    I've been uploading designs for a year, while watching Sarah's videos. I sold nothing for almost all of that year. But as Sarah's influence has rubbed off on me, I remained committed and persistent and in the last four weeks, I've sold four t-shirts and one facemask.
    Humble beginnings I know, but it's a real buzz receiving that 'sale' email.
    I am very pleased to give credit to Sarah, for her teachings.

    At my school, we have this micro business fair where the junior class has to create a micro business, we were 14 in my class so it was on duos, this was back in 2017. I've always did drawings like the one on my profile pic, and I wanted something where I could use that yet make sure people would like it, that's when I thought of customizable mugs. I live in Argentina and at least on 2017 there weren't any POD sites, so I bought some mugs markers and my friend would make the mugs with words and I would make the ones with drawing. The fair takes place for just 1 hour and it's just for the High school students, not middle class or elementary. That only hour we sold 40 mugs! and we got 40 more mugs orders (our teacher let us took the order but we had one week to deliver them or it wouldn't count as part of the fair). We were the duo that not only sold the most product but also made the most profit. In pesos, each mug cost $40 and we sold them for $120 each and we had some promotions like 3x2 or 20C% off if you buy 2. I know for a fact mugs do sale but bc I don't wanna hand draw them anymore lol, I want to try POD. Thanks!

    One thing you forgot to take into account is Etsy listing fees. You pay to list and even if you don't sell it still costs you a fee. This catches many people out and you need to tell everyone about this before they go gun-ho listing on Etsy.

    Hi Sarah. I am a printer by trade and have all the machines for printing mugs and t-shirts etc. Although the process is relatively simple in theory, there are often problems during production. With the inevitable failed prints, wasted materials, plus the time involved in producing, packing, and shipping, it's far easier and more profitable to use a Print on Demand service. Plus I can spend the time saved for designing and selling products.
    Since discovering POD from your videos, I haven't used my machines for almost 2 years.

    Thank you Sarah! Looking forward to the next live Q&A. What about AOP Hoodies/Sweatshirts? The price of hoodies forces me to sell them for $70 to cover expenses and make barely any profit. Are these items even worth running paid ads to? They're quite difficult to sell at such high prices!

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  3 года назад +4

      AOP clothing is not my expertise, but yes to be able to run paid ads to it, it's definitely expensive, but I've seen lots of AOP hoodies sell via FB ads for much more than $70, more like $80+. With AOP clothing, you need to put a lot of work into create an amazing design that elevates you from the low-price point, and instead puts you in the lower mid-tier pricing point. Price is entirely subjective, if you study the stores that do sell their hoodies for that price, and present yourself like they do, then you can sell at that price too: ruclips.net/video/JL3njtFTRG4/видео.html 🌞

    For me, personalized items aren’t passive enough passive income. I know they work; a major catalog company - Lillian Vernon, back in the 60s - got started with one item: a handbag with people’s initials on them. Mail order. She ran one tiny ad in a highbrow magazine. Ended up making a fortune. And that was before the internet. So this stuff will sell. But I don’t want to have to deal with Fivver, other people’s mistakes, etc. But I can make up funny sayings, so will give that a try. Thanks!

    I like to be in control, I do all the art on my mugs I have 4 presses 2000k mugs ready to be cooked I have the cardboard I deliver them etc etc With your methods you can do more bulk but I like to be in control of everything including the issues. I do them overnight or early in the morning. And from 9 to 4pm I do stock market options. In the meantime I work 2.30pm to 12am and I have 2 kids a 3 year old and a 4 year old. Whoever is not rich is because they don't want to be rich.

    If you use Bazaart, instead of Canva, it will cut out the picture for you using the “magic” button... so you can save money by not hiring a graphic designer on Fiverr. Worth knowing about. I used to use Canva, but I’m totally obsessed with Bazaart now. So user friendly! You should know about it! Thanks for these great videos!

