Hipshot trem setter or Tremmory? I have been using hipshot for a little over 20 yrs. Looking to experiment with different trem stabilizers. I came here and I liked what I saw and heard. You thought?
Couldn’t have posted this at a better time my friend... I have been obsessing over these ‘tremsetters’ for the past couple weeks. I dont use a Floyd too often because I can’t stand when everything goes out of tune while heavy bending and especially unison bends... has this fixed this issue for you? I often wonder how professionals got past that issue in the past, because compensating by pushing the bridge down while bending just doesn’t seem very effective. Like another commenter mentioned, is this only an issue with cheaper/licensed Floyd’s? Or do higher end Floyds have this issue as well?
A B Cars N’ Guitars the higher end ones do as well. I only use German Floyds, and while I don’t generally have tuning issues after using the bar, you’re absolutely right that you’re fighting against the bar going down while raising the pitch of the string. A lot of the guys that popularized Floyd Rose guitars in the 80s had dive only setups (George Lynch, Warren Di Martini, even Eddie Van Halen). You can set those up to not move when you bend, but the only way to do that with a full floating Floyd is with a stabilizer.
Bryce VanHoosen awesome answer my friend, thank you very much for the reply. I actually made the Floyd on my Kelly drop only and I actually really like, but it can be a bit of a hinderance. My only other question is does the stabilizer make a large noticeable difference in the bars response? Like are you cranking on the bar now to get it to move, along with it snapping back into place when you release it? Or is it still pretty smooth?
Bryce VanHoosen do you think it’s something you will get used to? Do you plan to keep it? And ‘tuning issues’ gone? Sorry for all the questions man, these things aren’t cheap and I’m right on the fence as far as buying one. I appreciate your replies!
A B Cars N’ Guitars yeah I definitely plan to keep it! No tuning issues or any issues really. 3 months later and I haven’t had to adjust it at all hahaha
Great review. Yeah I was kinda confused, because even for the smallest Termmory im missing like 10mm from claw to trem-block. Ill probably just get the small-version and some lighter springs. One question: is the Tremmory itself providing spring tension, so you replace one spring, or do you add the tremmory to the current spring setup - tension wise?
wait hold on.. so with only just the stabilizer and a couple of extra springs, i can dive bomb and bend with my frethand without the other strings go out of tune? cus this has been a major problem for with floyd rose. someone please tell me i'm right cus im a enjoy the occasional divebombs and bending my strings (which i always do).
I think yes? Bends will be easier since you won’t be fighting the bridge going lower while bending. You can also just block the bridge and make it dive only, then tighten the springs so the bridge doesn’t move when you bend.
my floyd tends to pull the strings sharp when i use it, would this help with that? i'e does the tremmory just stop the bridge from pulling out of zero both ways or just in the way that would make it go flat?
Do you think that the Tremmory when activated creates an effect similar to that of the Evertune bridge in terms of tightening the sound a bit preventing you from going sharp when it stabilizes the micro detunes and in this way by activating or deactivating the Tremmory you can have different sounds for different needs?
How does it work in the case of breaking a string? Does everything else stay in tune? And how do you do drop tunings live? Do you just break the nut loose and re-tune the low E really quick?
Andrew van Leeuwen I haven’t tried it, but I think it’ll still go a few cents out of tune depending on which string you break - I think you could finish a song without the audience noticing though. And to drop tune, same idea as the D-Tuna - I just screw the low E fine tuner in almost all the way, tune to E, and lock the nut. I can then back the fine tuner out a full step as needed.
so when you tuned your D down to C you didnt have to adjust anything else? you just opened the locking nut, tuned down to C, closed the locking nut and thats that? also, does flutter still work with a stabilizer in? (oh sorry you said that at the end i was commenting too quickly)
Even easier than that! I just use the fine tuner to go from D to C. I turn it like 90% of the way in with the nut open, tune to D, then lock it. From there, I can back the fine tuner out until I’m at C or tighten it again to go back to D. Super easy to do during a show!
Hello, I just got my tremmory I was wondering what pressure spring you use? It comes with another spring that says its for harder use, do you use that one or the regular one?
thanx for the review. very thorough. 1 question though. i couldn’t tell if you had to actually screw anything in to the cavity. do you just install it like a regular trem spring or do you have to put screws into your guitar ? thanx. awesome playing btw.
Thanks for getting back to me, I ended up going with the ESP arming adjuster, just because I couldn’t bring myself to order one of these all the way from Germany

