I think it’s hilarious how aghast Jemma and Sally were about Mike eaten the burnt chocolate that was in the bin for a second. Eating burnt chocolate from the bin might not even make the top 20 things of worst things Mike has admitted to eating
HAHAHA
Given that he later licked the whipped cream off the towel I think they clued in.
"Oh I thought that was sauce" - Mike about eating raw batter
True. He didn't know it was in the bun.
I still remember him eating raw batter and loving it.
“I can see the terror in his eyes.” is literally the most Barry expression ever 😂
mike giving himself a 9 was a lovely surprise given that he usually scores himself unreasonably low
He seems to have garnered some well deserved self confidence as he wins badges...
Ben with his booze, Jamie with his non-understanding of how measurement works. This was a great episode 😄
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching Kieran :)
I believe in the friends video they commented how inaccurate 'cups' was a measurement, we introduce Jamie.
Honestly, why is a tablespoon not equal to a spoon you put on the table?
I got some recipes passed down, (in a real metric country), they all use "spoons" to measure - but the ones people use to eat.
@@sther9608 it is the spoons used at the table, but you are supposed to level it off with the back of a butter knife. Jamie went for "rounded" tablespoons. But they were a bit *too* round
@@harmonic5107 well, if this is with the recipes i inherited, they are a heaping - serving spoon (for eating, for tea or for coffee). Leveling it is just something i learned from american spoon-based recipes. You don't level, you don't even shake it; the most you can get on that spoon is your measure.
I cant be the only one who uses this system.. or am i???
“Basil and strawberry go really well together. What’s like a strawberry? Raspberry.”
I see that Jamie has adopted the same cooking philosophy as my dad: it looks similar therefore it should taste similar.
(Spoiler Alert: no it doesn’t!)
But then again, I can't see basil and raspberry tasting bad either.
@@GirishManjunathMusic true. It might work.
Basil and strawberry is actually amazing together
there also was another video (Afternoon Tea PIO) where they made something with raspberry, Mike tasted it and went "tastes strawberry-ish"
@@GirishManjunathMusic i am not sure, but strawberry is sweet, raspberry is more "acidic"? i think it would clash with basil
James's "Where's the dish?" line is going to follow him the rest of his life. That's his "It's raw!".
Barry scoring himself low, Mike scoring himself super high (although he usually dramatically underscores himself, so I guess he's making up for all that...?).
Jamie giving himself a round score, Ben giving himself a decimal point score… and a low one for him at that...
What is this video? A Freaky Friday?
I also kinda' feel like Ben might've overrated himself. He didn't actually do all that much besides making the nuts, & starting the jelly that was never gonna' set up in time.
@@SeraphimCramer to be fair, there wasn't a whole lot he could do. The 10 minutes that Sally brought in were so very needed.
@@SeraphimCramer When the previous people stuffed it up as hard as possible, do you score yourself low BECAUSE of them, or high IN SPITE of them?
"I am worried about my nuts" even in context coming from Ben it gets innuendo value
What about when he said he needed her to "check my nuts"? Lol.
"Have a peek at my nuts!"
-Ben 2021
@@eddebrock YES! That was it!
@@eddebrock The Deez nuts of SF
He literally said "look at my nuts, have a peek at my nuts". More innuendo impossible. lol
I appreciate that Jemma and Sally got stat cards too!
Omg me too!!!
Yessssssss!!!
I love the stat cards
I think Jamies raspberry basil would've totally changed their thoughts on the dish. I think it really needed that brightness and interesting flavor to punch it up, whether it was set or not, over the store bought jelly.
I agree, it thought it should've been used
That ad for the “pass it on live” is pure genius.
Thank you! Hopefully we will see you there? 😃
@@SortedFood already bought my pass
yeah indeed!!!
@@SortedFood gutted I'm gonna have to miss it because financial reasons. PIO is why I love this channel so I'm split between you guys being able to monetise it and me having to miss it. Still, gotta agree that advert was next level genius
@@kateh7484 where do I buy the pass and stuff? Is it on their site?
Jamie, pass it on is where you shine. It's like cooking at home, cooking from instinct. Look at the at home chili recipe from way back when. It's the same confidence! But with the growth over the years to try new things, and a willingness to be critical of yourself.
100% Jamie is like what do I know... ok I’ll do that while Barry usually goes what’s something interesting and new that he doesn’t actually know how to cook.
