't believe tilt makes much of a difference). It also has a hopper and GBW (Grind by weight) that's the main difference. Also another pro on that model is that it has the portafilter forks which many people would appreciate.
@@BensCoffeeRants Hi there! The video is really an introduction, rather than a comparison. The Oro line is their more expensive line. The burrs are cryogenically treated, resulting in a hardened surface. I think the “Black Diamond” is a marketing term. But I don’t know for sure, I think that Eureka should answer that themselves. For sure, the Zero 65 AP is the better value of the two.
The top plate of the SD Pro is plasticky and looks terribly cheap. Do you know whether that was a pre-production thing or is that how it will be for real?
We are currently looking to buy a single-dose grinder and have also looked into Eureka. The new SD has been improved in some areas, but the adjustment wheel is still a compromise. The fact that only Eureka grinding discs can be used (because of the upper grinding disc) is also a major disadvantage. Finally, this grinder lacks a magnetic ejection for better cleaning. The fact that the grinder does not even have an adjustable speed control is then no longer important. That means Eureka is out for us and we will choose a different grinder.
For how much longer will Eureka squeeze this old Minion design by adding more and more patches??? unbelievable that people still fall for this considering the high price. meanwhile Eureka are chasing their own tail, there are superior alternatives such as DF64 and others
I'm starting to dislike Eureka. So many variations of seemingly THE SAME GRINDERS with slight tweaks. They're VERY late to the game in the already over-saturated single dose market. Finally they have an upgraded dial after people have been complaining for years about their adjustment system, people have already come up with 3d printed and 3rd party solutions to that. I had a Specialita I used to like, but only realized how much flavour clarity I was missing when I got a DF64 to compare it with. Although I did end up losing a lot of body as a result with the DF64, I never paid much attention to body, but noticed it when it was missing! I thought the Eureka Oro Single Dose would be an improved DF64 but nope it was disappointing with a bellows system that didn't work, it clogged up too easy with just about 0.5g retention somehow. Seems like the Single Dose PRO is an upgrade to that grinder hopefully they fixed that issue on it, the upgraded dial and different burr type is the main difference otherwise. BUT What are the new burrs like in comparison to their old burrs?
At least the Zero 65 AP has crazy retention. Supposedly its .2g, but Ive seen retention up to 2g and even the bellows don't always work to dislodge the retained grounds. Dialing in is flaky as well. Turning the grind size adjustment does not really seem to correlate with anything.
Thanks for the video Tom. Lovely to see (and hear) Silvia again 😊

"Pure diamond burrs" She says, when the sign next to her says diamond inside. That Grinder would cost 250k if it was pure diamond
I concur. She has the greatest English language voice Inhave ever heard.
Came to say the same thing. Charming is the right word. Thanks Tom for sharing this live demo.
@@DuBstep115I laughed when she pronounced “achieve” as akiv.
I am still debating this and df64. Any thoughts?
Thanks Tom.
Do you have any suggestions for cleaning agents for grinders, Coffee machines back flushing and descaling, milk wand cleaning products?
Eureka literally went of Etsy and looked at the mods people had made for their products, added them and slapped $200 extra.
Taking the price aside, at least they listen to customer demand. That's great!

@@DENIEL1908 These were pre-production models, dich I said in the video. Cheers!
Looks like they finally addressed most of issues with Mignon series. Not sure why they decided to make only one burr blind and the other with screws🤨
