This made me realize why the original and other old horror games felt so eerie and unique. It's that lack of detail in the sky and the atmosphere. It makes you feel like you're in some dark void. Almost like you aren't on normal planet earth.

The idea of demaking a remake back into the original graphical style is kinda wild. Getting a game like this would be such an interesting way to experience the vibe of the original but with updated design and mechanics.
I never got into the mechanics of the old RE games, i was more into RE 4 than any of the older titles, but at the same time, i liked the atmosphere and feeling of the first 3 way more than RE 4, so this is an absolute win for me. I just hope this get mde into a full game someday.

It would have been possible to incorporated it as a prequel to Code Veronica. Hell we could have seen this released on the PS2, Dreamcast, GameCube and possibly Xbox. Nope only on PS and Asia managed to get a PC port of it and it wasn't still good. However, there's not much history of the game development or any documentary of it's making? Only newspaper and magazine clippings are floating out there online.
The original resident evil games and silent Hill games were like bread and butter. They were the epitome of survival horror. I would love to have games like those again
This feels like it got pulled straight out of an alternate universe where the OG game actually played and felt like this, just make the game run at 25-30 FPS and we're good haha. While I like this concept alot, the fix camera angles are what made the originals special. Taking that away, we might as well just be playing a PS1 graphics mod on all of the remakes. And yes, that's kind of what this video is and it is a very good and well made video, if this was playable I would play it, but just saying

What got me about the OG RE2 is hearing the zombies moans throughout the city in the background. Even when none were around. It really made you feel scared, alone, and surrounded by a city of horrors. You could roam Raccoon City in OG RE3, but it was eerily quiet except for the wind blowing.
whats crazy is we can do this to modern games that have an older fan base and it will sell big time. not as a full game obviously, but as a modern game made retro for nostalgic gamers.no matter how much we progress with video game technology, nostalgic gaming will catch up to any generation of gamers

Every time I play the old games vs the remakes there’s always so much ambient atmospheric details the new ones don’t have. Like the howling darkness and off in the distance the cries of the hordes of undead citizens. Really makes you feel like you are trapped in an infested urban hellscape. 2 and 3 remake are dead quiet when outside, the zombies snarl and screech like dinosaurs lol
For me resident evil 2 when it first came out and everyone from friends to family were all in on it, and the fact that I was certainly not looking games about zombie outbreak, resident evil 2 hit hard and hit differently. Especially in a time when I was piling up with demo cds and a few number of games that were full games and even those games were mostly me discovering the wonders of what the ps1 library of games had to offer especially from adventure games to fighting games were my primary targets .My collection usually consisted of which ever one rivalled our favourite daily cartoon action series to memorable action movies like the 90s and 2000 movie heroes to movies about martial arts. But resident evil 2 for started out like a regular zombie shooter to puzzle solving and then all out action especially with weapon upgrades. All that along with admirable voice acting from the characters and the characters overall from humans to monsters were all memorable, the narrative, environment design that eerily deserted, sound design to my favourite unforgettable game feature which is the ambient music score this game had to offer and that’s why I don’t consider myself a fan of the franchise because after the resident evil 3 following games just didn’t keep my hopes up even though I still played them.

Most backgrounds are pre-rendered. So you would have to create basically all the necesary models to reconstruct every single location.

This is how Resident Evil Gun Survivor should have been.
PS1 wouldn’t be able to handle it unfortunately. Gun Survivor looked worse than this and still had major performance issues.

If you switch the video to 240p and ignore the framerate way higher than it would be in an actual PS1, it is actually pretty convincing.