@@nathantate1144 So true!
For extra chaos, there needs to be a Pass It On episode where the boys get to choose their order (maybe split them up into two goes again so there's extra chaos). Then instead of calling them down by the order they chose, have Janice just bring them in on her whim so they're all out of order and have no idea what's going on or who's already gone before.
Isn’t Janice just Mike? I don’t think that would work unless of course he recorded his Janice lines after the fact lol
@@StretchReality I think during filming it's someone else, but her/his voice is later removed and Janice aka Mike does a soundover.
@@Pudeta I think so too, the girls were responding to Janice comments
The more chaos the better, good sounds like a good idea
It's hilarious to me that Baz knows him going first is "the worst" possible choice lol
(Flashbacks to all the weird combos the boys have been stuck with, because of Baz's early decisions)
Barry is best in last place because he has an eye for aesthetics, so his plating can be really good (compared to "Huttlestorm" Mike who is just "throw everything together"). Barry going first isn't ideal, but his absolute worst is going in the middle because he's such an individualist that he always has to put his own spin/twist on something rather than just toeing the line (which, more often than not, sabotages the dish).
He definitely wasn't wrong as this proved lol
Honestly it’s better to just throw out what Baz is making in the beginning rather than have him come in second to last and ruin things others prepared with his „creativity“ which also happened more than once
@@LuckyDragon289 C L O U D E G G.
He has great ideas on how to spin an existing dish, but coming up with one on his own he goes way too extra with it. I'm the exact same way.
Ben saying "Have a look at my nuts" at 11:27 had me 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like Ben’s “useful info” bar should be longer. He’s always dropping little bits of wisdom.
Yes! I've been binging this series for about a week now and I can't believe I haven't read anyone mentioning this all this time. He's amazing with explaining his thought process and giving tips and tricks.
He only speaks in inuendos and tips... Sometimes at the same time
I am also an Ebbers Fan! He's my fave because he says stuff about cooking well and all, and somewhat history. My other faves on YT include Max Miller (so freaking chuffed they all did a collab!!!!!!) So Ben ends up being my fave usually.
People can say he's a stodgy human but I'm a big, big fan.🎉🎉
It's impressive how all your guests so far have just molded so perfectly and fit so well with your vibe. It's a testament to your atmosphere you've created I feel like. Love Jemma and Sally, love to see them come back. Amazing episode. :D
I'd love to see them bring in You've Been Deserted. JJR can pass it on and James and Brandon can stand on the side and heckle.
Interesting, I just watched this with the girlfriend and we REALLY didn't like them
@@HelloImErik I'm with you, not a fan of the vibe today (and their last go round). She didn't stir the white chocolate thing for 10 minutes and then when Jamie came back it was fucked and she blamed the boys to Ben
@@HelloImErik Same! They have their noses a bit too high up in the air. I get 'we are SO much better than you' vibes from them... Hope they won't be back for many more videos...Poppy is much more fun to watch because she's not taking everything 100% seriously
@@HelloImErik Yep!
Now to make the anti-trifle, with the scrambled chocolate lump, grenadine jelly, burnt white chocolate, raspbasil jam, melted chocolate, and... I guess more of the sponge cake? =P
(Also: as much as I like the guest chefs in Pass It On, I'd really prefer if they weren't watching the whole process. A lot of the fun comes from people getting thrown in the deep end!)
IMAGINE THIS: Rhett & Link in Pass It On
it would break the internet for all Mythical Beasts like myself!
This would be AMAZING!!!
You do realize regardless of what is being made Rhett will most likely contribute beans of some sort, and Link with a knife...... medic on stand by lol.
@@SortedFood Please make it non-parishable and send it back and forth through the mail.
Jemma and Sally’s reaction to Mike licking his cloth was priceless! 😂 I think we’ve all gotten used to the boys frequently cross-contaminating things that it’s funny to see other people’s reactions
remember how low his food hygiene rating is in his intro card
Or Jamie scooping the sugar with his hands
"No food waste!"
I mean, Barry started his go by running his hands through his hair…
I Love the whole sorted crew dynamic, but i really enjoy these guest episodes especially the recurring guests, like Jemma and Sally, and Poppy, its the usual banter with some extra knowledge and insight
Agreed!
Please keep bringing in delightful guests like Jemma, Sally, and Poppy! They’re lovely and add a little sass that James provided.