how is yours working out? just got mine today and installed. i can see improvement, but strings still go slightly out of tune when switching between standard and drop d. i'm not using a floyd tho, just a floating gotoh. are you experiencing the same?
@@jd7613 first off, I’d try the heavier spring they include. My experience with drop tuning was pretty bad before I switched it to that. Secondly, you’ll still have to do ever so slight adjustments on the other strings to get it in tune with itself. I notice this with TOM bridges too - it’s like everything shifts because there’s suddenly less pull on the neck. But once you’re set and fully tuned, you’re good to go.
I was in doubt about the measure. The distance from the grip to the block measures 83mm. Does size S reach this measurement? I was afraid to buy the larger size and in the future I would need to reduce the distance from the block to the claw and lose the unit.
I’d straighten all 3 and add the Tremmory. Just make sure you got as much range of motion as you want and can go up and down as much as you can without it.

This is so cool! Q: So u can drop tune the Low E without having to take out a screwdriver and adjust the springs in back , and block the bridge to drop it? Just open the nut and drop it just like that?
I know this won't answer your question, but I think you can simply block the bridge and down tune the E string without having to adjust the spring tension afterwards. It shouldn't make that much of a difference
@@bvanhoosen I guess I have to screw the claw plate in further back to create atleast a 71-mm distance. Then, remove 1 spring? I thought Tremmory doesn't add tension with the current springs?
Your bridge certainly would be more stable. But at that point, I wonder if going the down only route or getting a fixed bridge guitar would be more what you’re looking for?
I have the Tremmory in 3 guitars and the Mag-Lok in two others. I'd say the Tremmory is superior but if you want to save a few bucks and don't mind a few holes in your trem cavity then the Mag-Lok works great too.
@@bvanhoosen Go for it, they're pretty cool. I kind of like how the magnet pulls the bridge back into place. If you get the positioning just right you can drop the E string, do full step bends without the other strings going flat; granted I'm using 9-46 in standard and 10-52 on half step. I don't really play D tuning except for Crüe songs but I do 11-49 on that guitar but no Drop C for me. Maybe I should look into a drop C string set but I only use Elixir so.. 🤷

If you’re changing the whole tuning of the guitar, you’re going to want to re-intonate anyway. I’d do this on a TOM too - that’s such a big change that there’s no way your guitar will sound intonated. You could maybe do it on the fly with a Tremmory, but idk, I’d still just use another guitar.
@@bvanhoosen Wow. Thanks for fast reply. Also, I have a Jackson Soloist. Which spring out of the three in the cavity do I replace with the Tremmory? Likely middle one, yes? Also which size Tremmory do I get?
Yooo dude, i've been meaning to ask. I know you're a Floyd guy all around, but have you heard of the Sophia trems? If so, what do you think of them? Sophia have a RUclips channel too demonstrating how the trems work if you're wanting to check those out too! I can try to link you one of them as well!

@@bvanhoosen so when it is disabled, the tremory works as a normal spring ? For example if I have 3 springs in my guitar, do I have to remove one spring to install the tremory or I only have to install the tremory in addition to my 3 springs ?
Angelo Neri I’m not sure I understand your question. It makes string changes easier. But you should still change 1 string at a time and use the same gauge and tuning, otherwise you’ll have to readjust.

