Canadian here. The Opry was a capstone feature of my trip to Nashville with my (fellow guitar-lovin’) son. A week of live country music every moment of the day. And at night and the early morning, live in our hotel room-I brought a dobro and a banjo!!!🇨🇦
The David Crowder Band played at our church 12-15 years ago. I don't remember exactly, but they were a great band. I played in our church band, so I got to hang out with him for the whole day. We played guitar together for an hour or so. He is a super nice guy, and a great songwriter/musician.
Opened for Kentucky Head Hunters a while back. Also got invited to play at the Grand Ole Opry but got bumped two days before the show…. Sht happens….lol
@@TheGuitologist Man, with everything going on, it was awesome that you were able to get away for a while. Don't ever forget 'little' things like this, because when you are 15-20 years older, these moments will become big things in your memories.
Country music was huge in the 80s, I grew up in the country on a farm and had a love for those old country hits. Hank Williams, Hank Jr and now Hank 3 and Hank 4, it's amazing 4 generations of great music makers in one family. But I used to love watching hee haw. All them great pickers, gave me a love for country.

Charlie McCoy I used to listen to the 8 tracks in the back of the station wagon as a young kid. He is awesome, And I used to cover Dumas Walker back in the 90's and I'm a rock guy.
he was talking about hank jr in 90 - i saw that tour - they were great , but hank only made it thru the first verseof guitar man before he threw the thing down and stormed off stage . i was thinking he was more of a jim beam man that night .
What a cool experience, thanks for sharing Brad. I bet that was a surreal feeling walking backstage and around the corner there’s Ricky Skaggs and his bluegrass ensemble.
Hi Brad, I was there for this event sitting in the second row! Charlie McCoy (another train song, if you would!), Crowder (those Elves, though), KHH, and Ricky Skaggs - What a night. This is better than some documentaries. I love the way that everyone's family at the Opry!
I'm not a huge Country fan by any stretch, but the Headhunters at the Opry? I'd totally be down for that. And, was that Ricky Skaggs playing too? That's just a great bill.
Wow, the history of that place, the stage set up is fascinating, tilt backs for the amps, isolation walls and monitors for the back up singers. Stage volume is much lower, no in ear monitors here! W he at a trip…..thanks Brad!!😮

It certainly was. Hanging out on their bus there and back, talking about the Native American artifacts they’ve found on their property and stuff. Had a big ol time.
That was really cool! Never thought I'd see a Headhunter playing through a digital modeling amp onstage (fender deluxe tonemaster)??? That was weird.. Them and Georgia Satellites have put down some of the best vintage tube amp sounds (marshalls, fenders, hiwatts) ever on record.
I lived in Kentucky for five years after getting out of the Army at Fort Campbell, and my one regret is not making it to the Grand Ole Opry at least once before moving back to Texas.
