Fun Fact: the voice of this speech is the voice given to Commander Temer. For those who don't remember Commander Temer was the guy who sacrificed himself so to save the Klingon Ambassador in Turning Point so that the Romulan Republic could show that they weren't Tal Shiar. This just makes the speech all the more powerful.
What we knew, is gone. Our home, our lives. All that we were... Dust! Blasted across empty, heartless skies... But we live... Our legacy lives! Within every ship we fly, upon every world we touch! In our hearts, in yours... There will be challenge, you will know fear! But you will overcome! You will survive! And answer vengeance with blood! You will do as you must! Rule cannot be handed to the faithless! Our legacy cannot be lost to villains! Bury the past, to face the future! In enemies, find allies! There is no price we have not paid! No loss we have not felt! Our dead world! Our long suffering! These are not ends! We are not ended! For your crew, for your people, for this new home! We must face all doubt! We must break the strong who would destroy us! We must overcome the impossible! We must fight, against any, and all! We must, we will! For we are Romulan!
Picard takes place almost fifteen to ten years BEFORE this game - and shows the Romulan's facing massive infighting and political instability... ... ... Which we saw in the game as well :P
Of course it is. The Romulan storylines actually transition well into eachother. Not to mention the start. You don't lose a friend or a superior. No, you lose the colony you called home! All the friends you may have had there, dead, or worse, turned against you. Everyone you knew and loved is gone, with the sole exception being Tovan. Overall, the Romulans really had the most impact with their story. I mean, how can you top that?
What we knew, is gone. Our homes, our lives. All that we were... Dust! Blasted across harsh, empty skies. But we live... Our legacy lives! In every ship we fly, upon every world we touch! In our hearts, in yours... There will be challenges, you will know fear! But you will overcome! You will survive! And that is vengeance with blood! You do as you must! Rule cannot be handed to the faithless! Our legacy cannot be lost to villains! Bury the past, to face the future! And enemies, find allies! There is no price we have not paid! No loss we have not felt! Our dead world! Our long suffering! These are not ends! We are not ended! For your crew, for your people, for this new home! We must face all doubt! Break and storm who will destroy us! We must overcome the impossible! We must fight, against any, and all! We must, and we will! For we are Romulan!
Couldn't agree more. This game is simply fun - I don't play it to level up, I just play it for the simple fact that I have fun exploring the universe. Also the player-made missions are often a delight (haven't played many, but 2 of them were actually better than the official content). With Legacy of Romulus this will be an almost complete game and Star Trek experience. I played the closed and open beta, and it did deliver! Can't wait for tomorrow!
Demon Rebel It is. I really felt I was a romulan colonist running from the Tal Shiar and searching for the lost friends by the Elachi. It was a fantastic story.
I hate that IGN never reviewed LoR. They've still just got the review of when it first came out and was pretty shitty. It's an entirely different game now!
I never thought that I'd be playing a Star Trek game. The first time I tried it I had no idea what I was doing, got frustrated & quit.I never played a space combat game before. My bf suggested I give it another try & he walked me through everything. I'm glad I gave it a second chance because now, I quite enjoy it.
Good trailer, good direction, nicely framed and timed with the music and voiceover, but the audio mixing needs some work. Music needs to be louder, or the narrator just sounds overly dramatic.
spectre2183 Is it better than it was? I tried it at first but got bored of the continuous, "go here and shoot shit" mission. I heard there's proper exploration missions now. Is it good?
Rowan J Coleman it's still kinda go here and shoot shit but the story has gotten ALOT more interesting. exploration missions r still in the works i think. if anything thing u might wanna play it just for the unfolding of the story seeing as how there aint any trek tv series going on right now.
Romulans can be very emotional you just never see it because they are a secretive society. But amongst themselves they are passionately different from their Vulcan cousins.
Because they knew it's a pretty weak expansion? They're scrapping the bottom of the barrel as it is. With the wrap up of the Iconian storyline, they don't know where else to go story wise except more time crap.
Agents of Yesterday is not a real expansion, it's a mini Update in celebration of 50 years of star Trek, I'm pretty sure there will be more in the future, but that will take time.