Jemma's comments had me absolutely rolling.
"The sponge is quite nice." LOL
Ok, I need to know this, does mike pre-record the beginning Janice segment or these guys are just really good actors!!
I think they have a teleprompter on, or multiple people from the team behind the camera pitch in on Janice's lines.
whaddaya mean?! Janice is real, how dare?
Someone else is most likely delivering the same lines behind the scenes, and Mike does the VA after
I always think about that, but I believe it is pre-recorded and the only one acting is Mike. Cause I feel they make certain comments when they're all in the kitchen at the beginning that are funny and I bet Janice would add to, but because she doesn't, I'm guessing its only pre-recorded.
or someone from the crew said it, but had mike dub over it with a janice voice during the editing process
I think when sally talked to jamie after he got subbed out when she explained it and made joke, even when it was on accident, she made jamie feel a lot better, losend up a lot (body language). I think he was, considering his short comment before, a bit frustrated he got subbed out again when he was on the go.
That was wholesome. :D
Also, to whoever mixed the smoke detector sound into the ad for the live event: you are brilliant and I hate you! The fact that it's mixed in such a way that it's juuust there loud enough that the music is still the main noise you hear, but too loud to ignore it, makes me think the smoke detector in my apartment is going off every single time I watch that ad!😂
Man I'd need a character card like the guys here.
Anxiety 250%
Tiredness 100%
Fashionability 10%
Cooking ability -15%
I need one, too : creativity 0% & the rest I don‘t know
Someone is the Sorted Community has to be good at Photoshop. A custom character card would be amazing!! Something easy to fill-in so everything could make their own.
@@sandraluise7084 Ahaha, thats good.
I'm only 35 seconds in and I can already tell this is going to be chaotic in the best possible manner 😆
Pass It On just fills me with happiness 😂
Was initially expecting a layer cake with interesting fillings and a nice icing, and I'm not sure that wouldn't have been a better way to go.
Thyme with the raspberry?
Loving the guest appearances all around. Not that I don't love the boys to pieces, but it's wonderful to get some lady energy in the house as well.
And they all mesh so well. Poppy especially just fits into the dynamic so perfectly.
I really love the idea of having guests in your pass it on!
I would love to see another 1914 cookbook recipe episode! With a guest chef.
there's gotta be some crazy complicated potato based thing in there to torment poppy with
Bring in Max from Tasting History, his historical cooking knowledge is off the charts!
@@cullenbrant2524 ooh, he'd be perfect for the cookbook challenge
Should do this again with all 6 of you cooking and you have to make 1 layer each, stacking up and adding different flavours and elements, would be really cool to watch!!
Love the stat cards made for Jemma and Sally!
I hope they make one for Poppy in the future too
Jemma's sass level should have been MUCH higher, but, yeah they were great.
Poppy does have one! When she was in the Potato Dessert PIO, at around 7:11 !
I love the pass it on, you have so much frantic stress and so many things that get started, ignored and put to the side in hopes it is someone else's problem. When Chef Ben's contribution is booze on a sponge and some nuts you know it's a good episode. And if Barry had turned off his hob his chocolate custard may have been salvaged., just saying.
Yup, if in doubt, leave it to be someone else's problem. Unless you're last.... then you're in trouble 😂
Funny that they picked the same order Poppy picked for them! Also holy hell the amount of times Jemma had me do a double take with what she said. She rivals Ebbers in that department!
Guest chefs pass it on would be carnage!
Who is going to tell Mike that he added 15 layers (6+6+3) so broke the score board with the highest score ever?
Wow.... they stopped the clock on Ebbers of all people. He's usually the pass it on savior.
And for what exactly? Forgetting the nuts and whipping cream? Lol
The trailer/ad for the PIO Live is absolutely epic 🔥
Yes! Our 'He's THE Man" Mr HuttleStorm brings it together in the end! Well done & Fun
Also, what absolute carnage in the kitchen, cheers to the clear down crew after this one
8:25 Jamie has grown so much. If he'd done that in season 1 he'd definitely have given himself a 10.
I would like to do a pass it on with Jemma and sally with like a Christmas cake 🎂 or a cake that has to be sold in there crumbs and dollies shop.
To me the ultimate tester of pass it on would be would it sell in a shop or serve it in a restaurant.