    I don’t really get how people do the customization with print on demand… Does that mean for every order they need to go in and do it themselves? Or is there a way for it to be automatic?

    Another great video Sarah! Do you have any tips on managing the process itself. For example, if you were getting 25 orders a day, how would you manage the process of outsourcing the design work, putting together the canva, uploading to printful? Do you use a SAAS to help you? Or a VA? What documents/spreadsheets do you use internally to manage the process?

    I am stuck on how I can use Shopify with a POD app and create listings on Etsy so that everything integrates and syncs nicely.
    Do you have a recommendation or a video that explains this in detail?

    What I would like to know is how you put a design on a mug mockup. Wallart and even tshirt designs are just laid down flat, but mugs are curved. Is there an option on Canva to give the design a curved effect? Anyone who wants to sell mugs needs to know, because otherwise they can't show their samples on their store.

    Thanks for doing this video! So if you were using POD for this someone would have to work each order individually and submit it to Printify one at a time? That seems very time consuming especially at a volume anywhere close to this kind of profit. Is there no way integrate the process?

    A little unrelated but last year I started my first Fiverr page, and after 6 months of nothing I finally got my first sale. Since then, I have made nearly $200 off of Fiverr and I continue to get new customers almost every month! As of more recently, I have discovered your channel and applied a lot of your strategies to my Fiverr business and since then my sales have increased exponentially! Keep up the videos!

    I have an issue with etsy where everyone is competing for low price and i know in many ways that's inexperience and people trying to stay humble and approachable.. But have you looked at inflation and the cost of living lately? People need to raise their prices in my humble opinion... Fighting for low price is not something I'm willing to do but i do original art and I don't necessarily want everyone to have it... It's got to be worth the effort or I'm better off just working for someone else... This competing for low price thing will break us all and speaks to a desprate for sales type shop owner! Like do we not value ourselves and our offering any more than that? QUIT COMPETING FOR LOW PRICE!

    I love how people are getting into Print On Demand. Because they are, the typical price for T-Shirts and Mugs is really high, for the profit margins are so poor that people have to sell them for a lot to make money. $30 for a T-shirt used to be insane and now it is becoming the norm. Best time to start your own Print Shop and have complete control. Macklemore said it was crazy to buy a T-shirt for $50, yet I think a $30 Gilden is even worse, as quality with Print on Demand is Hit Or Miss. This year I will make some money.

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  3 года назад

      A Gildan t-shirt costs $6 from Printify with a Printify subscription. No one needs to sell a Gildan t-shirt for $30 to make a profit 😅😜 but then again, most people under price their items anyway: ruclips.net/video/JL3njtFTRG4/видео.html

      @@WholesaleTed T-shirts are the item that Print on Demand benefits the most, as there are too many styles, colors and sizes to keep in stock.
      The cost of stocking blanks would be very high to be able to offer customers such a grand variety.
      Most other items don't require you to stock different sizes, therefor making the profit margins even bigger than a Giden T-shirt, which you can get for $1-$2 dollars.
      For example, Tapestry. They charge $30-$40 dollars for something that you can make for under $5 with the right equipment.
      Anyone who intends to sell a ton of Merch, should consider starting their own Print Shop. The equipment is really not that much money and getting to the point where you would pay off all the equipment with the extra profits you would be making is not that far a journey.
      RUclipsrs who sell Merch all year could be giving away hundreds of thousands of dollars to a company, when with a little time and planning, you can hire a few employees and expand, evolve and prosper.
      Bottom line is if you can make a million dollars a year with Print on Demand, there is no doubt in my mind that the same person can make two million dollars a year, controlling their own printing.
      It will take more time initially, yet for the rest of the life of the business, profit margins will be much bigger.

      @@hatsdotcam1139 I'd much rather spend an extra $3-4 a t-shirt to just have the entire process automated for me 😉 but each to their own! ruclips.net/video/JL3njtFTRG4/видео.html
