Book? Oh. Speaking of conflating videos, I was about to comment if the Sci-Guys gave you the idea of how reading the transcript is more entertaining than listening to the episode, but then I realised that I was conflating that with a Debaters episode I had listened to the same day. edit: Have to see if I can get a hold of this one in Canada without it costing $97 after shipping and currency exchange.
Me too!! I completely remembered it as big brother on camera right, with Charlie out of view to the left biting the finger on an outstretched hand, and all of it happening in a car with baby seats and everything. I think this is the first Mandela effect that's really got me good.
@@faenethlorhalienthere’s plenty of brainrot in between ‘dank’ and ‘skibidi’. If he works through it in chronological order we have another 10 years before he gets to skibidi.
"The Potted Plant Phase" XD er... unfortunately nobody explained this to one of my kids, who was crawling backwards at 12 weeks old and running around by 10 months old.😱
I honestly thought it was going to be like "the kid threw a temper tantrum, put a hole in a wall and that hole revealed the house had termites" or something like that.
Am I remembering right that the "Charlie bit my finger" video takes place with the two siblings in a stroller/pram thing?? I really thought they were out and about, like at the zoo or somewhere! Maybe I'm just conflating that video and my memories of a similar personal anecdote 😅 now I gotta go look it up
Hank Green's experience with 1 year olds is not everyones. All 3 of my kids were walking by 9½ months old, so all 3 of my kids were running and getting into everything by 1
Initial thoughts: The "bad behaviour" was recorded and sent out to casting agencies, or performed while being in the presence of someone that had enough pull to cast him in. Charlie was then put into an "acting" role; a baby/toddler newfound star, if you may. And then the family moved to be closer to Hollywood or wherever they were filming/producing. Or, they were going through immigration, Charlie ruined the thing, they got refused entry into the country, and the family then had to find another house elsewhere. Maybe they already sold their old house, or couldn't go back to it anymore. 2007... That was during the big real-estate bubble that should have defaulted the banks, right? Maybe Charlie doctored/forged/invalidated some legal real-estate document(s), perhaps by adding a line (#1) to an address or checkbox on a form? Used him to scribble a "new genuine signature" so the parents could forge or "get him" a new house?
@@Archgeek0 Ah, I had done that but concluded 'Wenk' dismissing it. A revisit to that formula with slightly differing rules makes it obvious... thanks!
Have to disagree with Tom Scott on this one. "Dank" was a great line. Sure, it's straightforward word play, but unexpected and perfectly timed. Well done.
Didn’t it used to have banner ads? They popped up at the bottom ~10 seconds into the vid. And I think those used to pay out like 100 times more than they do now
I mean, Charlie only bit it because his brother put it in his mouth. I'm not exactly sure if that counts as bad behavior so much as poor judgement of his brother.
I would look up the video to confirm that CBMF really wasn't in a car, but I really don't fancy looking at a crying snotty little 1 year old, so I'll just take your word for it.
I'm actually surprised I knew this immediately. I heard 1 year old and Charlie with a British accent and my brain made the connection. Had this been asked my Hank idk if I would have made the connection.
They didn't use it to buy a house, they used it on private school education. They still live in the same house, or did in 2017 when they appeared on the 'This Morning' show in the UK. Search for "The 'Charlie Bit My Finger' Kids Are All Grown Up! | This Morning"

“As known together, Dank” got me properly laughing. So good hahaha
Especially with the producer being thankful that Dan wasn't called Wes.
Hank Green + Dan Peake = Dank Peen?
I love how Hank immediately gets it after Ceri says she considers it to be a Hank-thing to know.
As soon as I heard his name was Charlie I knew
@@FHL-Devils 1-year-old, "moment of bad behavior" and the years also helped me immediately get this
To be fair, could have also been "do you like the peanut butter, Charlie?" "A"
When Tom said "Dan and Hank", my brain immediately went "Dank". I feel so validated now :D
Ooh that's a fun mandela effect, I was also totally convinced that Charlie Bit My Finger was set in a car.
The is this real life was in a car.
David After Dentist was in a car.
I on the other hand was ready to jump in the comments to correct them before they corrected themselves lol

I have an image in my head of the boys being in a beanbag chair and now I have to check
"they really knock me outt" is Peake performance 😉
Low-hanging fruit is often the sweetest.
Great joke, and commenting for spoiler prevention 😁
I don't think I've ever heard Tom say dank until now
The brainrot is spreading. SEND HELP! Next week he's gonna start saying Skibidi.
@@faenethlorhalienthere’s plenty of brainrot in between ‘dank’ and ‘skibidi’. If he works through it in chronological order we have another 10 years before he gets to skibidi.
Judging by his reaction, I'm not sure he ever did say it until this video.
I think this is the second time Tom has said "dank" on camera
When was the first?
And it really hurt!