It would be interesting to do a chefs badge on one of the multiple masterclasses that they have such as cookies , caramel, meringue or decorating that both Jemma and sally are masters at.
Love the images for Jemma and sally on pass it on
It would be an interesting for an ultimate chefs battle with poppy, Ben, Jemma and sally with tag teams in a Hell’s Kitchen format or master chef Australia with Jamie being Gordon Ramsey
I'm planning a 6 layered dessert of my own:
1. (Top) Broiled marshmallow fluff with cocoa powder & powdered sugar dusting
2. Brown sugar graham cracker (digestive biscuit) crumble
3. Mashed banana with oats and honey
4. Vanilla rice krispie treats with chocolate peanut butter cups and a chocolate drizzle
5. Chocolate pudding (custard) with M&Ms
6. (Bottom) Chocolate chip cookie/crushed nut fudge brownie roll slices with caramel drizzle
I'm still trying to decide the best nut for the brownie bit and I'm open to suggestions on any of it.
Barry should have just called in sick he literally did nothing. Classic Barry!
We need more Pass It on with celebrity commentary. They don't even need to cook. Just watch and comment on the chaos.
the only cooking channel where i watch dessert vids but normally i skip dessert vids cause i dont eat em i hate deesert making but Sorted make it funny enough to watch it
I love how Jemma and Sally get their own stats cards
That's a fail in my book, two bakers and a chef had 30 minutes between them and the result was something I could easily make in under 50 minutes. Not that I'm blaming the bakers or the chef.... Barry is 100% at fault :D Great episode though, I'd love to see a do-over.... perhaps Ben or a baker should go first though! :D
And Jamie, who added water to a jam that needed to reduce and set quickly, wasn't at fault as well? 😂
wait, Mike is Janice, so if Janice is commenting live on the performance of Barry, that means Mike is watching
Honestly… I usually know what to expect with pass it on. This time… I’m genuinely clueless and I wish you the best of luck 😅
We need all the luck so thank you!
Idea for a communication badge:
Two or three normals are presented with an identical mystery box each. They then have to come up with a plan for a dish, and make the dish, while the kitchen is divided, so the normals can't see what the others are doing, but they can speak with each other during the cooking process.
The aim is to produce 2/3 identical dishes, both in taste and looks.
It's about time Mike gives himself a score he deserves. 9!
OmG Ben and his “Sally, take a peek at my nuts. Please? Please?” I cannot.
Having this many people in a kitchen gives me university flashbacks 😂
It is a bit like that huh?
Especially when there was 6 of us trying to make a entire Christmas meal for everyone in a 3m x 2m space
@@slugmansam3641 it’s like me at my job when there’s 7 bartenders including myself on a Saturday in a tight cramped bar space
I feel like wording wise this was the cheekiest episode yet
Absolutely loved this. The energy is awesome
I absolutely love the girls energy...it pairs so beautifully against the Sorted boys and brings something unique and uplifting.
I think the fun part is the two guests getting in there and by the time their time is done, even having the advantage of knowing what everyone else is doing, still find themselves realizing that this whole relay isn't as easy as it looks.
Damn Skippy!!! This is SO much harder than it looks!😮
i'm just noticing this now, why is the bar for "useful info" on Ben's graphic so small?!?!?! it should be at 100 %, this man has never said a word that wasn't important!
"Please check on my nuts" (and many other innuenedos) notwithstanding.
I know, there will be chaos.... When you guys posted in Instagram!
I'm so excited for the Pass it on Chaos
I was NOT expecting titlecards for Jemma & Sally
Sally and Jemma and the Sorted crew ... Haven't seen the Video yet but I just know that it's going to be a blast!
For me it's a fail, it had 6 layers but some layers were doubled up. Plus, where's the fresh fruit, could have use macerated strawberries with vanilla bean as a layer. I would love to see a battle like this but with the normals vs the chefs/bakers
What made it in? Sponge and Cream made by guest chefs, and Ben's nuts. Pass for the chefs, fail for the normals.
I think Jemma and Sally came in at just the right time to save everything. I really like these two and hope to see more of them. :)
I just want to know who says, "I'm making a trifle, I should start with something other than a sponge"?
I think you need some updated stat cards. I mean, Jamie's just doesn't do justice to how much he's improved. If anything he is now at least as productive as Mike or Barry lol
This was so much fun to watch! I love how you're finding guests who fit so well into the vibe of the kitchen and videos!
yey a PASS IT ON! my favorite challenge to watch.