I have both. But my tremmory comes from a guy in Russia who sent my pics of the patent on this. His uses a slotted screw and I got two for like $92. That being said it's identical to this one. The Floyd had to be screwed in. The tremmory needs no mods etc. The Floyd rose tremendous is adjustable the tremmory is not. My two tremmory's are hard and I have two soft on the way. As far as keeping my guitars in tune...... They are equal good. Right now I have the Floyd tremendous set extremely soft. With two springs on a 6 post bridge with locking tuners. I can do trills with the bridge, it prevents my palm from pushing down and making the guitar go sharp and even though it's set to be soft.... It still returns the bridge back to zero. I will also add. When I had the Floyd tremendous set hard I could remove the strings, clean neck and frets then put on new strings without blocking the bridge and it literally returned to zero. The Floyd does have some extra pluses.
Unfortunately not, you cannot flutter with any trem stabilizer since they all introduce a 'zero' point. But, if you undo the little set screw, you can still flutter - you just wont be stabilized anymore.

Hipshot trem setter or Tremmory? I have been using hipshot for a little over 20 yrs. Looking to experiment with different trem stabilizers. I came here and I liked what I saw and heard. You thought?
Haven’t used the Hipshot, but definitely an advantage of the Tremmory is you don’t have to drill anything or add a new screw hole.
Thanks! Very informative. I think this is what I’ve been looking for.
A B Cars N’ Guitars it’s still pretty smooth, but it is a bit more stiff - I have to move it with intention now.
You had a string break yet? I did and it did not fare well!
Haha! Yeah, depending on which one you break, your guitar could go quite out of tune.
Thanks for watching! No, the Tremmory doesn’t add any spring tension, so you’ll want to use it with your current spring setup
Awesome video! Man am I glad I found this! Looks like someone finally got it right!!!
wait what tunings can it do again?
wait hold on.. so with only just the stabilizer and a couple of extra springs, i can dive bomb and bend with my frethand without the other strings go out of tune?
cus this has been a major problem for with floyd rose. someone please tell me i'm right cus im a enjoy the occasional divebombs and bending my strings (which i always do).
Does that device work on synchronized tremolos? Or is it exclusive to Floyd Rose?
Nice, I have to get one of these. Great video, thanks!
Great video brother. Hey can you use a dtuna on this. Drop d.
Thanks

Hello, I just got my tremmory I was wondering what pressure spring you use? It comes with another spring that says its for harder use, do you use that one or the regular one?
Nvm I just re-watched and saw you are using the higher tension spring, thanks for the video!
Very nice ! does you ear a clicking zero point sound when you do a up/down trem vib ?
Yeah you can hear it a bit. It’s not something that gets amplified though (unlike with other trem setters)
Thanks for info.🎸
thanx for the review. very thorough. 1 question though. i couldn’t tell if you had to actually screw anything in to the cavity. do you just install it like a regular trem spring or do you have to put screws into your guitar ? thanx. awesome playing btw.
Nope, no screwing or alterations required whatsoever! It installs just like a regular spring.
Thanks for getting back to me, I ended up going with the ESP arming adjuster, just because I couldn’t bring myself to order one of these all the way from Germany

Awesome information man, for changing between drop a standard did you try the tone vast pitch shifter or the EVH D Tuna?
I’ve tried the D Tuna, but I prefer just turning the fine tuner all the way in, tuning to standard, and backing it out when I want to drop it down!
@@bvanhoosen nice solution, and for the strings do you buy to packages each time?
I want to apply the configuration 9-46 replacing the 46 for a 52
@@sebasguitar132 yeah I’ve done that. Gets expensive though. Now I just use Dunlop heavy core 10-48 for D standard/Drop C. Low string gets a little floppy, but it doesn’t sound bad.
@@bvanhoosen have you seen stringjoy? They make custom packs maybe it is cheaper that way. The company seem to try to create custom sets for drop or any tuning