Banana tree.
@@RFC3514 best description ever 🤣
the joke density of this question (and the whole episode) was incredible. dare i say on the level of Bill and Dani, even.
I honestly thought it was going to be like "the kid threw a temper tantrum, put a hole in a wall and that hole revealed the house had termites" or something like that.
Look, if we're never going to get Tom Scott on Taskmaster (probably), can we at least get little Alex Horne on Lateral? Please?
How could Hank have missed this?
Yeah that really surprised me!
4:28 Seems like Hank knows about the video but he just didn't think of it. I think us, viewers of a RUclips video, had a slight advantage in context.
Because they were talking about it being in a car, which it wasn’t.
Charlie and 2007? This was very fast for me
You know you made it when you've become the answer to a trivia question. I hit the correct answer straight away...
I can't believe this took them longer than the time it took to hear the question!

Me: “1 year old… bad behavior… Charli- yep this is over before it even started.”
I really wish I could watch the whole podcast because this is much more enjoyable than listening
As I tell all my new parent friends they are easy to deal with in the first six months - once they become mobile your problems have started!

Results: it's closer to my first idea, but I was so not thinking about that.
Peak Dank Greene
I "got" this immediately, although I'm gald the reasons for the move were far more positive than I was thinking.
OH THAT TOOK ME TOO LONG
I remember watching them appear possibly years later on AFV when it aired on Disney Channel (or some cable channel)
nice classic youtube video for a question!
I think this is the first time that I have known the answer instantaneously.
More Taskmaster references please!
I knew the family who made the video and it paid both of their private school fees for quite a long time
Contracting Dan and Hank to Dank isn't so much Alex Horne from Taskmaster as it is Thanks Ants, Thants from Look Around You.
Good thing Dan's name isn't Wes. "Haes" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
@@Archgeek0 I am failing to get the producer's joke - I came to the same conclusion as you with "Haes"... why is this funny?

how could Hank not know this :O
you heard it here first, Dan and Hank start a RUclips podcast series and call it “Dank Pods”.
Wait…
The first one of these I got immediately
I liked the, "You're my WIFE!" video
As a big fan of Taskmaster, I absolutely loved that joke

I know the Charlie video but whats the other video they reference at the end?
david after dentist
@@evanscowDava Ohhh of course!
Dank... Epic.

CHARLIE! lol

they're not in a car though
these titles feel like crossword clues
Daniel and Hank's Dank (formerly Wes)
That video was not in a car; they were sitting in a large armchair.
did they have ad revenue back in charlie bit my finger days?
Wait, there was a time when 100K was enough to buy a home?
Yes. But I don't think they were completely broke when they published the video.
that *was* very Alex Horne and I was just about to comment that
Well, Peter Serafinowicz did it in 2002 with ants.
And, TBH, Hollywood media did it decades before that with famous couples.
When was this? RUclips didn't have ads before like 2012 I guess (certainly no unskippable video-ads), surely there have been viral videos before that?
Probably from revenue of the video being used in ads, like for RUclips.
The video was published in 2007.
Didn’t it used to have banner ads? They popped up at the bottom ~10 seconds into the vid. And I think those used to pay out like 100 times more than they do now
"like 2012 I guess" = 2007 (first in-video ads) or 2008 (first pre-roll ads). Google "The History Of RUclips Advertising"
I mean, Charlie only bit it because his brother put it in his mouth. I'm not exactly sure if that counts as bad behavior so much as poor judgement of his brother.
I mean, you hear "Charlie" and if you don't follow through with "bite my finger", then what the hell are you doing with your life :D
... and the chocloate factory?
There's also Chaplin.

... is so cool like?
I follow it with "bit me" because that's what he says first.
i think prodigy, charlie says always tell your mother before you go off somewhere errreeerrrwwwwaaaa

Interesting that both Tom and Daniel misremembered the video as being filmed in a car?
this must be some kind of mandela effect because i could've sworn it was in a car
mixing it up with david after dentist which went viral around the same time
Why is Scott's video always so choppy and out of sync?
Real rizz is apologising for every joke you make. Sack up Tom