AoY, is a hot mess compared to this expansion, it in my opinion the agents of yesterday does not have the heart of this expansion nor that of the Delta Recruit.
ya it is a lot of fun if you get in a good fleet. and with this new expansion they are adding a lot of great new features and putting a lot of emphasis on the new story's it is free to play i recommend giving it a try.
I too bought the game when it first came out.. It just wasn't polished enough to hold my attention beyond a few months play (mostly because I wanted to play as a Romulan with their ships). I tried being a Klingon but that was no where near engrossing. Then a few weeks ago I came back because of the expansion. WOW! The game truly rocks! Not perfect but it feels like Star Trek now and is fun.
This guy sounds like the one from Green Lantern the guy who thinks you're not worthy or something( i really don't remember the name). Also one of the most epic trailers and speeches i've seen. "I bow to no man,for i am Death."
New playable mini-faction , 1-30 lvl romulan episodes , 1-20lvl klingon episodes , cca 15 new romulan ships , 2 klingon ships, Nimbus III adventure zone , some episodes were remastered, do you need more?
Actually love this game... since I quite playing WoW, this has become my favorite MMO and I love their F2P model. Other developers should pay attention and learn how a FTP model can actually work without pissing off customers. With the community based forge missions and new content coming, this game looks to be around for awhile. I'd like updated graphics or an ENB mod for it though (if that's possible).
Why? In prime universe Fed not wants help same as JJuniverse. Read STO lore. This is the reason why Nero destroyed Vulcan. Spock saved that part of Galaxy but not Romulus coz he arrived too late. Vulcan Science academy made obstructions. You are wrong if you think, that vulcans are good guys...
Ok, I know this is one of the most asked questions on the internet, but is there a link to the music that plays in the trailer without the awesome and inspiring speech?
I know. I got off of it for six months because I got bored of the click and shoot style. I came back, tried legacy of Romulus, and am now addicted to it once more.
In a time when 90% of vulcans population was at war there arose a philosopher named Surak who preached the embrace of logic and the supressing of emotions like all new ideas there are always those who disagree which led to the rise of a vulcan named S'Task and his ideolgy that passion rules all Suraks followers called this group "Those who march under the raptors wings" they left vulcan and didnt have contact with vulcan for some 2 thousands years theis created a genetic drift ->
come on, game is good, has its flaws, like all major MMO games, when you have 1.5 million ppl playing one of the biggest MMOs out there, than you'll always have issues, game is really good, has good graphics, loads of missions to do and if you're part of a good fleet than you should be in good position to get latest and best gear out there. Fleet I'm in is a level 20 fleet with loads of active players, Perhaps you had bad experience in a smaller or inactive fleet ?
Romulans was the people who separated from Vulcans and wants to keep their freedom of emotions. Romulans didn't like Vulcan's thought control ideology.
Picard takes place almost fifteen to ten years BEFORE this game - and shows the Romulan's facing massive infighting and political instability... ... ... Which we saw in the game as well :P

FOR THE REPUBLIC!
Proud to be a Romulan!
Now *that* is an inspirational speech.
Dang. I'm glad I'm not the only one
I not only get chills hearing it but I tear up a little hearing it. Because you can feel the sorrow and loss in it as much as the strive for hope.
Its been a few years and every now and than I still come back to this and every single time it gives me goosebumps. I frickin love this
Best faction storyline for sure.
You can feel the passion in it.
"We! Are! Romulan!" (Kicks an Elachi into a pit)
How about a Tal Shiar guy getting knocked into a pit!?
2021 still come back to this to get pumped.
This is the best Star Trek Online trailer.
+william 04467 This and the Free-to-Play trailer are both amazing.
I know its free to play but this is my favorite Star Trek Online trailer.
william 04467
No, the Free-to-Play trailer. It's a separate video. It's like this for the Federation.
I know there different.
At the time it was. Now i would say Victory is life and Legacy
Robul Actually, it's "And answer vengeance with blood".
RED Soldier Thanks, I'll edit.
We who picked alien
Uhhhh yey
Just watched this trailer for the first time and damn, I love it
I just want to say that this is the vision of Romulans that I want to see guiding the writing in the new Picard series.
Picard takes place almost fifteen to ten years BEFORE this game - and shows the Romulan's facing massive infighting and political instability... ... ...
