I bought one new in 1976. They were made (assembled?) in Lincoln Nebraska. Kawasaki sent you a data plate after you bought it with "especially made for- and your name"- on it. I put 16,000 trouble free miles on it. I've missed it every day since I sold it.
All my years of being a Kawasaki guy, never seen a tire repair kit or knew they even existed...to cool! Those big Kawi air cooled fours, with proper maintenance, will run forever.
I have one of these right now that I got not long ago as of today it has 1074 miles total on it. Cant wait to have it back on the road... I love these old KZ bikes!

These were very fast bikes, in there day. My uncle owned a KZ 900 and loved to race it, I’ve seen it take out 1,000 cc and larger bikes. His was not a ltd and it was a deep colored green with 4 into 1 header , the only upgrade. Yes I was a kid and dumb enough to get on the back of it, I had to fight to stay on it. .
One of my machines was a1882 KZ 750 four. Dark metallic blue with light blue pin stripes, cast wheels. Was a great all purpose bike. I’ve owned Kawasaki’s since 1976.
Mine is pretty nice but that bike is a beaut. The Mulholland decals on my shocks are like 20% gone. Have 29mm Mikuni smoothbores on it with K&N cones. Still have the stock airbox and bank of 26mm. Jardine 4 into 2 and Lester mags are OEM. Get's up and goes great for being 47 years old. Thanks for the vid.
Whoa, that's some old school in its purest form. What a beauty. Big shout out to the owner for keeping it in such good shape. And 3k miles, is it really original? If so that engine is barely broken in, has a whole service life ahead.
Had this same bike. I had the steering crown area welded with a couple plates to reinforce it since mine got a high speed wobble and threw me off at 125mph on I-15 coming out of Cajon pass back in the late 70's. When I stopped sliding down the hywy and looked back a bus was headed right at me. I then did the longest standing broad jump in history to get out of the way. Turned out that the Kawi shop didn't put the new front tire on correctly. There was a gap between the fork and the wheel hub which started the high speed wobble. The owner of the Kawi shop had trouble believing I had the accident cause I didn't have a scratch. I was wearing leather and showed him the scrape on the shoulder and the tiny scratch in my Nava helmut (Remember those?). The bike however did. Everything on that bike was made of steel including the blinkers which got scraped down pretty good and several other areas.
My father had this identical bike and he sold his older Z1 for this KZ. I remember him often saying it was a much better riding bike and he thought the Z1 was faster but he felt much safer with the triple disc brakes on the KZ
Greetings from Ireland Johnny ☘️✌️most definitely thumb's up 👍 on this beautiful machine 1976 production only love all kz ltds from 76 to 80 .. wasn't mad about the 81 onwards with j type motor..but man this iconic 76 kz900ltd is absolutely beautiful and in original condition fantastic. Keep up the good work Johnny .. she's a beauty 👌♥️🤟
Nice LTD Johnny! That tire repair kit is uber rare, I've never seen that before. I'm wondering if a limited production of those were a dealer add-on just for the LTD. Take er cool, cheers, Doug
hello/johnny nice ride/ my copper mag kz1000 is a great bike/super strong/ so glad that i purchase it from you/ great people/great work/ will get you to do my 79ltd/and my 1970cb750/ thanks again/WILLAM
Although it is running like a sewing machine, there’s something I don’t like about the exhaust tone. Has the baffling been internally modified? Beautiful !!
I recently bought a 1978 KZ1000 LTD. While replacing the handlebar I realized the left and right switch wires go inside the handlebar. My question is: I want to install the handlebar left and right switches using wires outside the handlebar, what year Z1 900 or KZ 1000 switches should I use? btw, thank you for the Vintage motorcycle calendar you sent with the parts I purchased from you on Ebay.
Kofla, that's a conversion Ive never tried to make, however I would have to have both switches in front of me to tell you which ones would work. We do offer a terminal kit for those from Japan if you're interested in converting over if that's what you intend to do: www.johnnysvintagemotorcycle.com/product/wire-terminal-kit-with-pliers/
You've discussed a number of times those speedometer cable fitments breaking off the crank. How are they attached -- press fit -- threaded? How do you affix the new one?
Johnny what valve cover gasket brand do you use and what sealant? I have a 83 KZ1100 that I have put two going on three valve cover gaskets on. I've had plenty of 900/1000 KZ and never had them seep.
HOW MANT TIMES ARE YOU GOING TO TELL US YOU ARE GOING TO CLEAN IT UP, AND GO THROGH THE COMPONENTS TELLING US YOU ARE GOING TO CLEAN THEM UP. THE VOICE IS ANNOYING SORRY HAD TO FAST FORWARD TO MANY REPITIONS ANS TALKING AWAY FROM THE MIC.

