    • @JoshRichBJJ
      @JoshRichBJJ  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah once someone has a deep double it’s hard to stop. I would recommend doing some rounds where you focus on having your head lower than your partner. This makes them have to go lower to double you and gives you more time to sprawl

    • @PrometheanRising

      They literally made us practice spawling in wrestling practice for like half of practice one day. Everyone got better. When I say practice, I mean we sprawled like 10x a minute for an hour and a half. It was teh suck.

    If Gordon Ryan is getting recurring "stomach issues" its because he's probably "stacking steroids" and it's catching up to him. Ask Brock Lesner who had to have a part of his colon removed. These stomach side effects along with the counterintuitive "baby testicles" "bitch tits" and "feminine ways" and "bitchiness" of these dudes are all well documented side effects. If your're young you simply don't need them you have enough Test naturally. Older guys maybe tested for HRT but the stacking stuff you will pay for one way or another look at any old wrestler or football player post stacking multiple roids. None of them look real good they all mainly looked prematurely aged. Hope you are well Josh and always enjoy your content!

    TO be fair trials in US was wrestling dominated but not in European trials. A lot more technical BJJ imo. US trials for ADCC was kinda boring to watch, 6 min collar ties is boring.

      What I learned from dancing as I got older and my body started getting beat up is to spend a lot of time watching tape before I tried to execute anything. Basically to build a mental map of what I need to do so that I thoroughly understand how my body is supposed to move before going out and trying to execute the movement. Then, once I did that I would slowly work on adjusting my mental map to fit what I was learning by trying to move my body. I wish I would have learned to do this when I was younger, but it still added years to my ability to make the required movements. Bad execution promotes injury and reduces longevity in basically all movement based activities. Even something as 'simple' as walking.

    injury rate is high in jiujitsu. a lot of moves are risky. what that coach did was a bit much but it was an accident. i guess it sets the example if you are going to run classes and coach you can't do anything beyond the basics with beginners even if they are a hard roll as a beginner. there is pressure on the coach that once he rolls he has to tap his students in some places or he will lose students long term. i personally never cared because its about knowledge and most coaches are older. I hates the big dude who would come in thinking if he taps the old past prime retired from competition 145 lb coach it means anything.
    I personally think injury rate is so high this should be made very clear in the contract signed for the membership that if you get injured in class you can not sue and you have to be aware the sport even in casual practice comes with a high risk for serious injury or potentially injuring others seriously and that even if you do everything right in terms of injury prevention accidents happen.
    most jiujitsu athletes do no end up paralyzed but similar things have happened to high profile athletes in the sport so its not just at the beginner level where there is risk.
    Most jiujitsu athletes do end up with damaged nerves and disc issues in their spine and neck that lead to lots of issues. its not being paralyzed but for many over a life time of training the accumulation of damage is debilitating and ultimately crippling in old age for many.
    this is just the spine too. many end up with very serious joint injuries as well that sometimes even prevent walking/ running normal.
    Jiujitsu is an extreme sport that is terrible for the body. Many class structures have shifted away from even stopping up to blue belts from doing anything but drilling. many give you just a couple 5 min rolls a week and thats it. Student retention is very hard long term. Most end up with an accumulation of injuries by blue belt and dont see the point of pushing it further.
    its an effective martial art but its ultimately a stupid practice for the average person. if you got bank like joe rogan and access to whatever you need as you age then yolo, go for it. do whatever you want. if you dont then dont bother. that guy talks like everyone needs to train but ignores all the surgeries and procedures he has done, hes on trt hgh and other peptides, he just has access to it all for recovery and injury prevention and his body is still a bit fucked despite all that.
    if the situation is really life or death you need to learn to use a weapon and learn to distance and escape. jiujitsu will always be stupid in practice for average people. even the athletes if you aren't the top 1% there is no money in it. there is middle aged disability.