how is yours working out? just got mine today and installed. i can see improvement, but strings still go slightly out of tune when switching between standard and drop d. i'm not using a floyd tho, just a floating gotoh. are you experiencing the same?
Haha Ratt rules! And that’s great man, glad it finally showed up!
@@bvanhoosen thanks! still got a lot of tinkering to do, it is only a few hours old!
Thanks so much man ! Really helpfull and, I'd say, reassuring. Cheers !
So does this allow you to easily go from drop to standard?
Yes! And vice-versa
I was in doubt about the measure. The distance from the grip to the block measures 83mm. Does size S reach this measurement? I was afraid to buy the larger size and in the future I would need to reduce the distance from the block to the claw and lose the unit.
I think small would work? But I'd ask the company. If you get large you can always cut it down (like I did)
Where do you get it? I can't find it anywhere.. Guitar Center, Reverb, Sweetwater???
CalitranoN link in description!
Thomann sells em too
Is this stabilizer good for us floyd rose rhythm players??
Yes! 100% it’ll make your life waaaay easier
It just arrived. My springs are setup in the v shape. Should I remove the middle one? Or straighten all 3 and add the tremmory?
I’d straighten all 3 and add the Tremmory. Just make sure you got as much range of motion as you want and can go up and down as much as you can without it.
I'm sold on this product, it should be here by the end of the week.
Very clear and helpful, thank you! Can you still do flutters with the tremmory unlocked?

If you do big bends on one string does it make all the strings go out of tune until you dive the bar like other floating trems? Great review.
Thank you! No, the guitar stays in tune even after big bends (because the bridge doesn't really move).
Yes! I just turn the fine tuner all the way in, tune to E, lock it, then back it out to D when I want to do drop tune stuff
What about while changing strings? Does this reduce string change tuning time, etc?
Yes, it absolutely does!
Can you do whammy flutters with the tremmory???
No, you cannot do flutters with any tremolo stabilizer, the Tremmory included
@@bvanhoosen I thought the same thing but this guy shows that you can with a Tremel-no at 4:03 ruclips.net/video/XV5c1q2Wkz4/видео.html
Hi.. just wondering.. How about using Tremmory in a 4-spring guitar with a claw-to-block length less than that of the smallest Tremmory available?
Unfortunately it won’t work. You need at least around 71mm for the pin thing to slide into the piston. I’d try using less springs or lighter springs.
@@bvanhoosen I guess I have to screw the claw plate in further back to create atleast a 71-mm distance. Then, remove 1 spring? I thought Tremmory doesn't add tension with the current springs?
@@bonznacario1185 it doesn’t add tension, but you’ll have to make sure you have enough room for the unit to fit
Oh man that is one bad ass Jackson!
So what happens if you put two of these on the same guitar? Would it allow more tuning changes?
Your bridge certainly would be more stable. But at that point, I wonder if going the down only route or getting a fixed bridge guitar would be more what you’re looking for?
What if you high e breaks? Does it stay in tune?
Yes it does! If you break a D or G string it might go slightly out though.
How did you cut yours?
With a Dremel sander 🤣 I don’t recommend it
I still don't get how does it work.
It’s basically just a spring loaded piston
I have the Tremmory in 3 guitars and the Mag-Lok in two others. I'd say the Tremmory is superior but if you want to save a few bucks and don't mind a few holes in your trem cavity then the Mag-Lok works great too.
Ah interesting! I’m a huge fan of Super Vee so I was definitely curious about that one! I should get one to compare

Can you do half step down tuning without having to set intonation etc?
If you’re changing the whole tuning of the guitar, you’re going to want to re-intonate anyway. I’d do this on a TOM too - that’s such a big change that there’s no way your guitar will sound intonated. You could maybe do it on the fly with a Tremmory, but idk, I’d still just use another guitar.

You can do flutters whit the tremmory instaled?
Agustín Ignacio Martinez you cannot do flutters with any tremolo stabilizer. If you want flutter, I would avoid all tremolo stabilizers.

Yeah totally! That’s what the set screw thing does. You can enable or disable it.
@@bvanhoosen so when it is disabled, the tremory works as a normal spring ? For example if I have 3 springs in my guitar, do I have to remove one spring to install the tremory or I only have to install the tremory in addition to my 3 springs ?

Thanks. Lot of Qs answered.
Can this be installed other than in place of the middle spring?
Hmm, that’s a good question! I haven’t actually tried that
Yes
Wich one do you prefer? the Trem-endus or Tremmory?
Can you do flutter with that accessory?
No. I’m pretty sure you can’t flutter with any trem stabilizer, it’s a trade off
Unfortunately not, you cannot flutter with any trem stabilizer since they all introduce a 'zero' point. But, if you undo the little set screw, you can still flutter - you just wont be stabilized anymore.