I remember the day that saw one of these for the first time. Stunning then and stunning now.
First of the inline 4 Japanese Cruisers. Love it !
Ltd's weren't my cup of tea, but that is a gorgeous bike. Nice job guys.
Nice job and beautiful bike. I had a 1976 and loved it.

The LTD is still the best looking crypto chopper ever to be put into production

I prefer the Z 1 900 but Id own this one.
Just like the one I use to have. Wow I miss that bike. Got used in 1977.
I had a 1977 1000 LTD like the blue one in the background, awesome bike.
I live in Japan and today I was just looking at the very first KZ 900, and 750 triple ever made.
WOW!

Nice-looking bike, now I'm starting to dig the ltd's and good-looking exhaust
I own Kawasaki 900 Z1 awesome bike it was 1975 and it was fast

Not sure about that. First one I've ever seen!
I sure do wish I could find my 1978 LTD (in red) that I bought new, I sold it in 1983, and never saw it again!

I am sorry, I thought we were only talking about the seat. There are many differences
Although it is running like a sewing machine, there’s something I don’t like about the exhaust tone. Has the baffling been internally modified? Beautiful !!
The megaphone jardines are a bit on the loud side, but they're original to the LTDs. Sounds just like the LTDs I used to have.
beautiful bike!
Watch your videos but can't seem to find how to buy them 1980s KZ Kawasaki
Smokn now that’s a motorcycle 🏍
Sounds like its only on 3 to me..?
Take a drink every time he says “nice”
very very nice bike👍
Looks like a Micky D bike. Nice job as always!
I wonder why they quit making these
Bikes like they made them back then.
Too much money to be made?
EPA?

Very nice bike but it was not running right.
Add 4 into 1 exhaust and it would be super nice!
No way man! Those classic "trumpets" have to stay!
Korz Bro : He’ll yes. Best sound.
Sounds like it's running on 3
SUPER NICE !!!!
You've discussed a number of times those speedometer cable fitments breaking off the crank. How are they attached -- press fit -- threaded? How do you affix the new one?
It threads into the drive as well as the speedometer head.
You put Kenda's on a bike that nice. Why on earth....?
Paul, I think with today's standards Kenda is a top-notch tire. They've come a long way.
Why rev a cold motor???
Thought it would have spoked weeles
What did you end up getting for it? Ballpark? $$
How much are you going to ask for it. Never owned one but a good friend I rode with had one and it was a great bike.
The bike has been sold
sorry it has been sold
Johnny what valve cover gasket brand do you use and what sealant? I have a 83 KZ1100 that I have put two going on three valve cover gaskets on. I've had plenty of 900/1000 KZ and never had them seep.
We usually just put a little grease around them to hold them in place, and we've had good luck with Genuine as well as Vesrah.
Johnny whats your opinion on the 76 z900 ltd only 5000 made only what do you think the future will hold for them just asking....
And for the 5000 made 2000 for the American market & the other 3000 went around the world ....now how many are felt in the original conditions ....
Nothing goes better with a 70s kz than some good ole 70s porn music. Great bike!
And I'm sorry many times. I want a bike like this, so can't you find it?
sorry we don't have any ready to sell as of today
@@Johnnysvintage I understand. Thank you for your reply

What is difference between KZ and KZ-Ltd? Seat?
The kz 900a seat is flat
@@Johnnysvintage is that the only difference?
@@mr.e1220 depeding on the tears the panes were a little different

sorry about that. I will try to polish up on my skills when our work slows down
Beautiful bike but hated the sound of two pipes. I'm a fan of the sidewinder 4 into 1
