    doesnt streching the sheet make it weaker?

      Well yes but actually no. I think Albert used quite thick metal sheets for his masterpiece project so that he could stretch the material like seen on originals. On the originals you have variation of thickness, for example the breastplate is often very thick in the front (I think ive heard they can be around 4mm there) to take a lance but on the sides they are considerably less thick, down to about 1mm since you would likely not be hit in the sides as much. We see this on most armour that is original, putting more material where more hits are probable is a pretty smart move considering you save weight and material that way. But of course there are errors too, I think there is a barbute where the helmet is thicker in the back than on the forehead.
      Short answer: It does weaken it but usually to the desired weakness or strength for the area on the armour.