I feel like Baz and Jamie have fallen too far into the world of internet extremes, "if it's not radical, weird and interesting, it's not good." If they got a brief for a PB&J, they'd end up toasting coconut for some reason. Sometimes good is just simple done well.
Tbf, it’s very common for people who have some knowledge on cooking but are far from proficient (aka the “normals” of sorted) to want to do more than they are capable of. It’s the classic “I don’t want to be boring because I think I can do better”
My thought was a puff pastry its literally just layers naturally
This is very true.
That was chaos and lots of fun!
Poor Jamie. It must feel so devastating to be the guy who gets interrupted but the ladies just made sure the trifle works and I feel like it had not so much to do with Jamies performance.
Honestly i feel like ben took the blow a bit harder
even the chef got interrupted lol
I said the same. Jamie was stopped because Barry's contributions ended being useless. He was making over toppings that needed time to chill/set. Not wrong, but Jemma and Sally were also right the sponge needed to be done.
Best video ever, love these colaborations :D
Relay!!! Yessssssss! Love these!!
I love these segments. Love it when your guests actively participate in the roasting of everyone in good fun.
If someone said I was getting a 6 layer dessert or a trifle (which this was not) and served this, I'd be disappointed. If they told me they'd whipped up a quick pud though, I'd probably be happy.
Barry's hair is looking great. I really like it. Also I think it's a pass.
This was so fun!!! I love this collab! Personally I think it's a pass considering how many things went wrong along the way--there was still a dish at the end of it!
I was saying Wheeeeere's the fruit? My Mum always did a sponge layer with port sprinkled on it, then canned sliced peaches (drained), then custard over the peaches, let set then would add cream, Jelly and then the same again then sprinkle crushed flake on top.
Good try guys. I guess a pass.
The chefs that came in botched the white chocolate in the microwave and didn’t check on the nuts in the oven 🤣🤣
New videooooooo
PASS IT ON TEAMS:
Make two teams, both select a captain.
Have team captains starting together in the kitchen, both need to come up with a plan as the theme is revealed. They have 15 minutes to do their thing, and they pass it on to the next team mates.
Next team mates also have 15 minutes, and after that they pass it on back to the captains.
Curveball: When the captains return to the kitchen to finish their dishes, they are told to switch teams.
Rules to be considered: to fight food waste and to support teamwork, nothing can be discarded. Burnt or otherwise unsalvageable foods may go to the bin but all successfully prepared ingredients must be in the final dish.
Theme: Casserole for a family.
I have it on good authority that if there’s anything that needs to be done early on, it’s not happening. I dub it ‘The Jelly Principle’.
Oh golly this was the most stressful 30 minutes of my life hahaha. Loved it though. And don’t worry, we’ve been working on our trifle recipe ;)
Sally with the CDG Play flex, I respect it :) Loved the episode!
Looks like a pass to me. They did what they were trying to do, and it came out alright.
Chaos, I hear you calling!
now we need the well done version.
I enjoy when you have guests on, keep up the great work ya'll
The dessert as a whole looks pretty good, but I'm afraid the jam on top would ruin it for me, as it would probably be too sweet and impossible to just set aside from the rest. Otherwise, boozy sponge, custard and cream is always a winning combination.
I would have said it was a pass IF they had made the jam themselves. But they were supposed to make a 6 layer desert and they really made 5 layers and then used a store bought layer.
If the dish was good then it would’ve been a pass but since they didn’t really seem to like it much/thought it was average and they used a store bought element, I think it is a fail.
I'm curious how the rest of Barry's plan was going to go at the end there (Jemma, Jam, Jamie, Jam, ...)
Jemma, jam, Jamie, jam, James, jam, Janice
SEVEN layers!
So happy to see Jemma and Sally. I've been following Jemma for years!
disappointed there was no beef and peas in that trifle
just kidding, it looks delicious
Also !!! If Jamie keeps his lead going and wins the chefs challenge does he get to pick a new sound for his turn?! 🤣 something a little less “bafoon-y” hahahah
Poor Barry. At least he didn't decide on a croquembouche.
Can you imagine 😂
Have to say a fail, only Ben's nuts made it in to the dish, the rest was Sally's and Jemma's contribution
Excellent episode
