For the record, the UK changed PM:
Four times during the war in Afghanistan. Once during the Iraq War. Once during the Gulf War. Once in the Korean War. Once in the Second World. War. Once in the First World War. Once in the Second Boer War. Once in the Second Opium War. Once in the Crimean War. Twice in the Peninsular War. And we're not even fighting in this one.

It's not that difficult to stand by your beliefs really, not in a free democratic country, and standing up for your beliefs is supposed to be what politics is about.
MPs by and large are financially secure people who will have other career opportunities on hand after they resign. Clearly, standards have sunk so low that now we're patting people on the back because it's remarkable when they do the bare minimum of what we should expect regarding integrity.

It has come to a pretty pass when you have to rely on a Conservative peer to do the right thing on a matter of political ethics. It makes it all rather obvious that bodger's trip to Ukraine was more of a show to serve his own interests than those of millions of people suffering under a brutal dictator's onslaught. Immediate, real action, not gestures is what they need, and if saving your own skin is taking up all your attention instead, it's past time to stand aside for others more principled and more focused on the job in hand.

Look its NOT the actual offence, the party, or whatever - its the lies, the coverup. I seem to remember some time ago, a wife took the blame for a speeding offence, for the husband. She had to serve a short prison sentence when found out. So those who lie and try to cover up an offence, no matter how trivial, are perverting the course of justice. Hence should resign at the very least.

A justice minister who does not fully understand the rule of law ! This is worse than minsters who say do as I say and not as I do, it's a question of competence. Politicians of all political parties have always behaved like this. What is new ? You can forgive ministers who make a small indiscretion, but not incompetence. This is a minor fire being fanned into a fire storm by the media. Are we saying a prime minster who parks his car on a double red line should lose his position, but if I do it I just pay the fine ? That's how this case against Boris fails it's contary to the rule of law. I have only voted Labour and would never vote Tory, but the people of this country need to understand that they are being manipulated by the media who are, in effect, rewriting the Rule of Law. The consequence of that eventually is the media become your judge and jury and not the courts! I could sight cases where that has already happened.

So that´s the MET, and all politicians and civil servants who failed to report that they were aware of illegal parties, guilty of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
And a few will get a small fine.

Democracy in most Western countries is under serious strain with not public accountability and media owned by people who also own the politicians. but finally Bors Johnson was voted in by a majority of people who voted. That says a lot about this country as well.