Which we saw in the game as well :P
This is what the Romulans should have been at its core with Picard.
Gives me the chills every time
“You will know fear...but you will overcome. You will survive, and answer vengeance with blood!”
The romulan storyline is, to me, more compelling than the other two
Of course it is. The Romulan storylines actually transition well into eachother. Not to mention the start. You don't lose a friend or a superior. No, you lose the colony you called home! All the friends you may have had there, dead, or worse, turned against you. Everyone you knew and loved is gone, with the sole exception being Tovan.

36 Dislikes? I blame Cardassian's!
*****
Federation imperial propaganda.
Cardassians? More like Kardashians
:))
Donald Clinton 2020 Ha, funny.
Damn the federation, and there klingon dogs.
This trailer is why the Romulans are my favorite species in STO.
The Romulan are my favourite space elves
Couldn't agree more. This game is simply fun - I don't play it to level up, I just play it for the simple fact that I have fun exploring the universe. This intro just reminds me of why the Romulans are my favorite faction of Star Trek.
This is the best trailer out of all the trailers...
The romulen story line in my opinion is the best story in sto
Demon Rebel It is. I really felt I was a romulan colonist running from the Tal Shiar and searching for the lost friends by the Elachi. It was a fantastic story.
Years later, it still is.
This is a great speech, put to great music, over great in-game footage.
Great job with this trailer and this whole expansion, Cryptic.
I hate that IGN never reviewed LoR. They've still just got the review of when it first came out and was pretty shitty. It's an entirely different game now!
agreed.
Certainly come a long way since release though. Especially now with the Delta Rising pack out.
Only thing left is to make the cardassians playable.(the borg and undine probaly won't be made one, their overpowered)
573 romulans and 38 Tal shiars.....
No....no they are not.
Srithor if the talk shiar are romulan they wouldn't experiment with borg tech now would the
U forget the remans dammit
I never thought that I'd be playing a Star Trek game. Ladies and gentlemen: the Award for most inspirational speech in Star Trek history goes to the Romulan Republic!
Do people still play Star Trek Online?
Rowan J Coleman yup still playin it
spectre2183 Is it better than it was? I tried it at first but got bored of the continuous, "go here and shoot shit" mission. I heard there's proper exploration missions now. Is it good?
Rowan J Coleman it's still kinda go here and shoot shit but the story has gotten ALOT more interesting. exploration missions r still in the works i think. if anything thing u might wanna play it just for the unfolding of the story seeing as how there aint any trek tv series going on right now.
Rowan J Coleman actually if u plan on gettin back into the game now's a good time to do it with the event that going on right now.
spectre2183 I might just do that. Will be difficult though starting from level 1. I deleted my original account.
I love this, the Iconians blow up Romulus and all it did was piss them off.
+elsydeon666 Mhmn
+elsydeon666 and cause a civil war. FOR THE ROMULAN REPUBLIC!
For The Romulan Republic! Death to the Tal Shiar!Up with D'Tan,and down with Sela!
Daaaaaamn, give this guy more voice over work, mo fo knows how to get people pumped.
Romulans can be very emotional you just never see it because they are a secretive society. But amongst themselves they are passionately different from their Vulcan cousins.
And that speech was epic....
who is a romulan here! I am
Me too!
Well...despite my Romulan character being Human (read: Alien), that is...
My question is why is there no trailer like this for Agents of Yesterday.
This thing still gives me the shivers. If we had a leader like D'Tan the whole world would follow him into hell.
I Know I would!
Probably one the best game speeches I've heard.
ya it is a lot of fun if you get in a good fleet. and with this new expansion they are adding a lot of great new features and putting a lot of emphasis on the new story's it is free to play i recommend giving it a try.

Not perfect but it feels like Star Trek now and is fun.
Still gives me goosebumps!
Me too :D
it follows the original canon, and takes place about 30 years after Star Trek: Nemesis
there are actually fare more people playing it since it went free to play at the beginning of 2012. and it came out in February 2010 i believe.
Long live the Empire!
FOR THE REPUBLIC!!
This just swept me off my feet.
This guy sounds like the one from Green Lantern the guy who thinks you're not worthy or something( i really don't remember the name).
Also one of the most epic trailers and speeches i've seen.

