  • The husband of a former subpostmistress who was wrongfully jailed while pregnant has rejected an apology by the man in charge of the post office at the time.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Davinder Misra told this programme those in charge should ‘beg for forgiveness’ for the miscarriage of justice that saw his wife Seema convicted.
At the inquiry today David Smith apologised for the upset and anger he had caused the family in an email describing events that led to her conviction as ‘brilliant news.’

She was pregnant when they sent her to jail?! On her child's birthday? She gave birth wearing an ankle monitor?
That is disgusting cruelty, even if she was guilty. Why not suspend the sentence? She didn't kill anyone!
For God's sake pay those people!! That is unimaginable trauma caused by someone else's incompetence. This is horrific, I'm heartbroken for her.

When you convict over 700 people for YOUR failings an apology is not good enough. The contempt and disregard shown to people with impunity and unaccountability is beyond apology. You had sufficient time to consider this is wrong and yet you continued to prosecute innocent people.
Sorry for what? Getting caught? The shame?
There can be no sincere apology for destroying people's lives on such a grand scale.

The people jailed should be compensated and the combined sentences of those wrongfully sentenced when those in charge knew should be combined and handed down to those who were in charge. To watch people’s lives be destroyed because you don’t want to own mistakes is unacceptable. If those in charge don’t end up in jail, when other have already served time, then you know that the system cares only about one group of people and will tread on all others. I wonder what will happen going forward.

To think of a 10-years-old kid coming back home to realize that he won't see his mom for a long time because she was sent to jail... It breaks my heart. Anyone who knew that there was a problem with Horizon and covered it up, helping to send that kid's innocent mom to jail, should be put in jail themselves.

This is how they do it , imagine someones numbers come up the system will then ignore that winner and disperse the winnings to as many people they can so lucky dips and the low tier prizes , and maybe sometimes they might go into the red , but they for sure will not create a millionaire , and some weeks they are in the green and sometimes in the red ,
Do you see what I'm getting at

    His body language looks bad.
There is no way he would not have known what was going on given the expenditure and where all the money they recieved from deception where was that entered.
Fujitsu and PO knew in the 1999 trial run of 300 post offices found glitches but started prosecuting.
While that continued for 16 years more so it looks like PO management knew they had got it wrong and kept covering up to keep the Post Offices reputation intact.
The amounts of money required to push prosecutions would have needed approval at the highest levels which would have to be scrutinized.
Smith just threw all his subordinates under the bus they did all this for years and years and no one up the ladder new a thing.
FUJITSU a Japanese company are expert's at covering up scandals as well.
In Japan corporates coverup scandals just like they have done in collusion with the PO.
Between management of both companies should be bankrupted to pay for the fraud they participated in.
Why should white collar criminals involved in a conspiracy defraud 100's of innocent people be given special treatment when completely innocent people had their lives and families completely ruined.
Smith walking around can't look anyone straight in the face.
Had to read his apology from a piece of paper which was more about negating his responsibility than a heart felt apology even his pathetic apology May have caused ffs it ruined peoples lives.
    And you knew something.

Utterly Sickening 🤢 🤮 This is NOT an apology. It is a smoke screen of repentance. In fact what he is attempting is to EXONERATE HIMSELF by alleging he had not been given the 'right shade of light' in which to examine facts and persons involved. There is even a hint that the real victims' fate has been over represented and dramatised.
The hypocrisy of his statement should be deconstructed and exposed point by point and he should spend much custodial time thinking about it.