i have never played star trek online.. but this looks AMAZING
Lol remember I remember when you couldn't be a klingon or romulan...good old classic STO,Amazing how far is has gone
More preferable than the JJ Abrams Continuity!
Not many as WoW but still 2 million aprox, we can't complain, can't wait for the PvP revamp 4 weeks after LoR expansion, it's gonna be awesome!
Couldn't have said it better.. I'm a level 50 Fed and level 28 KDF Commander.
Good Speech, Stirs the (green) blood !
Break out the Romulan Ale.
too bad everyone calls the remans Romulan too. Even D'tan says "Never forget you are Romulan".
imo you could've done "ROMULAN" a bit better
long life ROMULUS!!
Same with me :). Great game - no doubt about it. At the moment for me this is the best MMO out there.
0:59 Did that explosion OUTSIDE of that ship just clip into the INSIDE of the ship!? O.o
Who narrated that intro? Was it D'Tan? Completely it does not fit the fiery speech to him. Maybe admiral Kerekek?
Shane Mitchell Confirmed. It is Temer.
Tovan! what does the scouter say about his queue position!
IT'S OVER 9000!!!
what does he say at 0:35 after you will survive? ...that sentence with vengeance
...and answer vengeance with blood...
Probably no , but it is fun , that in STO is Emergency Medical Hologram voiced over by Zachary Quinto :)
It's free to play now. There's no such thing as inactive accounts
I bought this game a year ago, it's still in it's retail packaging
An ad before an ad lol
ie - Federation Captains
One thing i dont like about STO official trailers and teasers is any and all beam weaponry has the phaser sound effect
Ok, I know this is one of the most asked questions on the internet, but is there a link to the music that plays in the trailer without the awesome and inspiring speech?
I wana know what song this is, it makes the trailer so perfect.
everyday i watch this before playng sto fuckin awesome speech! hahahahaha!
Fedorahatter Fun is irrelevant.
You will be Borg.
I do occasionally.
I know. I got off of it for six months because I got bored of the click and shoot style. I came back, tried legacy of Romulus, and am now addicted to it once more.
Sela... Correct me if im wrong, it has been many years, but isnt she Tasha Yar's half human daughter?
Comparing Romulans to Dark Elves is a bit like comparing Vulcans to Elves.
The similarities are only skin deep.
Its a free update for everyone. Like an EVE Online expansion.
'' We must fight, against any and all, we must, we will, for We Are Romulans!
What is the background music called?
...we will not go quietly into the night! we are going to live on! today we celebrate our Independence day!
I dunno what is it your standard but this game was awarded by best free2play game 2012
If you're a legacy subscriber do you get this for free?
Quite the monologue
It's a F2P MMO and the space combat is actually very fun
come on, game is good, has its flaws, like all major MMO games, when you have 1.5 million ppl playing one of the biggest MMOs out there, than you'll always have issues, game is really good, has good graphics, loads of missions to do and if you're part of a good fleet than you should be in good position to get latest and best gear out there. Fleet I'm in is a level 20 fleet with loads of active players,
Perhaps you had bad experience in a smaller or inactive fleet ?
Why say that? The servers from what I understand are almost always full.
The new movies are set back in time
The Tal Shiar and the Romylan military lead by Sela is, C'Tan leads the peaceful Romulan Republic.
Romulans was the people who separated from Vulcans and wants to keep their freedom of emotions.
Romulans didn't like Vulcan's thought control ideology.
Romulans are not Vulcans :)
This Tuesday!
And then Picard happened -_-
In my opinion This game is more canon then that
Picard takes place almost fifteen to ten years BEFORE this game - and shows the Romulan's facing massive infighting and political instability... ... ...
Which we saw in the game as well :P
WE. ARE. ROMULAN!!!!!!
I completely forgot this game even was even out there.
Romulans was from Vulcans i.e. same species.
is the game itself any good?
Star Trek Online is following the prime universe, not the abramsverse, if that's what you mean.
Awesome update!! Game has evolved A LOT since last time i checked it!
having lots of fun now :)
I knew there was one game that came out, haven't got to it yet. I just thought because IGN just uploaded this it might be something new. Either way I think I'll still pass, since when were Romulans this emotional?
It sounds a bit like the independence day speech
